Description:
Don’t give your plants unfiltered hose water! This TALLBoy filter unit is rated at up to 99% chlorine
removal @ 2GPM flow and cleans up to to 90% of the sediment particles above 5 microns. This
filter is not designed to significantly lower the Parts Per Million (PPM) of your water. The majority
of the PPM of your tap water is minerals which can only be removed with Reverse Osmosis.
Having chlorine and sediment free water is essential to growing healthy plants and maintaining
beneficial micro-organisms, bacteria and fungi in your root zone and growing medium. These
microbes cannot survive in the presence of chlorine. Chlorine free water is also essential for
organic compost tea brewing and any bio-organic gardening method. The TALLBoy is also a
great high capacity pre-filter for any Stealth-RO.
Special note on chloramines:
Chloramines are a disinfecting agent that is being added by some cities to the water supply in
place of, or in addition to, chlorine. They are a much more stable form of chlorine and do not
dissipate from letting the water be exposed to air or bubble out with an airstone. They cause the
same damage to all living things as does chlorine. Manufacturers of carbon block filters, such
as the one that comes standard with the TALLBoy, do not make specific claims for chloramine
removal. If you are sure your water supply contains chloramines, you can remove the majority
of them by upgrading the standard Green Coconut Carbon filter (HL#22110) to our KDF85/
Catalytic Carbon upgraded filter (HL#22065). It is a direct replacement and can treat twice as
much water as the standard Green Coconut Carbon filter. Inquire at your dealer.

1. Main unit
2. Inlet tubing w/female garden hose connector
3. Poly-Spun sediment filter
4. Green Coconut Carbon filter or
KDF85/Catalytic Carbon upgraded filter
5. Outlet tubing w/male garden hose connector
1. Remove rubber dust plugs from inlet and outlet fittings by pulling them straight out.
2. Begin by hooking the female hose adapter to your outdoor spigot or garden hose.
3. Next, take one of the 5ft. lengths of the tubing and push one end into the hose adapter and
the other end into the “feed” fitting of the filter unit on the right side of the TALLBoy.
4. Next, take the other 5ft. length of tubing and insert that into the “outlet” fitting of the TALLBoy.
5. Before using your TALLBoy filter you will need to flush out any carbon fines or particles for 5
minutes with the water going to drain.
6. Now you can hook up your garden hose to the male garden hose connector and push the
outlet tubing into the quick connect on the other end of this connector.
Precautions:
• When first installing the unit and turning the feed water on, do so slowly to allow both filter
housings to fill with water completely. When you see filtered water flowing from the outlet tubing
you can then turn the feed water on all the way. Discard the first five minute of product water to
flush any carbon fines or particles before using.
• When replacing filter cartridges, use filter wrench to remove housing. Do not use the wrench to
tighten. Hand tighten the housings only. Make sure not to over-tighten.
• Do not install where leakage or failure may cause damage to your personal property.
• Protect unit against freezing to prevent cracking of the filter housing and water leakage.
• Do not install unit where incoming pressure may be more than 125 psi or there are excessive
water hammer problems. Use HydroLogic’s 3/8” Pressure Regulator (HL#10071) available at
your dealer.
• Keep out of direct sunlight or high intensity lights. This will degrade the housing and fittings over
time. It’s best to keep the unit in complete shade or place a cover over it for protection. This will
keep the unit in better condition for longer.
• Do not drop or place heavy objects on top of unit.

Component Specifications:
Poly-Spun Sediment Filter - HL#22140
Melt-Blown Technology Ensures High Performance
Melt-blown technology is used to manufacture all our sediment filters. This process has long been
regarded as the leading technology for fabricating sediment filters. Our melt-blown sediment filters
feature a graded density that uses the entire depth of the filter to trap sediment, translating into high
dirt-holding capacity. Melt-blown polypropylene cartridges offer a self-supporting, thermally fused
media that requires no separate center support tube. No adhesives, binding agents or anti-static
agents are used.
• 5 micron nominal filtration
• SURFACE AREA: Approximately 4 sq. ft. (0.37 M2)
• TEMPERATURE LIMIT: Up to 140°F (60 °C) depending on pressure and time under load
• FILTER MEDIA: Polyester
• END CAPS: Plastisol (pliable PVC)
• Thermally bonded fibers will not migrate into water
• Broad chemical compatibility
Earth Friendly Green Coconut Carbon Filter - HL# 22135
HydroLogic is proud to introduce the first Carbon Block to use NSF6 listed Green Carbon. This high
performance coconut shell carbon is manufactured using a patented process that significantly reduces
harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
These carbon blocks are made using coconut shell Green Carbon, which has more micropores than
other types of carbon and a unique binder system, delivering a product with superior absorption
capacity and kinetic dynamics.
This combination of high performance carbon, unique binders, and proprietary manufacturing
processes delivers exceptionally low pressure drop, high dirt holding capacity, and excellent
contaminant reduction.
Features and Benefits:
• 10 micron nominal filtration
• No release of carbon fines
• Exceptionally low pressure drop
Note: Use only with microbiologically safe and adequately disinfected water. Do not use with water of
any unknown origin or water quality. Use of non-HydroLogic filters will void warranty. When in doubt
contact HydroLogic to order a water analysis kit.
• Meets NSF61 standards
• Performance validated by WQA
• NSF certified for material safety
• Industry leading performance

• Meets NSF61 standards
• Reduces a wide range of contaminants, incuding heavy metals, chlorine, chloramines, sulfur and iron
• Carbon has enhanced catalytic capability
• KDF neutralizes chlorine
• NSF Certified for material safety

Filter Housings:
• Housing -Polypropylene
• Cap - Reinforced Polypropylene
• O-Ring - Buna-N
• Maximum Temperature -125°F
• Maximum Pressure - 125 psi
Filter Changes:
The Green Coconut Carbon filter is rated to produce approximately 7,500 gallons of treated water*,
or approximately 6-9 months, whichever comes first. This is based on 2 gallons per minute (GPM) flow
rate and source water at 1 PPM chlorine. The sediment filter replacement schedule is dependent on
how dirty your source water is. It is recommended to replace both filter cartridges at the same time.
If you can visibly detect dirt in the sediment filter sooner than 6 months or 7,500*gallons of treated
water, this indicates high levels of sediment in your source water and this filter should be changed more
often than the carbon filter. Replacements are available at your dealer.
*15,000 gallons for the KDF85/Catalytic Carbon upgraded filter
Warranty:
HydroLogic products have a one-year warranty solely against manufacturer’s defects. These defects must be noted
and photographed upon receiving the merchandise or when the box is opened. This does not include clogged filters
or membranes due to excessive contaminants, minerals, sediment and/or chlorine in the water. In many cases extra
pre-filtration methods may be necessary to get favorable performance and/or service life from the filters. The warranty
also excludes damage to the unit caused by using the unit outside of the specified parameters. Do not operate unit
if incoming pressure exceeds 125 psi or there is a problem with water hammer spikes. Use a HydroLogic Pressure
Regulator (HL#10071), available at your local hydro shop. For other issues that may arise throughout the lifetime of the
product, please contact HydroLogic directly for technical support.
Product returns will only be honored on brand new unopened products in the original packaging and in re-sellable
condition. Any units that have had water run through them or any damage to the box or packaging material will be
refused for return. Any returns with missing parts will be refused. All returns must be preauthorized by HydroLogic.
Do not contact your dealer or distributor for warranty issues. Contact HydroLogic directly.
