Quick Start Guide

Overview
This switch is a high-performance Layer 2 managed switch with 52Gbps switching capacity.
It provides twenty 10/100/1000 copper ports, four 100/1000Base-X SFP/RJ-45 Combo Ports, and two
100/1000Base-X dual speed SFP slots.
Package Contents
After unpacking the switch, check the contents to be sure you have received all the components: one
SM24T6DPA Switch, four adhesive rubber feet, Mounting Accessory (for 19” Rack Shelf), a Post card, a
printed Quick Start Guide, an AC Power Cord, and an RS-232 to RJ-45 Console Cable. Notify your sales
representative if any of these items are missing or damaged.
Front Panel
The switch contains twenty-four 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 ports. All RJ-45 ports support automatic
MDI/MDI-X operation, auto-negotiation and IEEE 802.3x auto-negotiation of flow control, so the optimum
data rate and transmission can be selected automatically.
SFP Transceiver Slots
SM24T6DPA Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) transceiver slots are shared with RJ-45 ports 21 to 24; SFP
ports 25 and 26 are not shared. In the default configuration, if an SFP transceiver (purchased separately) is
installed in a slot and has a valid link on the port, the associated RJ-45 port is disabled. See the SFP manual
for related information on your SFP(s).
Port and System Status LEDS and System Status LED
The SM24T6DPA switch includes a display panel for system and port indications that simplify installation
and network troubleshooting. The LEDs are on the left side of the front panel.
Connecting to the Console Port
The front panel RJ-45 serial port is used to connect to the switch for out-of-band console configuration.

Inserting the Power Cord to AC Power Socket: 1. Insert the power cable plug directly into the AC Socket
located at the back of the switch. 2. Plug the other end of the cable into a grounded, 3-Pin, AC power
source. 3. Check the front-panel LEDs as the device is powered on to be sure the POWER LED is lit. If not,
check that the power cable is correctly plugged in. Warning: For International use, you may need to change
the AC line cord. You must use a line cord set that has been approved for the socket type in your country.

Reset Button
The front panel Reset button can be used to reset the switch. Use a paper clip or similar tool to press the
recessed Reset button. See the Install Guide for more information.
Web-based Management
The switch default values are IP Address = 192.168.1.77, Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway =
192.168.1.254, Username = admin, and Password = admin.
After the managed switch has been configured in the CLI via the switch’s serial interface,
you can browse it. For instance, type 192.168.1.77 in the address row in a browser; the
Login screen displays (see below) prompting you for a username and password for login
and access authentication. The default username and password are both admin. For first
time use, enter the default username and password, then click the Login button.
When the login process is complete, the SM24T6DPA web GUI displays. When you login to the SM24T6DPA
via the Web UI, you can use IPv4 or IPv6 login to manage the switch. The SM24T6DPA has the DHCP function
disabled by default, so If you do not have a DHCP server to provide IP addresses to the switch, the switch
default IP address is 192.168.1.77.
CLI Management
The command-line-driven configuration program can be accessed from a terminal or a PC running a
terminal emulation program. Configure the serial port as Default Baud rate= 115,200 bps, Character Size = 8
Characters, Parity = None, Stop bit = One, Data bits = 8, Flow control = none. See the SM24T6DPA CLI
