As with all mechanical components, the tricycle is subject to wear and tear and high stresses. Dierent materials and
components may react to wear or stress fague in dierent ways. If the design life of material has been exceeded, it
may suddenly fail possibly causing injury to the rider. Any cracks, scratches, changes of colour in the paint in high stress
areas indicates the life of that component has been reached and should be replaced.

How To Assemble This Tricycle
Assembly Instrucons
Your trike has been pre-assembled. It requires only a few simple steps to get it ready for your rst ride.
1. Remove the outside carton aer cung the nylon bands and taking o the lid. Carefully remove your trike from the
box and gently rest it in place.
2. Remove all the inside cardboard protecon and bubble wrap.
3. Locate and set aside the kit box containing the pedals, this user’s manual, and tool kit.
4. Install the front wheel by lining up the disc brake and place the fork of the trike onto the front wheel. (You may need
to remove the spacer between the disc brake pads)
5. Insert the quick release skewer & turn the skewer adjusng nut clockwise to ghten it. Keep turning the adjusng
nut unl you see or feel the nut contact the face of the dropout.
6. Next, try closing the lever. Your goal is to ghten the adjusng nut enough so that the lever can be fully closed and
closing it requires signicant force. You want it to be hard to close, you want to see a lever mark on your hand. If the
lever is not hard to close, hold the lever and further ghten the adjusng nut, try again. If not possible to close or its
very, very hard to close, hold the lever and slightly loosen the adjusng nut, try again. Towards the end of the
adjustment process, quite small changes, like ½ turn, of the adjusng nut are necessary. Your goal is to ghten the

adjusng nut enough so that the lever can be closed but requires signicant force to close. You want it to be hard to
close, you want to see a mark on your hand.

Fing the Stem JMT 7 13
1. Remove the white safety
cover/spacer.
2. Make sure the front fork is aligned to
the wheel.
3. Mount the handlebar onto the top of
the front fork stem.
4. Tighten the stem down with a 5mm
hex key.
5. Tighten the 2 pinch bolts on the stem
with a 5mm hex key.
6. Adjust the height by slacking the
single 5mm bolt on the right side of
the stem and adjusng the angle as
required. Then ghten.
7. Adjust the bar rotaon undoing the 4
x 4mm bolts on the face plate then
ghten evenly checking that the bars
do not move under pressure.

Fing the Pedals
Apply a small amount of grease onto the
pedal threads.
NOTE: You will see either “L” or “R” on the
end of the pedal thread. The “R” is for the
righthand pedal and needs to be turned
clockwise to ghten and the “L” or lehand
pedal Counterclockwise to ghten. Incorrect
ng can damage your crank.
Use a 15mm spanner to ghten the pedals
rmly.

Fing the Saddle
Apply a small amount of grease into the seat tube or boom of the seat post. Release the seat clamp lever and insert the seat post
into the tube and slide up and down to make sure it moves freely.
Clamp the seat post by moving the lever back to the closed posion. It should require rm pressure (enough to leave a small
imprint on the palm of your hand to close. Check the seat height so that when the pedals are set the furthest down your leg has a
slight bend.
If the seat moves when weight is put on it open the clamp and adjust the nut on the opposite side clockwise to add to the
clamping force. Adjust in ¼ turns unl the seat is secure.
Do not exceed minimum inseron mark.

Front Suspension and Sag Guide
Sag is a measurement of the amount of
suspension fork travel with the rider
staonery in their normal riding posion.
The Sag depends on the posion and weight
of the rider and should be between 15%
and 30% of the fork’s max travel depending
on the intended use and preferences. The
adjustment is made in the le-hand side leg
of the fork.
The right-hand leg controls the lock out
(prevents fork movement). This is useful
when riding on smooth terrain where
suspension is not needed.

Gears
Your Jorvik JMT model trike is equipped with 7 speed nexus hub gear driven system. The rst gear is for easier and uphill
pedalling, and the last gear is for maximum speed on level or downhill terrain. Change gears only while pedalling. When
the grip shi nexus gear selector shows ‘1’ you are in the rst gear, or the lowest gear. When it displays ‘7’ you are in the
highest gear. Adjustments require the ne tuning and should only be made by a qualied technician.
Avoid changing gears very rapidly from rst gear to the last gear or vice versa.

Throle Control JMT 9
The throle control is operated on the le-hand side of the handlebars.
You control the throle by pushing it down using your thumb, the more you press the more power is released. The
further the throle switch is from its resng posion; the more power is delivered to the motors to accelerate the Jorvik
JMT trike. When you want to slow down, you simply release the throle and let it return to its resng posion and
simultaneously apply the brakes.

Throle Control JMT 7 and 9
For 250w models the throle/walk mode is operated by tapping the (-) buon on the + - control unit (le hand side of
handlebars) unl the person walking next to a bike image is displayed, as seen in Image I. Once that mode is engaged,
keep the (-) buon held down to acvate the throle/walk mode, if you release the pressure on the (-) buon the
throle/walk mode will stop. For 500w models you control the throle/walk mode by pushing the throle lever using
your thumb, the harder you press the throle the more assist you will get, release the pressure from throle and the
trike will slow down and eventually stop.

Disc Brakes
Jorvik Tricycles are equipped with disc brakes for maximum reliability whatever the condions and load. Pulling on the
brake levers will engage the brake calliper and apply pressure from the pads to the brake rotor on the wheel. This
creates fricon slowing the wheel down. The more pressure applied the more braking force is applied and so the faster
the tricycle will come to a stop.
Braking should be done in a smooth acon. Applying the front or rear brake quickly can cause the rider to be thrown o
the saddle. Best pracce is to apply braking force evenly at rst then applying slightly more front brake to reduce the
possibility of skidding.
Disc brakes can somemes make a very light scraping noise; especially cable disc brakes, this is normal.
Warning:
Disc brakes can become extremely hot under braking. DO NOT TOUCH rotor aer use. Wet weather will
require longer braking distances and increase the possibility of skidding. Brake early and progressively in
wet or muddy condions
