Introduction
Thank you for choosing a JUWEL Aquarium product.
Our products represent over 50 years experience in the manufacturing of aquariums and their acessories applying most modern
production techniques bringing together the JUWEL Aquarium system, which is both easy to use and simple to maintain.
Please read this instruction manual carefully and completely to make sure you have received all components before setting up
the aquarium. Please observe the safety instructions and maintenance guidelines given in this manual.
This instruction manual has been carefully prepared to provide you with accurate and complete information. All efforts have been
made to ensure that the information given is correct. However, we cannot accept responsibility for printing or other errors.

NovoLux Day Control
The NovoLux Day Control allows you to control a NovoLux LED light unit.
You can define an individual light profile over the course of a day with two dimming phases (sunrise and sunset), which are
defined by starting points and duration.
The time periods in between the dimming phases (sunrise and sunset) are the standing phases, during which the last light
intensity, which has been reached, is maintained.
The electrical devices may only be operated indoors. •
In case of damage or malfunction, never open the NovoLux Day Control or repair the power cable. Always replace the
entire device in case of damage.
•
For safety reasons, it is only possible to operate the NovoLux Day Control with an original JUWEL NovoLux LED light unit
and a JUWEL power supply unit.
•
Disconnect the power plug of all devices operated in water before they come into contact with the water.•
At all times, only operate the electrical devices for your aquarium (lighting, heater, pump etc.) using an earth leakage
circuit breaker (EL circuit breaker) with a maximum tripping current of 30 mA. If the socket that you are using in your
home installation is not safeguarded with such a circuit breaker, please use a commercially available power strip with an
integrated earth leakage circuit breaker.
•
This device may only be used by children from the age of 8 and persons with impaired physical, sensory or mental
capabilities or a lack of experience and knowledge, if they are supervised or if they have been instructed regarding safe
use of the device and understand the resulting dangers. Children may not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user
maintenance may not be performed by children without supervision.

The device may contain small parts. Keep these out of reach of small children.•
Never throw the device into fire.•
Only to be installed by a qualified electrical engineer, in accordance with all applicable EN-and National Electrical Codes.•

Initial use
Connect both of the plugs (A+B) of the NovoLux Day Control with that of the NovoLux LED lamp, as well as the power cable with
the power plug, according to the illustration. The device is now switched on
Setting the time
1. Select the menu item [h] with the [Set] key:
2. Set the start time using the arrow key. Switch between hours and minutes with [SET]. Confirm the set start time with the [Set]
key.
Configuration of the light profile
Example of daytime lighting:
The first dimming phase, ‘sunrise’, starts at [h1] 10:00 a.m. and lasts for [d1] 30 minutes – so that 100% of the possible light
intensity is reached at 10:30 a.m.
The second dimming phase, ‘sunset’ [h2] starts at 5:00 p.m., also for 30 minutes [d2] – so the light intensity ends at 5:30 p.m.
with 0%.
During the standing phase (10:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.), this is the period between the dimming phases, the Novolux LED illuminates
until the start time of the next dimming phase with 100% light intensity.
First dimming phase (sunrise) [h1] / [d1]
Setting the start time
1. Select the menu item [h1] with the [SET] key:
2. Set the start time using the arrow key. Switch between hours and minutes with
[SET]. Confirm the set start time with the [Set] key.
The start time has been saved.
Setting the duration
1. Select the menu item [d1] with the [SET] key:
2. Set the duration in minutes with the arrow key (5 to 60 minutes). Confirm the set
start time with the [Set] key.
3. The duration has been saved.
Second dimming phase (sunset) [h2] / [d2]
Repeat the above-mentioned steps for the start time [h2] and duration [d2] of the
second dimming phase.

Care and maintenance
Please note that reprogramming is required after disconnecting the device from the power supply.
During care and maintenance activities, always disconnect the NovoLux Day Control from the power supply.
If necessary, we recommend cleaning with a soft cloth and mild detergent.
NOTICE:
The NovoLux Day Control must not be attached to the aquarium frame.
Optional:
The JUWEL NovoLux LED auxiliary light is also available in additional
colours and sizes for your aquarium.
Recommendation
JUWEL Digital Thermometer 2.0
To monitor the temperature we recommend the JUWEL Digital Thermometer (Part
No. 85702). Available from your JUWEL Aquarium retailer.

Proper disposal
The labelling on the product or on the accompanying literature declares that it must not be disposed of, at the end of its service
life, together with household rubbish. Please dispose of this equipment separately from other waste, to protect the environment or
public health from damage by unregulated waste disposal.
Recycle the equipment and support the sustained recycling of material resources.
Private users should contact the dealer who sold them the product or the responsible authorities, for a demonstration on how to
recycle the equipment in an environmentally friendly way.
Tip:
SmartFeed - automatic feeder
We offer you the SmartFeed automatic feeder matching all JUWEL aquariums.
It is available from specialist retailers as original JUWEL Aquarium accessory (item
No. 89010).
When your light fitting comes to the end of it’s life or you choose to update or upgrade it by replacing it. Please do not
dispose of it with your normal household waste. Please recycle where facilities exist. When you need to dispose of this
fitting, check with your retailer or local authority for suitable options. New regulations will encourage the recycling of Waste
from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (European “WEEE Directive” effective 2012/19/EC).

The connection of wires must be followed according to the illustration.•

Guarantee
We guarantee the performance of the JUWEL-Aquarium product or its accessories to the purchaser for a period of 24 months
from the date of purchase according to the following conditions:
§ 1 Extent of the guarantee
(1) This guarantee extends to the JUWEL-Aquarium product and its components excluding items subject to wear and tear such
as T5 and T8 light tubes and filter media. It is limited to the product as such and does not cover damage to other property and/or
individuals. In addition, the provisions of the product liability law apply. These provisions are not limited by the aforementioned
arrangement.
(2) It is the prerogative of JUWEL-Aquarium to decide whether the guarantee is performed by means of repair or replacement. If
neither repair nor replacement can ensure the performance of the JUWEL-Aquarium product the purchaser is entitled to demand
a reduction in price or to return the product against repayment of the purchase price.
§ 2 Guarantee period and settlement procedure
(1) The guarantee period begins on the day of the purchase of the JUWEL Aquarium product from the retailer. Claims under this
guarantee will not be honoured, if
(a) the damage is caused as a result of improper use or maintenance or nonobservance of the instructions given in this manual
(b) the product or its components have been maintained by persons or companies not authorised by the manufacturer to do so
(c) the product or its components have been damaged by mechanical means of whatsoever kind, in particular broken glass
(2) All claims under this guarantee have to be notified to the retailer, from whom the aquarium has been purchased without delay,
however, not longer than 2 weeks from the day of first occurrence of defects. Rights under the consumer protection laws will
remain unaffected.
(3) Guarantee claims will only be accepted if the validity of the claim is supported by evidence of purchase of the JUWEL-
Aquarium product. This declaration of guarantee is a translation only. In case of doubts the original
German language version prevails.
