INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPDATING THE INTEL®
FALCON™ 8+ UAS AND BATTERY FIRMWARE:
Estimated completion time: Approximately 1 hour.
Step Instructions Description
0Before starting, gather the
following:
1. Intel® Falcon™ 8+ UAV (F8+) 1
2. Intel® Falcon™ 8+ Cockpit Controller (CTR) 1
3. Intel® Powerpack batteries All
4. Computer with internet connection 1
5. Formatted USB storage drive 2
6. New Intel® Powerpack battery charger (enclosed) 1
7. Blue circle stickers (enclosed) 1 Sheet
1Download latest F8+
rmware

• Download latest system rmware from
Intel Download Center website:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26931/
Downloads-for-Intel-Falcon-8-
• Save “TRINITY.ATF” rmware le onto one formatted
USB drive, and “COCKPIT.ATF” rmware le onto the
other formatted USB drive.
2Update F8+ with rmware 1
Update CTR with rmware 1
• Insert USB with “TRINITY.ATF” into UAV and power on
using two fully charged batteries.
• System rmware and battery rmware updates will
automatically install.
• Upon completion of system rmware update, power
o UAV and remove both batteries.
• Insert USB with “COCKPIT.ATF” into CTR and power
on. Upon completion of system rmware update,
power o CTR.
3Mark updated batteries with
blue sticker
• Apply enclosed blue circle sticker to the backside
of each updated battery.
1 Version 1.7.2, or later

4Conrm each updated
battery charges with new
charger
Connect updated battery to new charger.
Observe if LEDs begin ashing.
• Flashing LED lights will indicate charging has begun.
The battery rmware update was successful.
Proceed with step 5.
• If LED lights do not ash, the rmware update
was not successful. Repeat step 2.
Note: A partially depleted battery is required to conrm
charging. Fully charged batteries will not charge further.
5Update rmware for all
remaining batteries
Install two additional batteries into F8+.
6Power on UAV and CTR Once a connection is established between the F8+ and
CTR, battery rmware will begin updating automatically.
7Monitor battery rmware
update
View UAV battery update progress on CTR status menu.
Each battery update status will reach 100% when
complete (<1 minute).
8Continue updating one battery
at a time with UAV powered on
Remove one updated battery, and insert non-updated
battery into free slot (hot-swap).
Conrm each updated battery charges with new charger
as shown in step 4.
9Mark updated batteries with
blue sticker
Apply enclosed blue circle sticker to each updated
battery as shown in step 3.
10 Update remaining batteries Repeat steps 8 and 9 for each battery, including battery
installed in CTR.
11 Deploy new charger for all
future charging
• Use new charger for all future battery charging.
• Old chargers are no longer compatible with updated
batteries. Discard old chargers according to local laws.
• Visit Intel Download Center for more information.
• If battery does not properly function after update, contact
Intel Customer Support. Resource link on last page.
