1.- INTRODUCCIÓN
1.1.-Foreword
Stretcher-cartTG-880 and MTR-120 JUPITER has been specifically designed for rescuing
and transporting patients.
The compact stretcher TG-880 C have been tested in accordance with standard UNE-EN
1865 and UNE-EN 1789.
All information regarding treatment, disinfection and maintenance is indicated, taking into
consideration our current experience and know-how. The drawings are not on a 1:1 scale.
We reserve the right to change the specifications of the stretcher to improve the products.
1.2.-Responsibility and warranty
The cart and stretcher must be inspected upon delivery to the rescue organization. All its
functions must be explained in great detail. The assistance organisation must take charge of
teaching all its employees how to use it correctly.
The product has a 24-months warranty from the delivery date to the end user (see the terms
and conditions la Garantía and the Warranty Certificate which is supplied with the product).
La Garantía will not cover the fault if that fault is due to incorrect installation, mistreatment or
improper use of the stretcher. All repairs must be made by a technical service authorised by
Kartsana or its respective representative.
The manufacturer will not be liable for any damage to the stretcher-cart due to using any
products other than original Kartasana products.

Through this sign, information is furnished relative to important safety measures
for properly using the stretcher-cart in order to prevent accidents.

2.1.-Technical characteristics

handling the stretcher
To reduce the risk of
injuries to the patient and accompanying persons in the event of an accident, it is
advisable to avoid sharp edges and projecting parts inside the ambulance, paying special
attention to the areas nearest the stretcher.To prevent injuries to limbs and other body
parts, make sure they are not within the range of the moving parts of the stretcher.
Note: The front part of the stretcher corresponds to the head part.

2.2.1.- Removable cuffs
To remove the 4 grips from the ends, press the button located on the top of the grip,
and then pull on the grip to extent its length until it reaches the stop.
To return the cuff to its original position, press the top button again and push it as far
as it will go in the original position.
2.2.2.- Adjustable reclining
headrest
Apply the lever below the headrest and move it to the required position. Then release
the lever so that the headrest is locked in the required position.
The setting of the shock absorber can become loose because of temperature
fluctuations and thus it does not remain in its setted position. This is no defect and no
case of warranty. The shock absorber can easily be re-adjusted following the
instructions in the separately attached instruction sheet.
2.2.3.- Adjustable leg rest
Button for adjusting the leg inclination
The required inclination of the leg rest can be obtained by pressing button A and
moving the leg rest manually. Once the correct inclination has been reached,
release button A to automatically lock the leg rest.

Button for adjusting the foot inclination
Press button B to change the feet inclination to the required position without
changing the inclination of the legs, moving it only in the direction shown in the
figure below and releasing it once the desired inclination is obtained.
2.2.4.- Safety rail
The safety rail has a red bar that locks the rail into place. To lower the rail, just
press the bar as shown in the figure below. To lock it in the safety position again, move
it to that position manually, and it will automatically lock into place.

The stretcher comes with a drip holder located on the left hand side. Using trigger “A”
located at the bottom, the entire drip stand assembly is fastened to the side profile
where desired. Unscrewing the silver knob “B” we lift the drip stand section to the
vertical position perpendicular to the stretcher, then we twist the knob again.
The length of said drip pole may be lengthened or shortened pressing a small
positioner locatedon the inner side, raisingthe hookuntil the upper position is reached.
The maximum load allowed
for the drip pole is 6 Kg.

Place the clasps (C) in the position shown in the figure above. Pass the male
part of the buckle (D) between the openings (C) until it is inserted into the female
part B. Once the assembly is anchored in place, centre and tauten the assembly,
adjusting the tension of the belt at ends A and/or E. (In the feet belt the C
fasteners do not show).
2.2.7.- Method for fastening the safety belt on the patient’s stomach
It is advisable for this belt to be attached to the stretcher to ensure the
complete safety of the patients and guarantee compliance with the
UNE-EN 1865 standard test that is performed.
Put the female part of the buckle A and male part B in the position shown in the
figure below and insert the latter into the slot in the former. Once the assembly is
firmly secured, centre and tauten it, adjusting the tension of the belt at end C.
It is advisable to ensure that while the patient is on the stretcher, he/she
is secured at all times by the safety belts.
2.2.8.- Dismantling-assembly of the stretcher belts.
There are two different types of achoring for the stretcher belts:
- Anchoring with a ring.

To dismantle the belts, pass the belt through the buckle slot as shown in the
following figure. To assembly it, just follow the same process but in reverse order.
- Anchoring with a plate.

screws to ‘B’ nuts located at the bottom of the aluminium guide profile. See the
figure below.

2.2.8.1.1.- Lateral belts.
The belts are positioned atthe approximate distances shown in the figurebelow.
2.2.8.1.2.- Headrest belts.
The headrest belts must go through the holes in the head rest and must be
secured in the panel crosspiece with rings (09-027) as shown in the following
figure.

2.2.9.1.- Rear controls
Blue (right): Folds/unfolds the backleg of the cart.

Orange (left): Folds/unfolds the intermediate positions of the front leg of the
cart.
Note: If the cart is to be folded, release the control just before the leg reaches
the fully folded position. To activate the intermediate positions, release the
control when the leg starts to move. If the intermediate position is not correct,
apply the control again until the leg is locked in the correct position. Every time
the leg is activated, check it is locked by the click that guarantees this.
2.2.9.2.- Front control
•Blue trigger: Operates the intermediate positions of the frontleg of the cart
(the starting point must be the unfolded position).
Note: To return the leg to its original unfolded position, activate the front control
and then raise that part of the stretcher manually so that the leg returns
automatically. Just before the leg reaches the original unfolded position, release

the control so that when the leg reaches that postion, the click can be heard,
indicating the leg is locked and thereby ensuring it is fixed in the original unfolded
position.
•Red pull ring: Activates the
intermediate positions of the front leg of the (the starting point is the
unfolded position).
In order to actuate the red pull ring, first we must unfold the movable grip
to unlock it. Then, pull on the red control. See figure
2.2.10.- Intermediateposition of the cart

The cart has several intermediate positions that place the cart at different heights with
respect to the ground in order to transport the patient to another stretcher or to unlock
the stretcher from the cart. Therefore, the right hand must securely hold the cart to
raise it slightly, relieving some weight off the legs and theanchoringmechanism.Then,
use your left hand to actuate the bluecontrol located on the front while holding on
securely to the cart. Now the cart can be placed at the required height. Maintain the
cart securely held until a clear snapping sound made by the hook is heard.
To ensure the safe treatment of the patient, the intermediate position should
always be activated by two people. In addition, the safety belts must be placed
on the patient and the rails raised before activating the intermediate positions.

Achieved by moving the (blue or red) front control and the (blue) rear control to the
first position.

Actuate the levers with your foot in order for the brake to lock the rear wheels. That
special brake locks both the longitudinal and the rotating movement of the stretcher.
Function of operating lever for 4- pivoting wheels
(only with Jupiter C4)
The front pivoting wheels are released or fixed by laterally switching the black lever to
right or left. The adhesive label shows the position of the wheels.
Attention! Release the front pivoting wheels only in highest position.
In the intermedaite heights the front wheels must be fixed.

2.2.12- Installing the cart on the ambulance’s stretcher holder
Kartsana recommends that the anchoring of the stretcher-cart to the
ambulance is carried out using Kartasana rail R-450N and R-414, which have
been specifically designed for this purpose.
Move the cart to the ambulance platform and place the front leading wheels (wheels
100 mm in diameter), on the stretcher holder and if the platform incorporates the
kartasana rail, place the aforementioned leading wheels on the outside of the rails.
Then actuate the front wheels control to fold the front wheel (blue control) and insert
the stretcher into the stretcher holder up to the rear wheels. At this point, activatethe
rear wheel control (orange) to Fol. It.
After actuating the orangecontrol, part of the weight of the rear end of the
stretcher must be supported, and so it will be necessary to hold it firmly with
both hands.
Once the aforementioned process has been executed in full, the cart can be inserted
completely into the stretcher holder, until it locks in place at the front and rear. The
Kartsana rail anchors the stretcher-cart at the front by means of two anchoring points
and one anchoring point at the rear (see the figures below) These anchoring points
prevent the stretcher-cart from overturning in the event of an accident. If the Kartasana
rails are not used, it is recommended that the anchoring of the front section of the
stretcher-cart is carried out through the ends of the stretcher’s rear bar as shown in
the diagram.

3.-DISINFECTION
When disinfecting the stretcher, use products that will not damage the surface of the
materials and wipe with a cloth or something similar. If the surface to be disinfected is
greased, regreased it after disinfecting it.
All disinfectants must be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
The manufacturer will not be held responsible for any anomaly or damage caused by
using a cleaning product that could damage the stretcher-cart material surfaces.
To ensure the hygiene and proper conservation of the product components, the
manufacturer recommends that they be disinfected after each use.
4.-MAINTENANCE
Inspect and lubricate the interior of the leg guides every two months (see item number
60 in the exploded view attached to cart TG-880, pages 21 and 22).
Also check and grease the wheels on the cart and the stretcher as well as the
locking systems. We recommend that maintenance be performed by a specialist from
our company every six months. During this inspection a general check will be made
to replace the parts that may be damaged or worn by use.
