Safety Informaon
Warning
This is the symbol for indicang any potenal hazard,
risk or condion requiring special aenon.
The user needs to refer to the important operang
and maintenance or servicing instrucons.
Cauon
The lighng ash with an arrow head symbol, in an
equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user.
There is dangerous “voltage” presence near by the
product’s enclosure which may be risk of person.
Safety Precauons
• Do not touch live electrical parts.
Electric shock can be avoided. Follow the recommended pracces listed below. Faulty installaon, improper
grounding, and incorrect operaon and maintenance of electrical equipment are always sources of danger.
• Do not try to install equipment outdoor, during strong wind and rain.
• Do not install or remove equipment outdoor, when raining.
• Do not try to install or operate any equipment, during a thunderstorm.
• Always ground all electrical equipment and the work plaorm.
Prevent accidental electrical shocks. Connect power source, control cabinets, and work plaorm to an approved
electrical ground.
• Always use the correct cable size.
Sustained overloading will cause cable failure and result in possible electrical shock or re hazard. Work cable
should be the same rang as the factory.
• Always keep cables and connectors in good condion.
Improper or worn electrical connecons can cause short circuits and can increase the chance of an electrical shock.
Do not use worn, damaged, or bare cables.
• Always avoid open-circuit voltage.
The added voltages increase the severity of electric shock hazard.
• Always wear insulated gloves while you adjust equipment.
Electric power should be turned o and insulated gloves should be worn when making any equipment adjustment
to assure shock protecon.

• Make sure that you are well insulated to eliminate electric stac charge.
• Always wear dry gloves, rubber-soled shoes, or stand on a dry board or plaorm.
• Always follow recognized safety standards.
• Always wear correct eye, ear, and body protecon.
• Always have second person on-site, while you work in dark, poor venlaon, or high places.
• Make sure that you are well protected against arc ashes, mechanical injury, or other mishaps.
• Make sure that the polarity of wire is correct before installing equipment.
• Always handle equipment with care.
• Do not block the venlaon of equipment.
• Do not put the magnec parts around the equipment.
• Do not put the objects on top of the equipment.

Besides using the front panel keys or the remote control, you can use a mouse to operate the DVR. Simply plug in the
supplied mouse into the USB mouse connector at the rear panel of the device.
It is recommended to use the mouse when navigang in the OSD menu.

Le-click In OSD menu, click the le buon to select and edit the seng.
Right-click In preview mode, click the right buon to display the pop-up menu.
In main menu or sub menu mode, click the right buon to exit the current menu.
Double-click the Le buon Double-click the live image of any channel for full screen display. Double-click the le
buon again to return to the window-display of all cameras.
Drag an area/line In moon mode, use this funcon to select moon area.
In [Color Setup] menu mode, it will adjust color control bar.

2.1 Installing the Hard Disk Drive
Depending on the package you have purchased, the hard disk drive may be included in the full package. If it is not pre-
installed, follow the steps below to install the hard disk drive.
You can install a 3.5” SATA hard disk drive into your DVR. Be sure to remove the power adapter before installing the
hard disk drive.
DO NOT install or remove hard disk drive while the device power is turned on.
1 Loosen the screws in the le, right, and rear sides as
shown.
2 Push back then li up the cover to remove it.
3 Connect the data and power cables to the hard disk
drive (HDD).
4 Aach the HDD to the bracket using 2 screws.
5 Aach the cover and the screws back in place.

2.2 Connecng the Power
Use only the supplied power adapter and power cord that came with the DVR.
1 Properly connect one end of the power adapter into the power cord.
2 Plug the other end of the power adapter to the power connector on the back of the DVR.
3 Plug the other end of the power cord into the wall outlet. The DVR automacally powers on.
2.3 Connecng to Monitors
The preview screen can be displayed on monitors via BNC or VGA connecon.
2.3.1 BNC Connecon
Connect the video output of the DVR to the monitor via BNC connector as shown.

2.6 Connecng to Other Devices
You can connect other devices such as mouse, speaker, or microphone to the DVR. Connect them via their respecve
cable(s) into the corresponding connectors on the back of the DVR.
• Mouse: Plug into the USB connector.
• Speaker: Plug into the audio output connectors.
• Microphone: Plug into the audio input connectors.

Chapter 3: Geng Started
3.1 Starng Up
Connect the power adapter to the DVR. See “2.2 Connecng the Power” on page 13 for further details.
The DVR automacally powers on and the 4 or 8-window display appears on the screen.
Note:
• 8-window display is shown on an 8-channel DVR, and a 4-window display on a 4-channel DVR.
3.2 Shung Down
To properly turn o the DVR power, do the following:
1 In the preview mode, right-click on the mouse to display the pop-up menu.
2Select Main Menu > SYSTEM > MAINTAIN, and double-click Power o.
You can also access the main menu by pressing the MENU buon on the remote control or the Menu key on the
front panel.
3 A warning message appears on the screen, select OK to turn o the power.
4 Wait unl the “Now you can power o!” message appears on the screen, then unplug the power cord from the
power outlet.

3.3.1 Screen Icons
There are four types of recording indicator on the main screen of each channel.

3.3.2 Virtual Keyboard
The virtual keyboard automacally appears on the screen if data entry is required.
There are two types of keyboard:
a. Full keyboard
b. Number keypad
3.3.3 Locking the Screen
For system security, lock the screen to protect unauthorized OSD operaon.
1 In the preview mode, right-click on the mouse to display the Pop-up menu.
2Select Main Menu > SYSTEM > PASSWORD.
3 Set the Password Status to Enable.
4 Enter the user name and password. Then, click Apply.
5Click OK.
6 To lock the screen, right-click to display the Pop-up menu and select Lock.

7 Once the lock funcon is acvated, you need to enter the user name and password before entering the OSD menu.
A virtual keyboard automacally appears on the screen.
3.3.3 Pop-up Menu
With Pop-up menu, you can gain access to the frequently access features. You can access the Pop-up Menu by pressing
the right buon of the mouse. The available Pop-up menu items vary depending on the current seng or operaon.
• Main Menu:
Access the main menu and adjust all sengs.
• Lock:
Lock access to enter OSD menu.
You need to enter the user name and password
before entering the OSD menu.
• Split Windows:
Congure the window display seng. See
page 23.
• PTZ:
Use the PTZ control. See page 25.
• PIP:
Congure the Picture-in-Picture (PIP) window
display. See page 23.
• Record Search:
Search for recorded videos to play back. See page 36.
• Mute On/O:
Enable/Disable mute feature.
• Manual Record/Stop Manual Record:
Start/Stop manual recording. See page 27.
• Start/Stop Rotate:
Start/Stop rotate-display mode. See page 24.
• Start/Stop Cruise:
Start/Stop cruise of the PTZ camera.
• GUI on BNC/VGA:
Switch the GUI output on two monitors (BNC or
VGA). See page 27.
