meet your expectations.
1. General description of the product
Our Company, Kermann Technical Developer and Consulting Ltd. is engaged in the design and
manufacturing of LED lighting equipments, for industrial use. Our Kermann ExProof EasyLight Z1
luminaire is primarily designed for general lighting purposes, at low to medium heights. One of its
particular features is that it can be safely used in areas with explosion hazard, subject to compliance
with the applicable rules. The light source is a LED unit of substantially high efficacy. Due to its robust
design, the luminaire is environmentally resistant (IP67 and IK09), and tolerates all other normal
operational impacts during industrial use.
Our Kermann ExProof EasyLight Z1 high performance and high efficacy LED luminaire is a perfect
solution to replace the conventional luminaires typically used - usually T8 type fluorescent luminaires
of 2x18W, 2x36W and 2x58W, high pressure sodium luminaires of 50W, 70W and 100W, and high
pressure mercury luminaires of 50W, 80W and 125W - in Zone 1 classified hazardous industrial areas
for general lighting. Due to its high overall system level efficiency, when this Product is used to replace
the previous system, the overall electricity consumption can be reduced, or the overall lighting level
can be enhanced, as needed.
This luminaire is of robust industrial design, made with an aluminum structure and a tempered glass
optical unit, to ensure that it is compliant with environmental resistance levels IP67 and IK09. This
Product can be used in Zone 1 classified hazardous areas, without any operational restrictions applied.
The luminaire’s housing is compliant with the ATEX standards of increased safety protection mode,
and the electronic space is compliant with the ATEX standards of encapsulation protection mode.
The typical beam angle of our LED luminaire is either 60° or 90°, as two optical options provided,
therefore it is perfectly suitable to provide lighting both at low heights (up to 5 m), and higher heights
(8 to 9 m).
With its multipurpose hanging bracket it can be easily mounted and fixed to the ceiling, and with
various attachment to the side walls, on light poles, or onto pipe bridges.
This explosion-proof LED luminaire is also available in dimmable version. The dimmable version is
suitable for dimming via 1-10V DC or 10V PWM methodologies. The design and installation of the other
parts of the power control system shall always be in full compliance with the standards applicable to

When you received the luminaire, please remove the packaging and check whether the luminaire
is intact and complete, without any detectable injuries. Please follow the installation instructions
provided with due care, to ensure proper operations. Please do not make any alterations to the
Product, as any alteration made will result in the Warranty provided being terminated, or lead to
hazard! The Manufacturer or Distributor refuses to take any liability for any appliance being tampered
with, or incorrectly installed!
Steps of installation:
1. The weight of the luminaire is 5 kg, the overall dimensions are shown on Figure 3. To serve
its core function, the luminaire is to be mounted on the ceiling, with the optical part of the
luminaire (see Figure 2/8: “glass optical lens”) facing downward, vertically. With various
attachments the luminaire could be mounted on side walls, light poles or pipe bridges. Once
you removed the packaging, please protect the glass optics (Figure 2/8) from any mechanical
injury, and avoid touching it with bare hands. If you see any pollution on the glass, please
clean it with a soft, absorbent piece of cloth, or detergent!
2. Please untighten the “fixture-fixing screws” shown on Figure 1, then pull the luminaire from
the “fixture-hanging bracket”, to the direction shown on Figure 1.
3. Mount the “fixture-hanging bracket” to the ceiling, or to a stand already created for such
purposes. The fixture-hanging bracket is made of stainless steel of 1.4301 material quality,
being 1.5 mm thick. The fixture-hanging bracket has two bore-holes of 8.5 mm diameter
each, with the dimensions shown on Figure 3. Please use both mounting bore-holes to fix the
plate properly! The plate can be fixed into place with the use of either screws, a wire or chain.
Optionally, other attachments can also be fixed to the fixture-holder bracket, such as a pipe
cluminaire, which enables fixing to pipe bridges, or to light poles. If you fix it with a screw,
please use 6 or 8 mm diameter fasteners, of A2 or A4 material quality, which are suitable for
bear the weight of the luminaire in the given ceiling or wall material. If you use a wire, please
use a minimum 2 mm diameter stainless steel wire. If you use a chain, please use hot dip
galvanized or stainless chain, of at least 4 mm wire diameter. If you wish to mount any other
fixtures or appliances to the luminaire, please always consult with the Manufacturer or
Distributor of the luminaire. Please always make sure that the “fixture-holding bracket” is
properly and securely fixed to the given surface. The manufacturer of the luminaire refuses
to take any liability for any potential financial or personal damages arising due to a loose or
improper mounting or fixing of the luminaire!
4. Once the “fixture-holding bracket” is in place, mounted to the ceiling or the wall, please check
whether it is safe enough to hold the weight of the fixture, at the desired place. Slide the
luminaire back onto the “fixture holding bracket”, keeping the “fixture-fixing screws” on it.
Please check whether the positioning of the 2 “fixture-fixing screws” are ok, and how they
are fixed is appropriate, on the “fixture-holding bracket”. Securely tighten the 2 “fixture-
fixing screws”, manually. Check whether the luminaire is properly attached and fixed onto
the “fixture-holding bracket”.
5. Connect the 3x1.5 mm2 diameter electric power cord coming out from the cable gland to the
electrical network, in line with the applicable standards and environmental conditions. The
luminaire shall be connected to a 230V AC, 50Hz electrical network. The luminaire has a

CLASS 1 electric protection (protected earth), and its nominal power consumption is 55W, at
maximum output level. The size and type of cable coming out of the electrical cable gland:
H05VV-F, 3x1.5 mm2 x 3m flexible PVC cable. Please lead the electrical power supply cable
leading out of the luminaire taking into account the specific environmental conditions, and
protect it from mechanical impacts.
6. The electrical power cord of the dimmable version is: H05VV-F 5x1 mm2 x 3m flexible PVC
coated cable. The dimming signal must be connected to the 2 dedicated dimming wires of
the cable. If the dimming signal is produced in the hazardous area, the dimming system must
be designed and installed in accordance with the standards of the hazardous area.
7. When connecting and installing the luminaire, make sure that the electric power cord, and
the LED cable is not too tight, no load is placed on it, and that it is not broken. The minimum
bending radius shall be 6 times the cable sheath diameter.
8. Once the luminaire is connected to the electrical network - and once the electrical network
is under 230VAC electrical voltage - the luminaire is switched on, and the light source will
emit a consistent level of light, subject to the radiation angle, depending on the type of optics
used. If any vibration or flashing is experienced, please check the electric power cord
connection. If the defect does not stop, and you did not find any contact problem in the
connection, please unplug the luminaire from the electrical network, and call our technical
department!
9. The luminaire inrush current is 55A, for a duration of 270 µs at the maximal output power.
Please take that into due consideration when installing your electric network. The luminaire
shall solely be installed and connected into the electrical network by a properly trained and
authorised specialist!

4. Operational conditions
Our Kermann ExProof EasyLight Z1 luminaire is designed for continuous industrial use, in areas with
explosion hazard. The designed environmental temperature range is set between -20 °C and +45 °C.
When the temperature stays below the minimum level for a longer time period, once the luminaire is
switched off, it might not always be able to be switched back on. If the temperature stays above the
maximum limit set for a longer time period, this might curtail significantly the life span of the luminaire.
For this reason, Kermann Technical Developer and Consulting Ltd. refuses to provide a Warranty for
the operation of the luminaires designed, and their useful lifetime, if they are operated on a permanent
basis at temperatures falling outside the range indicated!
Our luminaire has dust and water access protection, being IP67 rated, and secured against
mechanical impacts by solid objects as well, being IK09 rated. The robust design makes the luminaire
resistant to most environmental impacts, such as wind storms, with an appropriately designed fixture-
holder or light pole, however, natural disasters might still cause damage to it.

Kermann Technical Developer and Consulting Ltd.
Although the luminaire is of a robust industrial design, and the design is meant to minimise
accidental human or technical errors to occur during normal operation, all impacts of potential
deliberate abuse, vandalism, natural disasters, and lightning could naturally not possibly be considered
during product design. If any damage is caused to the luminaire as a result of these factors, the
Warranty shall not apply. Please protect the luminaire from deliberate abuse!
5. Maintenance
The luminaire has been designed to be resistant to pollution effects during permanent industrial
use, to ensure a proper product lifetime. Nonetheless, depending on the particular environmental
impacts, it might happen that a larger volume of dust or other pollution is accumulated on the
luminaire, which might have a negative impact on the luminaire’s overall operation, significantly
reducing the useful lifetime. Therefore, subject to the specific environmental factors, please make sure
that you clean the luminaire, the heat sink (Figure 1/1) and the glass optics part (Figure 2/8) at least
once a year. The luminaire can be cleaned without contact, blowing compressed air on it, or with an
antistatic brush, or scrub. The glass part shall be cleaned with a soft, absorbent cloth and detergent
(general glass cleaner) and water.
The luminaire is IP67 rated, so in justified cases, it can also be cleaned with normal tap water (at 2-
6 bar). NO steam cleaning shall be applied to the luminaire, it is strictly prohibited!
If the glass surface on the luminaire gets heavily polluted, the heat impact of the light staying within
the luminaire might damage the light source. Therefore, if you notice any major pollution effect on the
glass surface, please clean it in the way described above.
The luminaire’s mechanical parts shall be visually inspected regularly, depending on the specific
environmental factors, but at least once per year. If you notice any default operation, creating hazard
for the luminaire’s operation, its environment, or the operators, please unplug the luminaire, and call
our technical department!
Please also check the luminaire’s power supply cord at least once a year, to avoid any mechanical
injuries on it. If you notice any injury, please unplug the luminaire, and call our technical department!
6. Repair and servicing
The Kermann ExProof EasyLight Z1 explosion-proof LED luminaire is designed to minimise any
malfunction during proper use. When any malfunction is noticed with the luminaire, no ignition risk
shall arise, so even if you detect an error signal, please do not mechanically open or disassemble the
luminaire. It is PROHIBITED to tamper with the luminaire, i.e. to open it or disassemble, without the
Manufacturer’s special permission, under all circumstances - due to the explosion hazardous
environment - as it might lead to the staff being injured. If you notice any malfunction, please unplug
the luminaire, and call our customer service! The luminaire shall be unplugged and disassembled only
by skilled staff.
Unless a special contract is signed, the repair of the luminaire shall always be the Manufacturer’s
liability, and shall take place at the Manufacturer’s own site. If the luminaire is opened or
disassembled, the Manufacturer’s Warranty shall not apply.

Kermann Technical Developer and Consulting Ltd.
