ADMIN & USER GUIDE
The Knox StationVault is our largest capacity model for storage of narcotics and other valuable or
controlled items. Security is provided through its robust construction and controlled access. Only
authorized users with a Personal Identification Number (PIN) or an override key can access the contents.

ADMIN & USER GUIDE
After the device is configured and prior to use, a USB-Mini to USB-A cable (supplied with the product) will
be used with Knox® Device Sync to initialize the unit with network settings and device settings. The cable
may also be required occasionally for major firmware updates or anytime the device’s network template
is changed.
The device is designed to be continuously powered and to have constant or intermittent connection to a
network via Wi-Fi, through a router, hotspot, or via Ethernet.
The device is accessed via the keypad using a valid PIN or via the override lock using an override key
(shipped separately).
StationVault operation is similar to other Knox®medical vaults. Capabilities include:
• Light Management: Users with Supervisor field capabilities may dim the keypad and display
• Dual PIN Use: Devices can be set to require entry of two valid PINs to release the keys
• Secure PIN use: A dispatcher using the SecurePIN generator in KnoxConnect can issue a temporary
access code for use by the requester in a particular StationVault

ADMIN & USER GUIDE
GETTING STARTED
WARNINGS:
• Installation must be completed before use. Unit must be secured to a surface according to
the StationVault Installation Guide.
• DO NOT OPERATE an unsecured unit. Injury may occur as a result of tipping.
• Comply with all OSHA safety, building, and electrical code requirements when completing
your installation.
POWER AND CONNECTIVITY
IMPORTANT: If the power is o or the electronics fail, the unit can ONLY be opened using the manual
override key. For security purposes, the manual override key may be shipped separate from the unit. If you
do not receive your manual override key, check with your department’s Knox Coordinator or contact Knox
Technical Support.
The unit is powered by a 3 amp 12VDC power supply. In addition, there is a CR2540 coin cell battery
included on the StationVault circuit board to maintain the internal clock date and time, which is required for
KnoxConnect SSL and EAP authentication.
POWER
To apply power, use the 110VAC/12VDC power supply shipped with the unit. Insert the barrel plug into
the device’s power port and plug into a standard wall outlet.
COMMUNICATION
Periodic connectivity to KnoxConnect via the Internet is required to operate this device. The device may
be configured to use Wi-Fi or Ethernet for communication. It is preferable for the device to have constant
connectivity so that PIN and configuration updates can be received as soon as they happen and enable
frequent audit trail information passing to KnoxConnect. StationVault syncs with KnoxConnect at a
maximum interval of 10 minutes while Internet access is available. If the interval has expired, or upon power
up, the StationVault will sync immediately when Internet access is available.
• Ethernet: A standard RJ45 ethernet cable is used if the device will communicate through the
building’s ethernet network
• Wi-Fi: The StationVault Wi-Fi antenna is concealed behind the device’s keypad. The unit has a range of
approximately 130 ft.
The StationVault can store up to seven networks/configurations for automatic connection.
NOTE: Refer to the Knox Networking Guide for configuring Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity and security.

DUAL PIN
• A primary or secondary administrator has the ability to enable the Dual-PIN feature for StationVault
units. If this feature is made available, it can be applied to some or all StationVaults. Dual-PIN requires
users to enter two (2) valid PINs to release the door. Definitions of PIN features are below. The default
setting is single PIN.
Standard PIN (Independent PIN) Only one PIN is required to open door
Dual PIN (Dependent PIN) Two PINs are required to open door
Supervisor PIN Supervisor PINs are non-dependent and do not require a second PIN -
also used for changing keypad/display brightness
TRANSACTION API ENROLLMENT
• A primary or secondary administrator has the ability to enable transaction data to be sent to a third
party system, such as an inventory control system. If this feature is enabled, a selection box will appear
in the device screen allowing it to be enrolled so it’s data can be included in the data feed.
• Only include units equipped with third party RF readers and that having an identity in the third
party system.

COMPLETE PROGRAMMING AND UPDATING
Once settings are completed and saved in KnoxConnect, the device can be updated. To conduct initial
configuration, use the USB cable to connect the StationVault to a computer equipped with the Knox Device
Sync App.
NOTE: The USB connection is on the front of the StationVault Door:
• KnoxConnect Cloud: Download Device Sync App from KnoxConnect (computer admin rights are
required for this step) and follow prompts to update the StationVault. You must be a Device Admin
software user or higher to conduct this step.
SYNCING THE DEVICE
After initial configuration, most PIN, configuration and firmware updates will require the following:
• KnoxConnect Cloud: The medical vaults must have access to the internet via Wi-Fi or ethernet via an
internet connected network in order to receive updates and transmit transaction history.
• The StationVault syncs with KnoxConnect Cloud at a maximum interval of 10 minutes while internet
access is available.
• If the interval has expired or the unit is first powered up the StationVault will sync immediately when
internet access is available.
To sync with KnoxConnect Local: A computer/laptop with Windows is required along with a USB to mini
USB connector (Included with StationVault) in order to update the StationVault:
• Syncing is conducted by physically connecting the Admin computer (PC/laptop) with KnoxConnect
Local via USB cable to the StationVault.

new circuit board, perform the following steps:
• From the StationVault device dashboard, select the Edit button for your StationVault
• Under the Device Hardware Programming section locate “Match door to chassis” and check the box
• Click “Save” at the bottom of the page and then the “Back” button
• On the StationVault’s keypad, press and hold the *button for five seconds to force a network sync
with KnoxConnect
• Confirm the StationVault display shows “Locked”
• Uncheck the checkbox when complete
