Before You Begin
CAUTION: Risk of personal injury or product damage. Cast
iron sinks are very heavy. Get help lifting the sink into place.
Read these instructions carefully before you begin this
installation.
Observe all local plumbing and building codes.
Prior to installation, unpack the new sink and inspect it for
damage. Return the sink to its protective carton until you are
ready to install it.
This sink is not intended for undercounter installation.
Inspect the drain and supply tubing. Replace if necessary.
The cabinet and frame shown in these instructions are generic
and may not represent the actual design or structure.
Due to the special nature of this installation, Kohler Co.
recommends that an experienced cabinet maker build the new
cabinet or modify an existing cabinet for this sink.
To ensure a safe and damage-free installation, two people should
install the sink.

Due to the variety of installations possible with this sink, you
may need to use procedures other than those described.

1. Wheelchair Accessibility Requirements
Provide clear floor space as shown per ANSI A117.1 (also
complies with ADA requirements).
2. Preparation
Install the water supplies and drain piping according to the
roughing-in information.
Tile-In Installations
Tile backer board installed over plywood is the recommended
underlayment for installing this sink. Tile should be bonded to
the backer board with dry set or latex Portland mortar.
Acceptable underlayments include:
•Tile backer board over 3/4″(1.9cm) exterior grade plywood
•3/4″(1.9cm) exterior grade plywood
IMPORTANT! Do not use:
•Flakeboard
•Interior grade plywood
•Gypsum wallboard
Consult with a tile contractor to determine the material to be
used.

3. Cabinet/Support Frame Construction
CAUTION: Risk of personal injury or product damage. The
wood support and frame for the sink must sufficiently support
300 lbs. (136 kg) (approximate weight of the cast iron sink when
full and with a garbage disposal installed).
Construct a wood support frame to fit inside a cabinet opening of
36” (91.4cm). Allow adequate clearance for the faucet assemblies
and sink basin.
For a barrier-free installation, the front frame member must be cut
from 2x4 (rough stock) to the size shown.

4. Support Frame Installation
Tile-In Installations
This sink is designed to be installed flush with or slightly lower
than the surrounding tile. Measure and compare the thickness of
the sink rim and tile. The rim thickness on this sink is plus or
minus 1/32” (1mm). Take these measurements into consideration
when determining the support frame placement. Because of the
varying thickness of the tile and sink, or if adhesive or mortar
bed installation is used, you may need to make allowances to
shim the sink, or route the underlayment as required.
Undercounter and Solid Surface Installations
Position the support frame in the cabinet opening so when
installed, the top of the sink will be level and flush with the top
of the cabinet.

NOTE: Ensure that the securing hardware will not penetrate
through the cabinet walls.
Secure the support frame to the cabinet. Position the securing
hardware to allow for easy removal should the sink need to be
removed or replaced.

5. Install Mounting Bracket for Optional Shroud (K-6543)
Install Wall Bracket: Install the wall bracket on the back wall
with the bottom of the bracket 14-1/4″(36.2 cm) above the floor
using four #8 x 1″wood screws and wall plugs (included) if
needed.
Install Mounting Bracket: Snap the clip-on receptacle over the
large holes in the mounting bracket as shown. Install the
mounting bracket onto the bottom of the front support frame
member using two #8 x 1″wood screws (included). The edge of
the mounting bracket should be aligned with the edge of the
front support frame member.

6. Tile-In Installation
CAUTION: Risk of personal injury or product damage. Cast
iron sinks are very heavy. Get help lifting the sink into place.
Verify that the sink will fit in the cabinet opening. If necessary,
sand the opening or add wood filler strips.
Install the strainer or garbage disposal to the sink according to
the manufacturer’s instruction.
Install the faucet to the sink according to the manufacturer’s
instructions.
Apply a 1” (2.5cm) spot of sealant at each corner of the frame
where it will contact the sink.
NOTE: If using shims, additional sealant will be needed.
Carefully position the sink within the frame, making sure to
center the sink in the cabinet.
Verify that the sink is level. Adjust or shim between the sink and
support if needed.
Apply sealant in the spaces between the sink and the cabinet and
along the sides and back of the sink.
Install the tile. To absorb vibration from a garbage disposal, apply
sealant between the sink and tile directly next to the sink rim.
This will prevent the grout around the sink from cracking.

Connect and tighten the trap to the strainer, and complete the
water supply connections to the faucet according to the
instructions packed with the faucet.
Run water into the sink and check for leaks.
Clean up with a non-abrasive cleaner.

7. Undercounter Installation
CAUTION: Risk of personal injury or product damage. Cast
iron sinks are very heavy. Get help lifting the sink into place.
Verify that the sink will fit in the cabinet opening. If necessary,
sand the opening or add wood filler strips.
Install the faucet to the sink according to the manufacturer’s
instructions.
Install the strainer or garbage disposal to the sink according to
the manufacturer’s instructions.
Apply a 1” (2.5cm) spot of sealant at each corner of the frame
where it will contact the sink.
NOTE: If using shims, additional sealant will be needed.
Carefully position the sink within the frame, making sure to
center the sink in the cabinet.
Verify that the sink is level. The top of the sink should be flush
with the top of the cabinet to allow proper countertop
installation. Adjust or shim between the sink and support if
needed.
Apply sealant in the spaces between the sink and the cabinet and
along the sides and back of the sink.
Determine the countertop cut-out shape and size.

Undercounter Installation (cont.)
The countertop should overhang the sink backsplash by 1/8”
(3mm) to cover any misalignment between the sink and the
cabinet. The countertop should not overlap the front of the sink.
Due to the various cut-out sizes possible, a template is not
supplied.
Carefully measure the countertop to determine the exact location
of the cut-out.
Trace the cut-out opening onto the countertop using a soft lead
pencil.
CAUTION: Risk of product damage. Do not cut, drill, or sand
the countertop while positioned over the fixture.
Cut out the opening by carefully following the pencil line.
Sand the edge of the cut-out to smooth the surface and remove
all saw marks. For laminate-type countertops, waterproof all the
unprotected areas of wood.
Clean the top of the sink rim, making sure the surface is free
from debris. Clean the bottom of the countertop around the
cut-out area, making sure the surface is smooth and free of
defects.
Apply a generous bead of sealant around the sink rim where the
sink rim will contact the countertop.
Position the countertop over the sink, making sure the sealant
provides a complete seal between sink rim and bottom of the
countertop.
Immediately wipe away any excess sealant with a damp cloth.
Fill any voids between the rim and countertop if needed.
Allow the sealant to cure for 30 minutes before proceeding.
Connect and tighten the trap to the strainer, and complete the
water supply connections to the faucet according to the
instructions packed with the faucet.
Run water into the sink and check for leaks.
Clean up with a non-abrasive cleaner.

8. Garbage Disposal Sizes
Install the strainer and/or garbage disposal according to the
manufacturer’s instructions.
The disposal can only be installed in the left hand basin.
NOTE: Only disposals within the range of sizes listed above should
be installed in order to comply with the clear floor space
requirements of ADA specifications.
Example: If dimension ″A″of the disposal is 13-1/2″(34.3cm),
then dimension ″B″must be 7-1/4″(18.4cm) or smaller.

9. K-6543 Shroud Installation
Place the shroud into the wall bracket.
Position the pre-installed fasteners over the clip-on receptacles
(assembled to the mounting bracket).
Use a flat blade screwdriver to push and rotate the fasteners until
they pop through the clip-on receptacles.
Rotate the fasteners 1/4 turn clockwise.

Vérifiez l’état des tubes des évacuations et des alimentations.

se peut qu’ils ne représentent pas le modéle ou la structure
actuelle.
Suite aux particularités de ce type d’installation, KOHLER
recommande qu’un Entrepreneur Spécialisé en Cabineterie
construise ou modifie un meuble pour cet évier.
Pour assurer une installation sécurisé et sans dommage, deux
personnes doivent effectuer les étapes d’installation suivantes.
Étant donné le nombre d’installations possibles pour ce type
d’évier, des procédures autres que celles décrites peuvent être
nécessaires.

1. Normes d’Accessibilité aux Fauteuils Roulants
Prévoyez un espace dégagé tel qu’illustré, selon la norme ANSI
A117.1 (aussi conformément aux exigences de l’ADA).
2. Préparation
Installez les tuyaux des arrivées d’eau et de l’évacuation, selon
l’information du plan de raccordement.
Installation Des Carreaux
Pour l’installation de cet évier, nous conseillons que les carreaux
soient collés sur du contreplaqué. Les carreaux doivent être collés
avec un ciment sec ou du mortier de Portland en latex. Les
sous-couches acceptables incluent :
•Plaque d’appui de 3/4″(1,9 cm) en contreplaqué extérieur
•Bois contreplaqué de 3/4″(1,9 cm) pour l’extérieur.
IMPORTANT ! Ne pas utiliser :
•Aggloméré
•Bois contreplaqué d’intérieur
•Panneau de revêtement de plâtre
Consultez le Fabriquant des carreaux afin de déterminer les
matériaux à utiliser.

3. Construction du Meuble / Support
ATTENTION : Risque de blessures ou d’endommagement du
produit. Le support en bois et le cadre de l’évier doivent
pouvoir supporter 300 lbs (136 Kg) (136 kg.) (Poids approximatif
de l’évier en fonte plein d’eau avec son broyeur de déchets
installé).
Construire une cadre d’appui qui s’ajuste dans l’evidement de 36″
(91,4 cm) du meuble-support. Laissez un espace nécessaire pour
le robinet et l’évier.
Pour une installation sans problème, le bandeau frontale doit être
découpé d’un2x4auxdimensions illustrés.

4. Installation finale d’ossature
Installation Des Carreaux
Cet évier est conçu pour être installé de niveau avec les carreaux
ou plus bas. Mesurez et comparez l’éspaisseur du rebord de
l’évier et des carreaux. L’épaiseur du rebord de l’évier est de plus
ou moins 1/32″(1 mm). Prenez ces mesures en considération
quand vous déterminerez l’emplacement des supports. A cause de
la différence d’épaisseur entre les carreaux et le lavabo, ou si vous
utilisez du mortier, prévoyez les dégagements nécessaires, afin
d’utiliser des cales ou faire d’autres réglages.
Installation Sous Comptoir et sur Surface Solide
Positionnez le cadre de support dans la découpe du meuble pour
que quand installé, le dessus de l’évier soit de niveaux avec le
dessus du meuble.
Pour toutes les Installations
REMARQUE : Assurez-vous que les dispositifs d’ancrage ne
dépassent pas à travers le meuble.
Fixez le cadre d’appui au meuble. Installez les dispositifs
d’ancrage de façon à permettre un enlèvement facile de l’évier.

5. Installez les Montures de Support pour un Carénage
Installez le Support : Installez le support sur la paroi arrière,
avec la base à 14-1/4″(36,2 cm) au-dessus du plancher, à l’aide
de quatre vis à bois No.8 x 1″et de bouchons (fournis).
Installez la patte de fixation : Pressez les attaches dans les larges
trous de la patte de fixation, tel que illustré. Installez la patte de
fixation à la base du composant avant du cadre à l’aide de deux
vis à bois No.8 x 1″(fournies). Le bord du support de fixation
doit être aligné avec le bord du support frontal.

6. Installation Des Carreaux
ATTENTION : Risque de blessures ou d’endommagement du
produit. Les éviers en fonte sont très lourds. Demandez de l’aide
pour soulever et mettre en place cet évier.
Vérifiez que l’évier contienne dans la découpe du meuble. Poncez
l’ouverture ou ajoutez des cales au besoin.
Assemblez le receveur de la crépine ou le broyeur de déchets à
l’évier conformément à la notice du fabricant.
Installez le robinet à l’évier selon la notice du fabricant qui
accompagne le produit.
Appliquez un boudin de mastic de 1″(2,5 cm) à chaque coin du
cadre qui touche l’évier.
REMARQUE : Si vous utilisez des cales, des joints seront
nécessaires.
Placer l’évier avec soin sur le cadre, de manière à aligner le centre
de l’évier sur le meuble.
Vérifiez que le lavabo soit de niveau. Ajustez ou placez des cales
entre l’évier et le support.
Appliquez du mastic entre l’évier et le meuble, le long des côtés
et à l’arrière de l’évier.
