Introduction
The magicolor®2450 is an ultra-compact color laser printer that delivers
the best graphical performance in its class. Fast and with superb print
quality, its power gives it wide-ranging compatibility.
As the magicolor 2450 demonstrates, size is no indication of strength.
Taking up little space on a desk, it prints at 20 ppm black-&-white and
five ppm color, with first page print-out in just 12 seconds. This power is
delivered by means of a next-generation Emperon®controller which
provides excellent compatibility and versatility for printing from any
major application and environment.
For superb color printing, this PostScript®- and PCL®-compatible laser
delivers 9600 x 600 dpi-class resolution. When combined with Simitri®
polymerized toner and eAIDC (enhanced Automatic Image Density
Control) results in photo-quality prints that have to be seen to be
believed.
Premium color for power users with easy operation for the novice, the
magicolor 2450 is ideal for the demanding, graphics-intense workloads of

Ease of Use
A hallmark of KONICA MINOLTA printing solutions is their ease of use,
and the magicolor 2450 is no exception. Simple set-up and operation
make the magicolor 2450 a breeze to use.
Pre-installed supplies: When the printer arrives, owners will find
the supplies have been pre-installed at the factory to save
valuable time during set up.
Front-access to supplies: When supplies do run low,
replacement is easy. Toner cartridges are accessible from the
front of the printer, and the inside of the front panel features toner
replacement guidelines.
Auto-install software: The Software Utilities CD-ROM features
an auto-install interface that guides users, step-by-step, through
the installation of drivers and printer management utilities. It even
automatically detects the printer on the network.
LCD display and keypad: The magicolor 2450 features an LCD
keypad display. It has a 2-line LCD window that displays the
current state of the printer, shows options when navigating the
menu system, displays toner supply levels, and offers information
when an offline printer condition occurs.
Printer management with desktop convenience: Don’t leave
your desk to check the status of your print job or to see if there’s
enough supplies to handle a large print run. Rely on PageScope
Web Connection to view this information. Simply use your web
browser and the printer’s IP address to access real-time printer
data.
Another desktop management tool included with the magicolor
2450 is the Status Monitor. It resides on your screen for easy
accessibility, and shows detailed information about the printer
including current status, current consumable levels, and
explanations of any errors that may have occurred. It provides

Brilliant, Consistent Color
The innovative color technology built into the magicolor 2450 produces
outstanding image quality. Through a combination of contone print
resolution, KONICA MINOLTA’s own polymerized toner formula, and
automatic color controls, the magicolor 2450 delivers excellent,
accurate, consistent color for business reports, sales materials,
correspondence, photographs, and more.
9600 x 600 dpi-class
To generate photo-quality output with great detail and character in fine
lines and halftones, the magicolor 2450 offers 600 dpi (High Quality)
resolution, also called 9600 x 600 dpi-class Photo ART contone quality.
Through a process called multi-bit or contone halftoning, the printer is
able to achieve very high levels of grayscale (color levels or shades). It
produces four bits or 16 levels of gray per pixel for sharper prints and
smoother gradients. In contrast, most printers produce one bit or two
levels per pixel.
Multi-bit or multilevel halftones technology produces less ‘noise’ in the
halftone, lower dot gain, and a higher screen frequency can be achieved.
Simitri Polymerized Toner
The magicolor 2450 features KONICA MINOLTA’s Simitri polymer toner
technology which uses tiny, uniform-sized particles that are
encapsulated in a proprietary compound to improve fusing on most
media—even coarse, recycled paper. As a result, prints are more
durable, with images and text that don’t smear or fade. It also yields
less waste, in the form of toner dust that remains on the surfaces of
drum cartridges, transfer belt units, and rollers after a page has printed.
This toner technology produces smoother halftones, finer lines, more
consistent colors, and crisper text—regardless of print quality selected
or media type used. Simitri Polymerized Toner is also more
environmentally friendly emitting less carbon acid gas (CO2), nitrogen
oxide (NOx) and sulfur oxide (Sox) during the production process.

First page out in 12 seconds: Why wait for your first page?
When the printer is in an idle, ready state, you can expect the
first page of a monochrome document to print in 12 seconds, or a
the first page of a color document in 21 seconds.

The magicolor 2450 is able to support mixed network environments and
is equipped with versatile software for managing printer operations in
these environments.
Windows and Macintosh: The magicolor 2450 has multi-
platform support for Windows and Mac users. This allows
simultaneous printing from diverse business workgroups.
PostScript 3 and PCL 6 languages: For seamless document
printing, the magicolor 2450 is multi-lingual. It has PostScript 3 and
PCL 6 emulations, and corresponding printer drivers, to efficiently
process jobs from popular business and design programs.

rate (DDR) SDRAM modules that effectively double data throughput and

The magicolor 2450 can be equipped with an internal IDE 40 GB hard
disk to support additional memory, security, and convenience functions
including:
Storage Store fonts, forms, overlays, macros, and profiles
PDF Print Direct print PDF files (via PageScope Web
Connection) without accessing the source application
Processing Enhance booklet printing, background printing, and
printer-based electronic collation
Job Accounting Store job accounting information used to determine
printer usage and resource allocation
Proof then Print The first copy of a job is printed then the job is held,
giving users the opportunity to review. Users
access PageScope Web Connection or the printer’s
front panel to release the remainder of the job.
Unprinted jobs are deleted on reboot or manually
Secured Job No copies of a job sent to the printer are actually
printed until the user releases them with a 4-digit PIN
via PageScope Web Connection or the front panel.

Job Timeout” occurs. Selecting a copy count of 0 will

600 dpi (Standard)
600 dpi (High Quality) (also called 9600 x 600 dpi-class)
For printing draft prints and disposable documents, select 600 x 600 dpi
resolution. To generate photo-quality output with great detail and character
in fine lines and halftones, use the printer’s default 600 dpi (High Quality)
contone resolution, also called 9600 x 600 dpi-class.
Note: To print at 600 dpi (High Quality) using the optional automatic
duplexer, a mimimum of 256 MB RAM is required.
Through a process called multi-bit or contone halftoning, the printer is able
to achieve very high levels of grayscale (color levels or shades). It
produces four bits or 16 levels of gray per pixel for sharper prints and
smoother gradients. In contrast, most printers produces one bit or two
levels per pixel.
The magicolor 2450’s print quality is further enhanced by the printer’s
Simitri polymer toner technology. See “Consumables,” later in this
guide, for more information.
