Booting
Uponreceivingelectricalpower,the6500/6550 Computer
bootsimmediatelywith noactionrequired. Onpowerup,
the6500/6550 Computer conductsaPower-OnSelf-Test
(POST),runsahardwareinitializationprogram,andthen
bootsDOS.Thesystem thenprocessestheCONFIG.SYS
andAUTOEXEC.BATstart-upfilesfrom thebootdrive,
whichistypicallytheFlashDrive(C:).Whenthebootpro-
cess iscompleted,theC:promptisdisplayedonthescreen.
IfWindowsisinstalled,thesystemloadstheWindows
Graphical UserInterface(GUI).
PC Cardsappearasuniquedrivesofthe6500/6550 Com-
puteroperatingsystem.Thedrivedesignationdependson
thePC Cardslotinwhichitisinstalled.
Reboot
Ifthesystemfreezesorlocksup duringnormaloperation,
youcanresetitbyperformingareboot.Thetype ofreboot
dependsuponthedesiredstate ofthe6500/6550 Computer
system.
Performawarmstartwhenyou:
"Needtoclearthesystem’smemorytorun anotherpro-
gram.
"Donotwant thecomputertoperformaself-test.
Youmusthaveakeyboardorkeyboardemulatorpreviously
attachedtothesystem toperformawarmboot.
Performacoldbootwhenthescreenisfrozen,orthesystem

upsequence.
