Unpack the kit contents. The CY6611 EVK can be used to evaluate Cypress EZ-USB®HX3PD hub controller’s USB 3.1 Gen 2
(10 Gbps) and USB Power Delivery (PD) 3.0 features.
The following table lists the USB and charging features supported by the CY6611 EVK.
* - The maximum power consumed by all the ports should not exceed 55 W which is limited by the capacity of the power
adapter provided with the kit. Refer to the CY6611 User Guide to operate the EVK at maximum charging capacity.
Note 1: This document uses board images with Rev02 of the hardware. Actual hardware revision may be higher
Verify that jumpers are installed at J2, J6 and J10 as shown in the image below. Connect the power adapter provided with the
kit to the DC Power Jack (J12) of the CY6611 EVK board. Plug the other end of the power adapter into an AC power socket.
Power LEDs (LED3-LED5) glow green to indicate that the kit is powered. Also the PD CTRLR LED (LED2) and DMC LED (LED1)
blink green to indicate that the rmware is running and the kit is ready for operation.

Connect the Type-C cable provided with the kit to CY6611 EVK board’s US port; connect the other end to the Type-C port on a
laptop supporting USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) and USB PD capabilities. Verify charging status on the laptop. Also verify enumeration
of HX3PD on the laptop's Operating System (e.g., using Device Manager on Windows OS)
Note 2: The power provided by the CY6611 EVK to the laptop is decided based on the USB PD contract negotiated between
the CY6611 EVK and the laptop.
Note 3: CY6611 EVK supports PD charging on US and DS1 ports simultaneously. Connect a PD capable device
(e.g., mobile phone) on the DS1 port and verify the charging feature on the device.

Get a certied USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) Solid State Drive (SSD) and store a 5 GB le. Connect the drive to any one of the ve
USB 3.1 Gen 2 DS ports (DS1 to DS5). Copy the 5 GB le from the drive to the laptop to transfer data in USB 3.1 Gen 2
(10 Gbps) mode. Connect more drives to other Gen 2 DS ports to check multiple USB 3.1 Gen 2 data transfers as required.
