Whenusingelectrical appliances,basicprecautions
shouldalwaysbe followed toreducethe riskoffire,
electricshock,and injurytopersons, includingthe

1.Readall instructionsbeforeusingthisheater.
2.Thisapplianceishotwheninuse.Toavoid
burns, donotcomeincontact withheater. Keep
combustiblematerials,such as furniture,
pillows,bedding,papers,clothes,and curtains
at least 3feet(1m.) fromthe frontof theheater.
3.Extremecautionisnecessarywhen anyheater

electricshock, fireordamage tothe heater.
15.Topreventapossiblefire,donot blockairintakes
orexhaustinanymanner. Donotuseon soft
surfaces,suchasabed,whereopenings may
becomeblocked.
16.Thisheatergetshotandit containsinternalparts
that sparks andarcs.Donot useitinareaswhere
gasoline,paint, orflammableliquids areusedor
stored.
17.Use thisheateronlyas describedinthismanual.
Otherusesnotrecommendedbythe manufac-

WARNING:Theelectricmasonry insert
mustbeinstalled in masonry wall and
complywith theMINIMUMdimensions:
ForEIR1123:23”(58cm)wide,24.5”
(62cm)high and 13.5”(35cm)deep.
ForEIR2123:32.5”(83cm)wide, 26.4”
(67cm)high and 15.4”(39cm)deep.
NOTE: Topreventpersonalinjury alwaysusealicensed
electriciantoinstall newoutletsorcircuits.
NOTE: Topreventpersonal injury always useaprofes-
sionaltocapthechimneyflueorcutaholeinthe
existingfireplaceforwiring.
NOTE: Ifreturningyourfireplacetoitsoriginaluse(ex.
wood burning),itshouldbe inspected bythe localbuild-
ingdepartment priortoreducetheriskoffireandper-
sonalinjury.
1.Sealalldraftsandventswithnon-fibrousinsulation
materialstopreventchimneydebrisfromfalling onto
the fireplaceinsert. Do not install intoan existing
fireplacethatisprone todampness.
2.Cap thetopofthe chimneyflue and closedamper(if
applicable)topreventrainfromentering.
3.Planyourelectricpowersupply.A15amp,120volt
circuit isrequired.Adedicated circuitispreferred
but notessentialinall cases.Adedicated circuit
will be required ifafterinstallation,the circuitbreaker
orfusetrips.Additional appliancesmayexceedthe
current rating ofthecircuitbreakerorfuse.
4.Install and outletintothe existing fireplace.Ifan
outlet isnot installed intotheexisting fireplacethe
powercordcan alsorunalong the frontofthe hearth
toanoutlet nearthefireplace.
5. Ensuretheinsertpowerisoff. (Seeoperationpage
8).Plugthemasonryinsert intotheoutlet andslide
theunit intotheexistingfireplace.
6.Pushtheinsertintothefireplaceandcenterwithin
the opening.Adjustthe fourfeet on the bottomof
theinsert byturning counterclockwisetoraiseand
clockwisetolowersothatislevelwiththeexisting
fireplacehearth.
7. Installthe trimkitontothe masonry insert (TRIM
KIT INSTALLATIONPAGE4)and pushthetrimand
orinsert back untilthe trimisflatagainst the fin-
ished wall.
NOTE: The masonry insertcan be used withexisting
fireplacebifoldsandscreens.
Duetotheheatproducedfromthe heater, existing
fireplacebifoldsandscreensmustprovideadequate
airflowinfrontofthe unit.Do notuseexisting fireplace
doorsthat close,sealing off the masonry insert from
theroom

ELECTRICALCONNECTION
A15AMP,120 Volt,60Hzcircuitwithaproperlygrounded
outletisrequired. Preferably,the fireplacewillbe ona
dedicatedcircuit. Otherappliances onthesamecir-
cuit may causethecircuit breakertotriporthe fuseto
blowwhenthe heater isonoperation. The unit comes
standardwitha6’(1828mm)longthree wirecordexit-
ingfromtherearof thefireplace.Plan the installation
toavoidthe useofanextensioncord.Ifanextension
cordmustbe used,it mustbeaminimum14AWG
three wirewithgrounding typeplug connectorand rated
no less than1900 Watts.Thecordshallnotbemore
than20feet inlength.

REPLACINGLIGHTBULBS
Thisfireplaceusesfourclear120Volt,60 Watt,
E-12 socketbaselightbulbs(small base, chan-
deliercandletype).The 60 Watt bulbsarelocated
underthelog set/emberbed.Forconvenience,if
oneof thebulbsburnsout, itmaybeagood idea
toreplaceall of the light bulbs.
1.Turnoff power tothe unit byunpluggingthe power
cord.
2.Letfireplacecoolifithas beenoperating.
3.Removethetwoscrewson the top cornerofscreen.
Pull thescreenupwardslightly,and thenpull out.
4.Removethefourscrewsthatsecurethelog set/em-
berbedinposition.
5.Removelog set/emberbedand grateassembly.
6.Examinethebulb(s)todetermine whichbulbsneed
tobe replaced.
7.Whileholdingthe socket, unscrewdefectivebulb(s)
counterclockwise.
8.Installthenewlightbulb(s)byholdingthe socket
andscrewing clockwise.
9.Reinstall the log set/emberbed,grateassembly
and screen.Followtheaboveprocedureinreverse
order.

Themotorsusedon the fanandflamegenera-
torassemblyareprelubricatedforextended
bearinglifeand requireno furtherlubrication.
However, periodiccleaning/vacuumingof the
fan/heaterunitisrecommended.

proceeding.
GLASS INFORMATION
1.Undernocircumstancesshouldthisproductbe
operatedwithmissingorbrokenglass.
2.Donot strikeorslamthe glass.
3.Donotuseabrasivecleanerstocleantheglass.
4.Replacementglass isavailablefromthe manu-
facturerand replacementshouldbecarried out
byaqualifiedserviceperson.
ELECTRICAL WIRINGDIAGRAM
Anyelectricalrepairsorrewiring ofthisunitshouldbecarried outbyalicensedelectrician inaccordance
withnationalandlocalcodes.
Ifrepairing orreplacing anyelectricalcomponentorwiring,theoriginalwire
routing, colorcoding and securing location mustbefollowed.

Operating Instructions
Beforeprogramming yourtransmitteryou must
firstinsert three triple “AAA”batteries.
Makesurethe mainpoweron/off switchisin “ON”
position.
1.The Mode setting:
Pressthe “SET”button, then the “AUTO”light
willflash.Press the “SET”button again,and
thenthe “MANUAL”lightwillalsoflash.The
“AUTO”lightandthe “MANUAL”light willflash
alternatelyandcontinuously.Nextpress “EN-
TER”buttontoselecttheautomode ormanual
mode.
a.Whenselecting “AUTO”mode:
Select “AUTO”andpressthe “ENTER”button
toactivate,thenpressthe “SET”button,next
the ‘Temperature’, ‘Flame’, ‘Light’, ’lamp’sym-
bolswillflashalternately.Nextpressthe
button orthe buttontoselectthedesired
temperaturesetting.Whenthe temperature
setting has beenselected,press the “SET”
button tolock inthetemperaturesetting,next
set thefollowing functionsthatappearonthe
transmitter. Whenthelastfunction settinghas
been completed,press the “ENTER”button,
andthesymbolswill stopflashing.
b.Whenselecting “MANUAL”mode:
Select “MANUAL”and pressthe “ENTER”but-
tontoconfirm,thenpressthe “SET”button,
the ‘Flame’, ‘Light’, ‘lamp’, ‘Heatinglevel’sym-
bolswill flashalternately.Thenext symbolwill
flash automaticallysetthefunctionsas they
appear.Whenthe lastfunction setting has
been completed,press the “ENTER”button,
andthesymbolswill stopflashing.

2.The Clock setting :
Pressthe “CLOCK”button,the figureshownon clock will
flash.Press or tosetthehour.After thehourhas
beenset, press the “CLOCK”buttonagaintosetthe
minutes.Aftertheminutes hasbeen set, pressthe “CLOCK”
button,theclock willindicatetheset time.
3.The Timersetting:
Pressthe “TIMER”button,the word “TIMER”willappearon
thetransmitter, nextpress or toadjustthetime,to
add 30 minutes incrementspress the button again.After
the timerhasbeenset,press “TIMER”button again,the
word “TIMER”will flashand thetimerwill returntotime.
4. Key-PressLocksetting (childproof):
Tolock,pressthe “LOCK”button,therewill bea symbol,
whichmeans thatthetransmitterisinalock position. To
unlock,press once immediatelyfollowedbypressing
the “LOCK”button.
5.Heating Levelsetting
SelecttheMANUALmodelandpress SETtochose the
heatinglevelsetting,the “ “ symbolwill flash.Then
press or toselectfull, halforno heating.
