Pre-Installation Procedures
SAFETY WARNING
• Ironman 4x4 includes specific mounting hardware to ensure correct fitment to your 4WD.
The correct fitment of these components is critical for your safety.
• Do not alter or modify this product in any way. Doing so may compromise the strength and integrity of
the product.
• Ensure all bolts are tightened to the specified torque.
NOTE
• Only a competent person should perform accessory installations. It is the responsibility of this person
to ensure correct fitment.
• Whilst working on this vehicle, always use appropriate safety equipment.
• Read and understand instructions fully before commencing fitment.
• Check the hardware supplied against the contents list on the following pages.
• Do not use this product for any vehicle make or model other than specified in these instructions.
• This product and or hardware must not be modified in any way. Do not remove labels from this product.
• Recording the batch number on the customer’s job card is good
practice for future reference, or complete the information below
and file with customer job card. Batch number is located under
rear of tonneau.
• Some images contained in these instructions are generic and are a representation of the actual model

• Fitting instructions are correct at the time of publication date and Ironman 4x4 cannot be held
responsible for any vehicle changes from the manufacturer. It is the responsibility of the installer

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
• To maintain the finish of the product, wash regularly using a PH neutral car wash, hose off and
chamois dry.
• Do not use acidic or alkaline cleaners.
• Plastic components can be maintained with a silicone spray or similar (non-acidic or alkaline based).

1. Before installation, unwrap the hardware.
Open carton and unpack, taking care not to
damage or scratch in the process. Inspect for
any damage.
Ensure installation is compatible with the
vehicle make, model and year.
TIP
It is good practice to lay out all hardware to
cross-reference against the parts list and to
record the Batch Number.
We recommend separating packaging
into recyclable and rubbish, disposing of
accordingly.
2. If required, remove the sports bar from the
vehicle.
Take care to inspect any mounting holes left
after removal of the sports bar.
If necessary, coat any exposed metal with a
cold galvanising solution to protect against
corrosion.
3. Clean the top surfaces of the ute tub.
A clean surface will reduce the chance of
damage and corrosion, and improve the seal
of the Slide-Away unit on the vehicle.

4. Pull curtain forward at least two (2) slats.
a) Using a 5mm hex key, remove the clutch
protection plate. This can be found above
the label on the left hand side of the drum
assembly.
b) With a flat bladed screwdriver, turn the clutch
screw 3-4 times anti-clockwise, or until the
sliding cover rolls forward freely.
c) Slide curtain out so that sliding cover end
piece plus the two (2) slats are outside of the
drum.
d) Retighten clutch screw, and replace protective
plate.
e) Ensure the sliding curtain will not move in or
out of the drum freely.

5. Attach side tracks to main drum.
a) Align slot in bottom of side track with the
locator on the end of the main drum.
b) Start sliding track on, but do not pull all the
way back.
c) Check the end of the sliding cover. There is a
plastic interface that slides into a cut out on
the vertical inside face of the side track.
d) Ensure the end of the sliding cover is located
in the track before pushing all the way back.
The five (5) metal fingers should be sitting
above the sliding cover.
Repeat procedure on opposite side.

6. Secure side tracks to main drum.
a) For this step, it may be best to rest the main
drum with loosely attached side tracks on its
end as shown.
b) Insert six (6) x fasteners - Three (3) per side
(B2).
NOTE
Threadlock has been pre-applied to the
fasteners. If the fasteners need to be removed
for any reason, a medium strength thread
locking compound (e.g. blue) should be
reapplied.
c) Use a 5mm hex key to tighten.

7. Install top cover to Drum using fastener pack
(B2).
a) Separate tops and bottoms from plastic caps.
b) Place top cover over drum. Align cover holes
with threaded holes in the metal fingers on
the drum.
c) Place a plastic cap base in each hole.
d) Insert and fasten a screw with a Phillips head
screwdriver.
e) Snap in a plastic cap over the top.
NOTE
Before proceeding, check Step 10.
Consider drilling drain holes at the front of the
tub now while the Slide-Away can be easily
moved.
8.
WARNING
This is a minimum two person job.
Lift drum and side track assembly onto
vehicle tub.
If the cabin end of the tub sits lower than the
sides, apply foam tape (A6) to ensure a good
seal.
Angle the supplied aluminium positioning bar
(A4) into the tracks and straighten up to be
parallel with the slats.
Slide to the end of the tub and leave in place
to keep tracks square during next steps.
NOTE
Check:
The unit is sitting square on the vehicle tub.
The rubber lips on the side tracks are not
caught up.
The rubber flap is not caught between the
drum and the tub. The flap should hang
between the tub and cab.

9. Check the rubber flap that runs the width of
the unit is not touching the back of the cab.
WARNING
If the rubber flap is touching the back of the
vehicle cab, it will rub paint off.
Trim the rubber overhang using a sharp knife
and ruler as a guide.
10. Install the rubber covers (A8) into the front of
each track, using the lower slot.
NOTE
Notch in the rubber cover should match the
slot in the track.
WARNING
Not fitting these rubber covers will increase
the likelihood of water ingress.

11. Attach tub brackets.
a) Slide M6 x 25 mm T-Bolts (B8) into the
underside of the side tracks.
b) Attach the L-bracket with the long slot to the
T-bolt, and loosely secure with an M6 nut
using a 10mm spanner. (A11, A14, or A16,
depending on model).
c) Slide the vertical bracket into place behind
the horizontal bracket, using the half-moon
opening. (A11, A14, or A16, depending on
model).
The top of this bracket should sit on the
underside of the tub lip.
If the tub liner needs to be cut for access
to the underside of the lip, mark around the
edge of the brackets, cut liner, and then
continue.
d) Loosely secure two (2) brackets together
using the M8 bolts with captive washer and
spring washer (A7).
e) Insert a long bolt through the bottom hole of
the bracket, then attach a rubber stopper to
the end (A7). Drive until the rubber stopper
fixes hard against inside face of tub.
f) DO NOT fully tighten brackets at this stage.
