cleaned and the power plug must be re-
moved from the socket.
If there is risk of frost, all residual wa-
ter must be removed, see the section on
“Evaporating residual water” on page 17.
The mains voltage must match the spec-
ifications on the type plate. Only con-
nect the machine to a grounded 3-pin
wall socket. If you connect the machine
incorrectly, you may lose your warranty
rights.
Do not damage the power cord by plac-
ing it on or near hot objects or over
sharp edges. Do not allow the power
cord to hang down (risk of tripping).
Do not touch the power cord with wet
hands. Do not remove the plug from the
socket by pulling on the cable. If the
power cord shows signs of damage, do
not start the machine.
If the power cord of the machine is dam-
aged, it must be replaced by the manu-

play with the machine.
Never open the lever on the machine
during the brewing, rinsing, cleaning or
descaling processes. Do not place your
fingers under the dispensing spout after
completing a process and when opening
the lever. Any residual liquid dripping
may scald you. When the brewing pro-
cess is finished, slowly open the lever to
eject the capsule; do not bend over the
capsule insertion opening (risk of hot
liquid spraying).
Never reach with your fingers into the
capsule insertion opening - risk of injury.
Do not use the machine without its drip
tray or drip grating.
Do not overfill the water tank. Never lift
the machine by its lever.

(continued)
To prevent damage to the appliance do
not use alkaline cleaning agents when
cleaning, use a soft cloth and a mild de-
tergent.
Never use a damaged or deformed cap-
sule. Only use drink capsules marked
with the K-fee® system logo and that are
intended for the machine.
Capsules to be used:
Only use genuine K-fee® system cap-
sules. Note the red K-fee® system logo
and the characteristic slotted capsule
shape.
Using non-genuine capsules involves the
following risks:
1. Health hazards
If you use non-genuine capsules, dif-
ferences in brewing process and capsule
design, it may cause hot water to escape
under high pressure - risk of scalding.
2. Damage to the machine and war-
ranty
If you use non-genuine capsules, dif-
ferences in brewing process and capsule
design, it will cause damage to the ma-
chine, which means that any warranty
claims may be forfeited.

Frequently asked
questions
The machine only works
with beverage capsules that
bear the K-fee System logo.
Why are all the buttons flashing at a fast rate?
This indicates a fault. Switch off the machine and unplug the mains cord from the wall socket.
Why is the drink not dispensed properly?
Check that the spent capsule container is not full. Press the lever down completely. If necessary,
descale the machine – refer to the section “Descaling the machine”.
Why is the drink dispensed with delay?
The machine is still heating up.
What do I do if the spent capsule container is overfull and jammed?
Try to remove the spent capsule container by jogging the container gently to and fro. The spent
capsule container will only hold up to 10 spent capsules and needs to be regularly emptied.
Why is the drink not hot enough?
Preheat the cup. If necessary descale the machine – refer to the section “Descaling the machine”.
Why does the machine switch itself off suddenly when it is used intensively?
If used intensively, the machine may switch itself off as protection against overheating. In this case,
allow the machine to cool down for approximately 30 minutes before using it again.
What happens if I lose or break a part of the coffee machine?
Where can I obtain suitable cleaner and descaler?
Only liquid cleaning and descaling solution (not tablets) should be used in the K-fee System machine.
For more information and availability, call the K-fee System Hotline on 1800 469 373 or send an
How often should I descale the machine?
We recommend that you descale your machine approximately once a month or as required. The fre-
quency depends on the water hardness and how frequently the machine is used. Never use vinegar,
vinegar cleaners or citric acid as they can result in damage to the machine. Only use a descaling
solution (not tablets).

Information on Automatic Switch-off
The machine switches off automatically if it is
unused for more than 5 minutes. Please remem-
ber that the machine uses power as long as it is
plugged into the mains socket (< 0.5 W).

17
Evaporating
residual water
With this function, any residual water in the ma-
chine is evaporated and removed as a prepara-
tion for transport or storage. Furthermore, this
prevents any residual water from freezing in the
machine when the machine is transported or
stored at temperatures below freezing point.
CAUTION
Extreme temperatures may cause dam-
age to the machine (permitted operat-
ing temperature 10°C - 45°C). For this reason
the machine
- must be protected against frost,
- must not be used at temperatures below 10°C,
- must not be used at temperatures over 45°C.
Procedure
• If necessary, warm up the machine until it
reaches room temperature.
• Open and close the lever in order to eject any
existing capsule.
• Take out and empty the water tank.
• Ensure that the machine is switched off.
WARNING
Risk of scalding! The evaporation pro-
cess results in hot steam (up to 120°C)
and hot water.
Do not reach under the spout and maintain a
safe distance from the spout.
• Depress the “small cup” and the milk/rinse
button at the same time. Now press the on/off
button. Evaporation starts and the “large cup”
button flashes green.
• After the evaporation process the machine
switches off automatically.
• Reinsert the empty water tank.
• Empty and dry the drip tray and spent capsule
container.
• Use a dry cloth to wipe the front of the hous-
ing.
