CHARGER OPERATION:
1. The DKS-UNI charger will charge only approved rechargeable Ni-Cd, Ni-MH and Li-ion batteries. Be sure to charge
the battery before using the radio for the first time. Do not leave a battery or the radio in the charger for over a week,
as this may affect the battery performance.
2. Plug the power supply into the charger’s socket on rear.
3. Turn off radio.
4. Adjust the position of the battery spacer according to the battery being charged.
5. Insert the batteries with or without the radios by aligning the groove on each side of the battery with the corresponding
raised rail on each side of the charging holder.
6. Slide the battery into the charging holder, ensuring complete contact between the charger and battery contacts.
7. Do not transmit on a charging portable radio.

SAFETY CAUTIONS
1. To ensure proper and reliable operation, please place the charger on a flat and stable surface.
2. Charge only approved rechargeable Ni-Cd, Ni-MH and Li-ion batteries for Vertex radios. Other batteries may explode,
causing personal injury and damage.
3. Use of unauthorized accessories may result in risk of fire, electric shock, or injury.
4. Pull from the plug rather than from the cord when disconnecting the charger in order to prevent damaging the electric
plug and cord.
5. Do not use the charger if it has been broken or damaged, or it may cause fire, electric shock, or personal injury.
6. Do not connect any metal or electric conductive materials to the contacts in the charging holders; this may cause
electric shock, injury or other damage.
7. Do not disassemble the charger and/or replace any components inside. Disassembling the charger may result in risk
of electric shock or fire. Warranty is void if unauthorized personnel have disassembled charger.
8. To reduce risk of electric shock, unplug the charger from the socket before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES
1. This equipment is not suitable for outdoor use. Use only in dry locations/conditions.
2. Connect equipment only to an approved power supply of the correct voltage (as specified on the product).
3. When not in use, disconnect the power supply from the receptacle.
4. The receptacle to which this charger is connected should be close by and easily accessible.
5. When using the charger, maximum ambient temperature around the power supply equipment must not exceed 40°C
(104°F). Do not use the radio or attempt to charge the battery with temperature below 0°C (32°F) or above 40°C
(104°F). Battery capacity will decrease under extreme temperatures.
6. If the battery has not been used for long period of time, charging will be required to restore the original capacity.
7. Output power from the power supply must not exceed the ratings stated on the product label.
8. Make sure the cord is located where it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or subjected to water, damage, or
mechanical stress.
