Not your ordinary closer, SmoothGlideTM (Patents Pending) provides a smooth and uniform closing motion from start to finish.
Your door is equipped with two closers:
x A SmoothGlideTM closer installed at the top of the door
x A SmoothGlideTM closer with Touch’n Hold at the bottom of the door
1) Preparation
Locate the closer screw pack, which contains:
x 8 - #10 x 1-1/2” screws
x 4 - #10 x 5/8” screws
x 2 - short pins
Tools required:
x Power drill with an 1/8” drill bit
x No.2 Phillips screwdriver
2) Install the jamb brackets:
a) TOP CLOSER; Locate jamb bracket about 1“ down from the top of the
door with the positioning tab against the back leg of the hinge rail. Drill 1/8”
pilot holes and fasten bracket to jamb with four #10 x 1-1/2” screws, per
Fig.2.
b) BOTTOM CLOSER; Locate jamb bracket about 1“ above the door expander with
the positioning tab up against the back leg of the hinge rail. Note: Bottom closer
may need to be located over the door expander in some cases. Drill 1/8” pilot holes
and fasten bracket to jamb with four #10 x 1-1/2” screws, per Fig.3.
After fastening the jamb brackets, break off the positioning tabs.
3) Install the door brackets
a) TOP CLOSER; Close and latch the door. Assemble
the closer (the closer without the Touch’n Hold button; it
has the door bracket already attached to it) to the top
jamb bracket using the short pin and long yellow
plastic spacer clip, per Fig.4. (NOTE: Long yellow
plastic spacer clip must be used to ensure proper
operation and function). Hold the assembly level and
mark the front mounting hole location of the door
bracket. Drill 1/8” starter hole. Caution: Do not drill
through the outside of the door. Attach the door
bracket using a #10 x 5/8” screw. Remove the long pin,
short pin, closer and yellow plastic clip. Discard the
yellow clip. Drill 1/8” starter hole through exposed hole
in door bracket and fasten using #10 x 5/8” screw. Reattach the closer using the long pin, with o-ring to hold in place, and short pin.
