This manual provides identification of the Chirp 3212 Echosounder (Part number D229-04405) modules and cable
assemblies for servicing.

If the warranty period on the Chirp 3212 has not expired, please contact Technical Support prior to opening or
servicing the unit.

2 SERVICE
Please ensure that all power to the system is shut off and all external cables have been disconnected. Also if the
system has recently been powered on, please wait a few minutes before servicing to ensure capacitor drain.
Please note that the modules in the Chirp 3212 contain static sensitive components and any removal or handling of
these modules will require proper ESD procedures be followed.
2.1 System Access
Please ensure that all power to the system is shut off and all external cables have been disconnected. Also if the
system has recently been powered on, please wait a few minutes before servicing to ensure capacitor drain.
Open the outer lid of the case and remove the eighteen (18) screws on the Chirp 3212 cover plate. Lift the cover
plate from the left side and position ninety (90) degrees to the chassis as shown below. Secure the cover plate in
this position (tiewrap, etc).
