7300 Quick Guide
This is a brief set up document for the Icom 7300.

Rear

Connections on the IC-7300 Radio
Basic connections on the rear of the Radio (Rear Picture)
Earth Ground – Connect the ground wire to the Andersen power
pole connector and secure to a ground point
Connect the MFJ-4230 to a source of 115vac and verify that its
output is set to 13.8vdc. Turn off the Power supply and then connect
the IC-7300 power line to the connector on the radio and the
opposite end to the MFJ-4230.
Antenna Connection – Connect the 50 ohm feed line from the
antenna to the DAWI SWR Meter and connect the jumper cable from
the DAWI SWR meter to the Antenna connector on the rear of the
radio.
Once all connections are complete turn on the power supply and
press the “POWER” button on the IC-7300 for 1 second to turn on
the radio.
USB-B connector – to connect the radio to a PC use the USB A/B
cable and connect the B side to the radio and the A side to the PC.

Start up procedure for IC 7300 Radio
1. Once all connections are complete , turn on the power supply and
press the “Power” button (1) to turn on the radio.
2. Press the “Menu” button (10) and the Menu screen will appear.
3. Press the “Scope” icon to bring up the Waterfall display. Press the
“Return Key” icon [bottom right] to go to the waterfall display.

4. To change the operational Mode of the radio, HF or
Digital, press the “Menu” button and select the “SET” icon.
Use the arrow slider on the right to go to page 3 and tap on
the SD Card icon. Select the Digital or HF file and tap on the
line. Select “ALL” and tap again. The file loads and a box
pops up asking to cycle power to load the program. Select
“Yes”.
The radio will restart in the selected mode.
5. To select Power output for the radio press on the
Multi-Function Control (27) and a window will pop up
displaying Power, MIC GAIN, COMP & Monitor. Tap the
power are; it will backlite blue, and then turn the control
knob to select the desired power output level.
NOTE: You can adjust several settings on this radio for your
preference and save them to a unique file on the SD card.
Do not overwrite the 2 original files.

BAND Select and Tuning the IC-7300
1. To select the desired Band touch the Frequency readout on
the screen. A pop up window will open and you can tap on
the desired Band.
2. To change Frequency simply rotate the Main Dial (18).
3. To tune the radio press “Tuner” (3) and the internal tuner
will tune the antenna to the radio.

NOTE: The IC-7300 restricts the output power to 10 watts
when tuning the radio to protect the transmitter.

Full manual is available on line, as a PDF. There are also
many good videos on YOUTUBE that cover using the
various modes of the IC-7300,that can be very helpful in
learning how to use the radio.
The following 2 pages are a listing of the SET menu items
that can be changed.
NOTE: Each menu choice has a ”DEF” tab that will reset
the item to the default radio setting.
