system,reviewthe following guidelinesto
choosethe location for the KPS25s. This
will facilitateaclean,trouble-freeinstallation.
TheKPS25sdoesnot requirea specialrack
orcabinetfor installation. Forthedimensions
of the KPS25sseeSpecificationsonpage
20.
1. Placethe KPS25sona firm level sur-
face, awayfromexcessiveheat, humi-
dity ormoisture.
2. TheKPS25s incorporates an advan-
ced suspensionsystemand doesnot
requireadditionalmasscouplingor iso-
lation. Youmayexperimentwith feet
or conesaslongastheyarenot perma-
nentlyaffixedto the chassis.Anyunau-
thorizedmodificationsto theelectronics
orchassiswill voidthewarranty.
IMPORTANT:Please do not attach
enhancementaccessoriessuchas rings,
mats,or dampersto individual CDs.These
accessoriesmaycauseproblemswith the
transport mechanism,resulting in erratic
playbackand/orpoorsound.

TheKPS25s has superb regulation and
doesnot require a dedicatedACcircuit.

groundedACstdps are acceptable. High
qualityACline conditionersorfilters canbe
used if they are groundedandmeetor
exceedthe unit’s powersupplyrating of 100

receptacle(E). Closetheflex-foil recep-
taclebysliding theflex-foil receptacle
sleevetowardthe transport. Therewill
beanaudible"click" whenthe flex-foil
cableis lockedin position.

to YourSystem
WARNING
Whenmakingconnectionsto this compo-
nent or any other, makesure the power
amplifieris Off. Makesureall cabletermi-
nationsareof thehighestquality, free from
frayedends,shorts,or coldsolderjoints.
1. Connectthe outputs of associated
sourceequipmentto the inputs of the
KPS25s.
2. Connecttheleft andright outputsof the
KPS25sto the appropriateassociated
equipment.
3. Whenconnecting the KPS25s to AC
power,first connectthe EICStandard
15 amp AC power cord between
the KPS-25sandthe wall socket. Then
switch the power on from the Rear
Panel PowerSwitch. Theword KRELL
will momentarilyappearin the Menu
Display Windowlocated on the dght
front panelof the KPS25s.This indi-
catesthat the KPS25shasinitialized
andis readyfor operation.Theunit is in
Stand-bymode.

controllers. TheKPS25sHandheldRemote
Controllerprovidesthe basicfunctionsof
Power,Play,.Pause,Stop,Track,andLevel.
TheKPS25sTabletopRemoteController,
namedthe Direct AccessController, pro-
videscompleteCDtransport functions as
well asKrelPpreamplifierandpowerampli-
fier remotecontrolfunctions.Adescription
of thebuttonsandtheir functionsfollows.
NOTE:The Tabletop RemoteController
also includes functions usedwith Krell
®

TheDirect NumberAccessKeypadmakes
track selectionquickandeasy.Whenusing
thedirect trackaccessfunction,theselected
track will beginplay immediatelyafter a
track is selected.If the track youwantto
playis numbered1-9, pressthe buttonthat
correspondsto the track. Usethe +10but-
ton to accesstracksnumbered10or higher.
The+10b~Jttonselects a track in incre-
mentsof 10.
EXAMPLE:To accessTrack 8, press the
number8 buttononce.ToaccessTrack10,
pressthe +10buttononceandthe 0 button
once. ToaccessTrack24, press the +10

timeto cancelthis function.Whenselecting
the desired Repeatfunction, press the
Repeat button once and REPEATwill
appear in the CompactDisc Transport
Display Window.Pressthe Repeatbutton
twice andREPEATandSINGLEwill appear
in the CompactDisc Transport Display
Window.

Createsa loopbetweentwopre-determined
points within a single track or sequential
tracks. TocreateanA/Bloop, start theplay
of a track. Whenyouhearthe part that you
wantasthebeginningof the loop, pressA/B
to insert thestart position. PressNBagain
to insert thefinish position.A/Bwill auto-
matically beginandcontinueindefinitely.
PressStopor A/Bagainto delete the A/B
program.
Access
Whenanexactstart positionsis critical, use
the Accessbutton to numericallyselect a
positionwithin a specifictrackprogram:
Track Programming
Trackprogramminggivesyouthe ability to
select the tracks youwantto hear, in the
orderin whichyouwantto hearthem.This
methodof programmingis short term and
will be cleared whenyoupress the Stop
button twice. A maximumof twentytracks
maybestored in a programsequence.
NOTE:TrackForward,TrackBack,Repeat,
andPausefunction normallywithin a pro-
grammedsequence.

1. Press Programon the KPS25s remote
control. PROGRAMwill appearin the
Compact Disc Transport Display
Window.
2. Keyin the desiredtrack sequenceusing
the numerickeypad.Tracksconsisting
of two digits mustbe keyedwithin
eight secondsof eachother. Thenum-
ber of tracksandtotal playingtimeof
the programmedsequencewill appear
in the CompactDiscTransportDisplay
Window.Tracknumberswill appearin
the CompactDisc Transport Display
Windowin the order in whichthey are
stored within a programmedsequence.
3. PressPlayto beginplaybackof a pro-
grammedsequence.
4. Pressthe Stopbutton twiceto erasea
programmedsequence.

the CDonto the transport. Clampthe CD
down,andclosethe Acrylic Cover.Playback
will beginfromthefirst track. If theCDis
loaded andthe disc contents havebeen
scanned,pressPlayonthe front panelor
remotecontrol. Thedisc will start playing
from Track1 or the beginningof a pro-
grammed track sequence. Whenan
HDCI~encodedCDis played, the HDCD

led illuminates, indicating that HDCD

decodingis functioning.

Toadjust the brightness of the Menu
Display Window:
1. Press the Menubutton. The word
MENUwill appearin the MenuDisplay
Window.
2. Turnthe Level Control Knobuntil the
wordBRIGHTappears.
3. Pressthe Menubutton again. Thecur-
rent brightnesslevel will appearin the
MenuDisplay Window.
4. TurntheLevelControlKnobto theleft or
right to viewbrightnesslevels. Thedis-
play maybeset to mutethe brightness
completely.Whenthe brightnesslevel is
set to the desiredlevel, pressthe Menu
buttononemoretimeto lock the setting
in place.
5. To exit the Menumodecompletely,
pressthe Menubutton again.
To assign customnamesto any of the
digital or the analoginputsof the KPS
25s:
1. Press the Menubutton. The word
MENUwill appear.
2. Turnthe LevelControl Knobuntil the
word NAMEappears.
3. Pressthe Menubutton again. Theword
AESEBUwill appear.
5. Press the MenubUtton. The word
PHONOwill appear.
6. Turnthe LevelControl Knobto select
the desiredname.
7. Press the Menubutton to lock the
selectednameto the selectedinput.
8. To exit the Menumodecompletely,
pressthe menubuttonagain.
NOTE:Theinput for CDcannotberenamed.

Throughput~:
1. Press the Menubutton. The word
MENUwill appear.
2. Turnthe Level Control Knobuntil the
word THEATERappears.
3. Pressthe Menubutton again. Theword

the input for TheaterThroughput
TM.
5. Pressthe Menubutton againto display
the current theater modesetting.
Whenthe display reads YES,Theater

6. Turnthe LevelControl Knobto select
the desiredtheatermodesetting.
7. Pressthe Menubuttonto lock the set-

limited andtransferablewarrantyof five
yearsfor partsandlaborandthreeyearson
transportrelatedparts. Thewarrantyperiod
beginsonthe dateof retail purchase,as
notedontheretail salesslip providedbyan
authorizedKrell®
dealeror distributor, oron
thewarrantyregistrationcardsentto KrelP.
In the event adequateproof of purchase
dateis unavailable,thewarrantyperiodwill
beginonthe datethe unit wasoriginally
shippedfromthe factory. Theoriginal ship
datecanbedeterminedby KrelPfromthe
serial number.
Thewarrantyfor KrelPproductsis valid only
in the countryto whichtheywereoriginally
shipped,throughthe authorizedKrelPdis-
tributor for thatcountry,andat thefactory.
Theremayberestrictions on, or changesto
Krell’s warrantybecauseof regulations
within a specific country.Pleasecheckwith
yourdistributor for a completeunderstand-
ingof thewarrantyin yourcountry.
Freightto thefactoryis yourresponsibility.
Seconddayreturnfreight within the United
States(U.S.A.)is includedin thewarranty.

sibility. KrelPwill payreturnfreight to the

minedby the factory andcan only be

the original purchasedate. Anyunautho-
