Condensation wall hung room-sealed boiler for
central heating and the instant production of
domestic hot water.
VICTRIX 24 kW
VICTRIX 24 kW is an instantaneous wall-hung room-sealed
(type C) boiler with a nominal heating input of 24 kW (20640
kcal/h) for central heating and 26 kW (22337 kcal/h) for do-
mestic hot water which, thanks to the condensation technology,
stands out for its particularly high performance and ample
modulation range (from 20% to 100 % of the rated output).
e boiler is equipped with a total premix combustion system
that guarantees minimal polluting emissions and it can run on
either natural gas or L.P.G.
e VICTRIX 24 kW series of boilers is type-approved for in-
stallation outside the building in a partly sheltered location.
Note: By a partly sheltered location we mean a place where the
appliance is not exposed directly to the weather (rain, snow, hail,
etc.).
e boiler is adjusted and controlled by a microprocessor
controlled p.c.b. with continuous 2-sensor ame modulation
(d.h.w. and central heating), which, by means of a backlit dis-
play, shows boiler operating status (temperatures, safety devices,
etc.) and it also allows connection (optional) to the Remote
Control, to the external probe, to the zone control unit and
to the Multi-system Distribution Manifold.
e hydraulic circuit is equipped with a water-gas exchanger
with stainless steel heating coil and uses the new hydraulic unit
made in a composite material on which the devices to control
the hydraulic circuit are housed (the system’s absolute pressure
switch, 3-bar safety valve, automatic system by-pass, etc.), besides
the circulator and 3-way electric valve which allows, according
to requirements, the circulation of boiler water in the central

VICTRIX 24 kW X
VICTRIX 24 kW X is a wall-hung room-sealed (type C) boiler
with a nominal heating input of 24 kW (20640 kcal/h) for
central heating only and designed, thanks to a kit (optional)
to be connected to a separate Storage tank with an 80, 105,
120 or 200 litre capacity.
e boiler, thanks to the condensation technology, stands out
for its particularly high performance and ample modulation

Primary circuit (boiler circuit).
e primary circuit with relevant control and safety devices
is triggered each time there is a request for either central
heating or domestic hot water.
Operation (see the VICTRIX 24 kW hydraulic
diagram).
e heat contained in the fumes produced by combustion is
absorbed by the pipes of the water-gas coil exchanger tted in
the condensation module (16) which, in turn transfers it to the
water circulating inside thanks to the boiler pump (28).
e water is then transferred directly into the system or else
can be diverted inside a stainless steel instantaneous plate
exchanger (30).

Head (kPa)
is depends on the position of the motorised 3-way valve (31)
which, when idle, permits ow to the d.h.w. exchanger (30)
while, when responding to a heating request, diverts the ow
to the system delivery (M) and return (R) pipes.
Flow-head graph.
e trend of the curve that represents the system ow-head
ratio depends on the speed at which the circulator is working
and whether or not the automatic system by-pass is on which
makes it possible to set the system for a bigger or small head.

Primary exchanger
(condensation module).
It consists of a casing containing 4 coil shaped elements.
In turn, each element consists of 5 elliptic pipe spirals (3).
e whole module is made of stainless steel and the inner
part is the sealed combustion chamber and condensation
chamber (2).
e rst three elements are involved directly in the action of
the cylindrical burner, tted on the front, while the fourth is
inside the condensation chamber which is separated from the
combustion chamber by a metal plate (see ue circuit).
To minimise head losses and increase the ow available to the
system, the delivery has the rst two elements connected in
parallel while the return has the last two elements connected
in parallel.
e exchanger inlet is connected to the circulator delivery and
the outlet, on which the NTC heating sensor (1) is positioned,
is connected to the primary circuit delivery.
e primary circuit’s delivery and return pipes are connected
by means of threaded ttings and a at seal.
e draught diverter (4) is connected at the back by means of
a seal locked by a metal ring.
Condensation is drained from the bottom.
Boiler circulator (1).
It works on the primary circuit return and is part of the pump
body made with a composite material.
e automatic air vent (2) is housed directly on the body.

Motorised 3-way valve for combined versions.
It consists of an electric motor (1) connected to the 3-way unit
(2) by means of a fork.
According to the request made (d.h.w. or central heating), this
valve allows boiler water to ow into the central heating system
or in the d.h.w. plate exchanger.
is depends on the position of the shutter (4) which closes
passage to the system while simultaneously opening it to the
d.h.w. exchanger (d.h.w. position) or vice versa (central heating
position).
e motor (1) is made to work by the electronic board and,
with each 180° rotation, the shutter (4) moves into both posi-
tions (d.h.w. or central heating).
e hydraulic part consists of a brass unit (2).
Operation in the central heating mode.
e shutter’s (4) contrasting spring (3) is not compressed
(central heating position), keeping passage to the d.h.w. plate
exchanger closed and passage to system delivery open.
Both the spring (3) and shutter (4) are located inside the 3-
way brass body (2).
Operation in the d.h.w. mode.
e hydraulic unit is always in the d.h.w. mode. e electric
motor (1) pushes the rod (5) to which the shutter (4) is con-
nected which closes passage to the system, simultaneously
opening it to the d.h.w. plate exchanger, the shutter’s (4)
contrasting spring (3) is compressed (d.h.w. position).
Both the spring (3) and shutter (4) are located inside the 3-
way brass body (2).

Automatic system by-pass (4).
is device guarantees the circulation of water in the primary
circuit (between delivery and return) also when it would be
prevented by the high resistance of the system.
It is mounted between the circulator body and the 3-way
unit.
It can be opened or closed by the screw (4) accessible at the
front: with the screwdriver slot horizontal the by-pass is on
(open), with the screwdriver cut vertical it is o (closed).
System lling cock (7).
It is positioned between the boiler circuit and the domestic cold
water inlet and is used to pressurise the heating system.
e lling unit is connected to the d.h.w. ow switch (6) by
means of a threaded tting and connected to the pump unit
(2) by means of an O ring.
System pressure switch (5).
It detects the pressure inside the primary circuit.
It is housed in the circulator body (2) and connected to a mi-
croswitch that prevents the burner working when the pressure
measured is lower than 0.3 bar.
It prevents the primary exchanger from overheating.
Automatic air vent (1).
It automatically expels any gaseous substances there may be
in the boiler circuit.
It is mounted on the circulator delivery directly on the circula-
tor body (2).
3-bar safety valve (3).
It prevents the safety pressure (3 bar) from being exceeded in
the primary circuit.
It is at the front of the circulator body (2) and xed with a
fork.
When this valve trips it causes water to come from the boiler
return.
System expansion vessel (8).
It osets volume variations resulting from water heating thus
restricting pressure variations.
It has an 8-litre capacity (5.7 actual litres) and a pre-load pres-
sure of 1.0 bar.
It is located on the right side of the boiler, by the side of the
combustion chamber and a copper pipe connects it to the cold
water inlet manifold.

Operation.
When domestic water is drawn, cold water ows inside the
d.h.w. ow switch (1) which closes the electrical contact cou-
pled to it (see the electrical circuit).
As a result, the integrated board starts the d.h.w. priority phase
that ignites the burner and, if there’s an ongoing central heating
request, switches the 3-way valve (2) moving it into the working
position (see operation of the hydraulic 3-way valve).
is causes the delivery pipe (M) to close and simultaneously
opens passage to the d.h.w. exchanger (3).
In this way circulation in the central heating system is pre-
vented while it is allowed in the plate exchanger, inside which
the domestic cold water absorbs the heat from the primary
circuit water (see d.h.w. exchanger).
So in this phase central heating is o, domestic hot water
having priority.
e water/water heat exchange takes place inside the d.h.w.
exchanger (3) which is fastened to the d.h.w. inlet (1) and
outlet (2) body with screws.
e top of the body on the left allows cold domestic water to
enter, while at the bottom it allows primary circuit return.
Likewise, the top part of the body on the right allows the outlet
of domestic hot water while at the bottom it allows primary
circuit delivery.
e d.h.w. probe (4) is mounted on the d.h.w. outlet pipe (5)
which allows the integrated board to measure the temperature
of the domestic hot water.

D.H.W. ow switch (2).
Whenever domestic hot water is drawn at a rate of at least 1.5
l/min and with a dynamic pressure of 0.3 bar, the ow switch
(2) enables the boiler to work in the d.h.w. mode.
is is done by means of a magnet that, rising when hit by the
ow of domestic cold water, moves near to an electrical contact
(reed relay) causing it to move thanks to the magnetic eect.
When the contact closes, located outside the pipe through
which the water ows, it enables the adjustment board to start
the domestic hot water priority phase.
It consists of two parts (one in brass and one in plastic) that are
coupled together and locked with a pin.
e G1/4” thread on its body connects it to the system lling
cock (3).
A 7.0 l/min (at 2 bar) ow limiter (1) is installed on the ow
switch output.
D.H.W. exchanger.
It is a water-water exchanger made in stainless steel with 16
plates one on top of the other and on whose surface the boiler
circuit water and the domestic cold water ow in counter cur-
rent and through which heat exchange takes place between the
two lots of water.
e hydraulic coupling is done using four O rings (1) so it
can be connected directly to the d.h.w. inlet and d.h.w. outlet
bodies.

Air-gas circuit.
e circuit consists of a total premix combustion system com-
posed of a fan (5), a pneumatic gas valve (7), a Venturi pipe
(3) and a special cylindrical burner (8) that operates inside the
condensation module.
Functioning.
e fan (5) is controlled by the integrated P.C.B. that varies
its speed depending on the output requested.
Its functioning allows to withdraw combustion agent air from
outside of the sealed chamber and introduce it into a pipe
where a Venturi pipe is inserted (3).
At the inlet to the Venturi (3) there is a positive pressure signal
(P1) variable in a directly proportional manner to the amount
of air taken in by the fan (5) and which is detected by a pressure
point connected to the pneumatic gas valve (7).
e electric power supply of the valve main coils causes both
internal shutters to open and allows the passage of gas, whose
outlet pressure is regulated by the same pneumatic valve in a
1:1 ratio to pressure “P1”.
e gas is injected at the entry of the Venturi pipes (3) through
a nozzle (4), where the premix starts with the combustion
agent air.
e mixture obtained in this way is ignited on the surface
of the cylindrical burner (8) by the discharge of the ignition
electrodes (9).
Gas valve.
e gas valve is equipped with two main coils controlled by
the electric circuit and with a pneumatic unit that modulates
the outlet gas pressure in 1:1 ratio to the pressure (P1) detected
on the inlet of the Venturi pipe.
e calibration of the ratio between the air and gas pressures
are carried out on the valve (o-set) (see gas regulations).
Electrical coils (4).
ere are two ON-OFF coils that are powered (230 V AC) by
an integrated P.C.B. when the burner must be ignited.
ey are connected in series and powered by the mains voltage
rectied by means of a jumper of diodes arranged inside the
connector (3).
Pneumatic unit (2).
Allows to vary the outlet pressure in 1:1 ratio with the pressure
(P1) detected at the inlet of the Venturi pipe that is taken back
to the valve using a small silicone pipe (1).
anks to this system, the percentages in the air-gas mixture
are maintained constant at optimal values on the entire range
of modulation, thus guaranteeing a more or less constant
combustion eciency.
e air-gas ratio calibration can be performed using the o-set
adjusting screw (2).

Fan.
Operates upstream from the combustion chamber and is
positioned under the condensation module.
It is controlled by the integrated P.C.B. with a positive square
wave signal with variable ON-OFF ratio (duty-cycle).
Its speed is adjusted (from about 1100 to about5100 rpm)
depending on the power requested and is controlled using a
sensor with Hall eect, which detects the number of revs.
e fan withdraws the combustion agent air in the upper
part of the sealed chamber through a plastic pipe (1), which
contributes to reducing the noise and optimises burner
ignition.
e variation of the air ow rate that s introduced into the
mixing pipe, leads to the change of the pressure signal (P1) at
the inlet of the Venturi pipe and allows the pneumatic valve
to regulate the pressure of the outlet gas.
Venturi.
e Venturi pipe (1) is inserted into a sealed pipe, inside which
the combustion agent air and the gas are mixed.
e air is introduced by the fan in the lower area of the pipe,
while the gas exiting the valve is injected by a nozzle (2) in
correspondence with the Venturi pipe inlet (1).
e passage of air in the pipe creates a depression (“Venturi
eect”) which, through the 4 holes (3) present at its base, allow
to “drag” the gas inside and to mix it with the air.
e nozzle (2) has a dierent diameter depending on whether
natural gas or LPG is used as, working with both gases with
more or less constant pressure, its section establishes the correct
gas ow rate.
ere are two pressure points at the ends of the Venturi pipe,
used to detect the inlet (P1) and outlet (P2) signals.
Using two small silicon pipes, these signals are taken respectively
to the pneumatic gas valve, which must regulate the gas pressure
and to the negative pressure point (P2) arranged in the upper
part of the sealed chamber.
Burner.
It is a cylindrical burner (5) made up from 2 concentric sheet
steel sections, appropriately perforated and built using a
special steel that is particularly resistent to high temperatures
and corrosion.
It is inserted inside the condensation module, in a sealed
combustion chamber closed by a ange (4) onto which the
burner is xed, which in the meantime guarantees its direct
connection to the air-gas mixing pipe (6).
e premixing, the lack of secondary air and the construction
features of the burner ensure high combustion eciency and
particularly reduced pollutant emissions (see technical data).
e material's high resistance to temperature, allows to work
with a very low ame to a minimum power of 4.7 kW (4,042
kcal/h) (20 % of the heat output).
Ignition takes place by means of an integrated P.C.B. that
controls the ignition (7) and detection electrodes (9).
