Getting started
Thank you for purchasing our product.
The purpose of CPR is to supply oxygen to the brain and heart of a casualty whose heart has stopped beating normally. Applying chest compressions correctly achieves this by causing blood
to ow, supplying oxygen to the brain and heart.
‘BRAYDEN’is the rst CPR training manikin in the world which has a blood circulation display – designed to help the student understand and remember the principles of CPR.
The product package includes the following components.

Product name
①Normal circulation indication light
This illuminates to represent that blood is reaching the brain. When the depth and
speed of the compressions are correct, the light will illuminate. The brightness of the
light varies according to the depth of the compressions.
②Blood circulation indication lights
T
hese illuminate to represent the ow of blood from the heart to the brain. The speed
of the blood ow varies according to the depth and speed of the chest compressions.
③Compression depth indication lights
T
hese illuminate to represent the volume of blood being circulated by the chest
compressions. This volume depends upon the depth of the compressions – deeper
compressions illuminate the lights for a longer time, shallower compressions
illuminate the lights for shorter time.
④Power switch
T
his turns the manikin on and o.
⑤Power status indicator lamp
When the manikin is switched on, a green light indicates that it is operating normally,
a ashing red light indicates that the batteries are running low.
⑥AC adaptor connection
C
onnect the optional AC adapter here.
⑦Clicker On/O switch
A
‘clicker’which sounds with each compression over 5㎝in depth can be turned on or
o using this switch.

How to use the manikin
▒Chest compression
xTurn on the manikin.
xEnsure that the power status indicator
lamp is illuminated green.
xBegin compressions. The ‘blood circulation’and ‘compression
depth’indication lights will illuminate according to the depth
and speed of compressions.
xWhen chest compressions with excessive depth of compression
(over 6cm) are performed, all of the ‘compression depth’
indication lights will illuminate. When chest compressions with a
fast speed (over 120 times per minute) are performed, all of the
‘blood circulation’indication lights will illuminate.
xWhen chest compressions with a depth of
compression between 5cm and 6cm and a speed
between 100 times and 120 times per minute are
performed, the ‘normal circulation’indication light
will illuminate.
For more details, refer to “Change the operation
method”.
▒Articial respiration
xOpen the face
shield.
xPlace the mouth part of
face shield on the mouth of
manikin.
xOpen the airway.
xHold the nose with your
thumb and index nger, and
blow air through the mouth
for 1 second.
xVisually check that the manikin
chest is rising.

▒Change the operation method ▒Change the clicker setting
< Basic operation > < Specialized operation > < ON > < OFF >
xWhen the manikin is turned on, the manikin always operates in <basic operation>, and
when chest compressions with a constant depth of compression over 3cm for 5 seconds
are performed, it will switch to <specialized operation>.
xThe ‘normal circulation’indication light will illuminate when chest compressions with
a depth of compression over 5cm and a speed between 100 times and 120 times per
minute in <basic operation> or chest compressions with a depth of compression
between 5cm and 6cm and a speed between 100 times and 120 times per minute in
<specialized operation> are performed.
xTurn the ‘clicker’on and o using the switch as shown. The clicker makes a “clicking“
sound when the chest is compressed more than 5cm.
▒Note
xWhen the manikin is turned on, a one-time automatic calibration will be carried out for approximately 2 seconds.
It is recommended that chest compressions on the manikin not be performed when automatic calibration is being carried out.
xIf the chest compression is not detected for 2 seconds, the blood circulation indication lights, the compression depth indication lights and the normal circulation indication light will
be turned o and the manikin will enter stand-by mode. When in stand-by mode, the power status indicator lamp will ash green.
xWhen the user carries out chest compressions again while the manikin is in stand-by mode, the chest compressions will be detected automatically and the indicators will operate
again. However, if left in stand-by mode for 30 minutes, the manikin will switch itself o to conserve the batteries. To switch the manikin on again, slide the power switch to the ‘o’
position for more than 2 seconds and then switch it on again.
xWhile in stand-by mode, the power consumption is very low. However, we recommend that you switch o the manikin when not in use.
xIf the battery is low, the power status indicator lamp will ash red. At this time, replace the battery with a new one.
