1 Description
JAUDT tight slide gates serve to block the flow of liquids and of bulk materials ranging from free-flowing
powders to fine particles. JAUDT tight slide gates are robust, form a tight seal, and require minimal
maintenance.
The sliding metal plate closes the inlet cross-section. At the limit of travel, a pressure screw on the shift
linkage activates the 3/2-port directional control valve. The Airmatik seal is charged with air and pressed onto
the sliding plate. This provides a sound seal to the valve opening.
When opening, the cylinder is switched using the 5/2-port directional control valve and the Airmatik seal is
emptied of air.

5.2 Arrangement of the Airmatik seal
General:
A positive fit is maintained on the Airmatik seal (2) using a profiled groove in the adaptor ring (6) of the
housing. Pressurisation is effected via the pneumatic connection on the housing and can only occur once the
sliding plate (1) is fully closed. This is achieved by setting the mechanical valve to the( “Closed”) position.

Operating instructions DS 6108
© DS_EN_Rev03-2010.doc Page 9 of 13
5.3 Replacing the Airmatik seal
Changing the seal:
Screw the seal connector (3) out of the adaptor ring.
Remove the adaptor ring from the housing, taking care not to damage the profiled groove.
Lift the Airmatik seal (20) in one place using a screwdriver, and then remove from the profiled groove together
with the valve connector (21). Check the profiled groove and if necessary remove any dirt and marks present.
Lightly lubricate the O-ring on the valve connector for the new seal and first carefully insert the new Airmatik
seal completely at the valve connector location. Starting from the valve connector, evenly introduce the
Airmatik seal in both directions into the groove.
Attention: Damage to materials!
Do not use any tools with sharp edges, e.g. small screwdrivers, when installing the new Airmatik
seal!
Make sure the slide gate connection is properly located!
Check that the Airmatik seal is optimally seated in the profiled groove – the Airmatik seal must disappear
completely into the profiled groove while no pressure is being applied
Replace the adaptor ring into the housing, replacing the O-ring if necessary.
Screw the seal connector with the sealing tape back into the adaptor ring.
