MULTIPLE CHARGER POWER SOURCE
INSTRUCTION MANUAL
The KMB-27 is a power source for chargers, and is a compact steel rack unit which can hold up to six KENWOOD
desk-top chargers, models KSC-28 or KSC-37 (not mixed). The KMB-27 is a UL listed I.T.E. power source, is
certified to UL and CSA safety standards, and is provided with a three-wire grounded power cord for 120V AC
operation. The KMB-27 is intended for desktop or shelfmounted installation, in weather-protected, dry locations
(indoors only). Optionally; 2 units may be fastened side by side using supplied hardware.
BEFORE APPLYING POWER
IMPORTANT! This unit is designed for 120V AC operation, only.
WARNING!
A
1.To prevent fire or electrical shock, DO NOT expose this appliance to rain or moisture.
2. No user serviceable parts inside. Refer service to a qualified service organization.
3. To avoid the risk
of electric shock, under no circumstance should the unit be opened. There are no user adjustments
inside.
4. Do not connect, disconnect, or operate the supply in a damp or wet location.
5. Do not pull the
power cord to disconnect the supply. Grasp the plug with dry fingers, taking care not to touch the
"live" pins.

1. This Manual contains important safety and operating instructions for the KMB-27 power source.
2. Before using this power source, read all instructions and cautionary markings on the (1)
power source, (2) batteiy
charger, (3) battery, and (4) the product using the batteiy.

CAUTION: To reduce the risk of injury or equipment damage, use with only the specifically recommended
rechargeable battery pack models in their Kenwood chargers. Other types of batteries may burst causing personal
injury and damage.
4. Do not recharge abattery
if it is already fully charged. If you do this, you will overcharge the battery, and may
shorten its life or damaged it.
5. After recharging the batteiy, remove it from the charger. If, having recharged the batteiy, the power to the power
source is turned
off and then back on while the batteiy is still connected, recharging will start again and the
battery may be overcharged.
6. POWER SOURCE LOCATION ENVIRONMENT: Do not expose the power source to rain, snow, or moisture.
7. Use of an attachment not recommended or sold by KENWOOD may result in a risk of fire, electric shock, or
injury.
8. To reduce the risk of damage to the electric plug and cord, grasp & pull the plug rather than the cord when
disconnecting.
9. Make sure the cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected to damage or
stress, or cause personal injury.

10. An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely necessary. Use of an improper extension cord could result
in a risk of fire and electric shock. If an extensioncord mustbe used, make sure: a) That the pins on the extension
cordplug are properly wiredand in good electricalcondition: and b) That the extension cord is properly wired and
in good electrical condition: and c) That the wire size is largeenough for this power source. For cord length
within 100 feet or less, wire size should be not lessthan 18AWG. For cord length within 150 feet or less, wire
size should be not less than 16 AWG.
11. Do not operate the power source with a damaged cord or plug - replace the KMB-27 immediately.
12. Do not operate the power source
if it has received a potentially damaging sharp blow, has been dropped, or has
otherwise been damaged in any way: Take it to a qualified serviceman.
13. Do not disassemble the power source, or any Kenwood adapters or accessories. Take it to a qualified serviceman
when service or repair is required. Incorrect re-assemblymay result in the risk of electric shock or fire.
14. To reduce the risk of electric shock, unplug the power source from the AC power outlet before attempting any
maintenance or cleaning. Turning off controls will not reduce the risk of shock or fire; the plug must be removed
from the AC outlet.

Locking Bar "A" for KSC-28 (larger bar)
Locking Bar "B" for KSC-37 (smaller bar)
2 Black Phillips #6-32 x lA" Machine Screws (For joining two or more KMB-27).
2 Black Phillips #6-32 x 3/8" Machine Screws (For Locking Bar).

COMBINING TWO CHARGER ADAPTORS
Two or more KMB-27 power sources can be joined side by side to accommodate several sets of radios. Captive nuts
are on the right side (facing) and matching holes are on the left side
of the KMB-27. Two extra black machine screws
are provided to attach asecond KMB-27. Attach the KMB-27 units BEFORE installing chargers.
ASSEMBLY
1. Optional; 2 units may be fastened side-by-side using 2 supplied black Phillips screws. Join the units before
installing charger cups. Captive nuts are on the chassis sidewall right side (facing), & matching screw holes are on the
left side.
2. Do not connect the AC line cord until after all chargers are installed, and the charger-locking bar is secured in
position. Install up to six Kenwood KSC-28 OR KSC-37 chargers (do not mix chargers).
a) Unpack the charger cups (transformers will not be used) from each radio carton.
b) Install three chargers in the front row & three chargers in the top rear row with a DC power cord plugged
in completely into each charger base. Slide the front edge of the bottomchargers under the KMB-27
front sloping edge.
c) Lock the chargers in place with either larger lockingbar "A" (KSC-28), or smaller bar "B" (KSC-37)
using the 2 supplied black Phillips machinescrews.Be careful not to pinch any DC power cords when
the bar is installed. (Store the unused locking bar for possible future use.)
3. Remove all packing material before operation. Do not block the vents.
4. Do not operate in or expose the KMB-27 power source to direct sunlight, heat, dampness, or precipitation.
5. Do not drop or insert conductive material, or any material, into the ventilation slots.
6. NOTE: Fully loaded with chargers, radios & batteries, the KMB-27 weighs up to approximately 8 pounds (3.6kg).
7. Desk- top location: LIFT, DO NOT DRAG. The KMB-27 weighs approximately 8 pounds (3.6kg) fully loaded.
Skid marks may be left on the desk- top.

2. CONNECTION & OPERATION
CONNECTION: Connect the AC plug to an unswitched 120VAC power source only after all chargers are installed
in the adapter and the charger locking bar is secured.

4. CLEANING: Disconnect AC power. Do not use any kind of solvent or abrasive. Use only a water dampened, soft
cloth to wipe the unit. Dry the unit before reconnecting AC power.
5. SERVICE
1. Retain your bill of sale as proof of purchase.
2.
If an abnormal odor or smoke is detected, immediately disconnect the AC cord.
3. Determine
if the trouble is a single charger cup or the KMB-27 power source. If the problemisacharger cup,
contact your dealer or Kenwood for charger cup replacement instructions.
4. Pack the defective KMB-27 in the original, or an equivalent box & packing. Include a note explaining the reason
service is required. Provide your name, shipping address, phone number(s) & email address so that we may contact
you, if required.

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Do not use the KMB-27 power source in high-temperature>35° C (95° F) or high humidity environments, in
direct sunlight, or near a heater.
2. Do not subject this charger adapter to undue vibrations or physical impact.
3. Make sure that the battery pack(s) or radios are properly installed and connected.
4. Clean the charger adapter with a soft cloth.
5. NEVER use solvents, such as thinner and benzene, for cleaning.

HOW LONG IS THE WARRANTY
This Warranty will remain in effect for one (1) year for accessories, measured from the date of purchase by the first end user.
WHO IS PROTECTED
This Warranty is enforceable only by the first end user.
WHAT IS COVERED AND WHAT IS NOT COVERED
Exceptas specifiedbelow,this Warrantycoversall defectsin materialsand workmanship in KenwoodLandMobileRadios&accessories. The
following are not covered by the Warranty:
1. Damage, deterioration or failure resulting from:
A. Accident, misuse,abuse, neglect, unauthorizedproduct modificationor failureto followinstructions contained in yourOwner's
Manual.
B. Repair or attempted repair by anyone not authorized by Kenwood
C. Installation of partsor accessories thatdonot conform tothequalityorspecifications of theoriginalpartsor accessories.
D. Installation of theproduct in, or removalof theproductfrom,thevehicleor othersite of its use.
2. Damageor loss occurring during shipment of the product (claimsmust be presentedto the carrier).
3. Any unit, which is not new whensold to the first end useror uponwhichthe serialnumberhas been defaced, modifiedor removed.

WHAT WE WILL PAY FOR AND WHAT YOU MUST PAY FOR
Kenwood will pay all labor and material expenses for items covered by this Warranty. If it is necessary to ship the product for Warranty service,
you are responsible for the initial shipping charges, but we willpay the return shipping charges if the product is repaired or replaced under
Warranty. You are responsible for any charges incurred in removing the product from the vehicle or other site of use and for reinstallation of the
repaired or replaced product.
HOW TO OBTAIN WARRANTY SERVICE
This Kenwood Land Mobile Radio accessory may be serviced by Tamura Corp of America. Whenever the product is presented for warranty
service, you must supply a sales receipt or other evidence of the date of purchase.
EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES AND DAMAGES
Unless considered unlawful or unenforceable under applicable law:
A. ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR
PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE LENGTH OF THIS WARRANTY.
B. KENWOOD'S LIABILITY UNDER THIS WARRANTY IS LIMITED TO REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT, AT KENWOOD'S OPTION, OF
ANY DEFECTIVE PRODUCT, AND SHALL NOT INCLUDE DAMAGES, WHETHER INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR OTHERWISE.
This Warranty is enforceable only in the United Sates of America. WarrantyService must be obtained in the United Sates of America.
