Safety inspection checklist
Use the infor ation in this section to identify potentially unsafe conditions with your server. As each achine
was designed and built, required safety ite s were installed to protect users and service technicians fro
injury.
Note: This device is not intended for use in the direct field of view at visual display workplaces. To avoid
inco oding reflections at visual display workplaces, this device ust not be placed in the direct field of
view.
CAUTION:
This equipment must be installed or serviced by trained personnel, as defined by the NEC, IEC 62368-
1 & IEC 60950-1, the standard for Safety of Electronic Equipment within the Field of Audio/Video,
Information Technology and Communication Technology. enovo assumes you are qualified in the
servicing of equipment and trained in recognizing hazards energy levels in products. Access to the
equipment is by the use of a tool, lock and key, or other means of security, and is controlled by the
authority responsible for the location.
Important: Electrical grounding of the server is required for operator safety and correct syste function.
Proper grounding of the electrical outlet can be verified by a certified electrician.
Use the following checklist to verify that there are no potentially unsafe conditions:
1. Make sure that the power is off and the power cord is disconnected.
2. Check the power cord.
• Make sure that the third-wire ground connector is in good condition. Use a eter to easure third-
wire ground continuity for 0.1 oh or less between the external ground pin and the fra e ground.
• Make sure that the power cord is the correct type.
To view the power cords that are available for the server:
a. Go to:

b. Click Preconfigured Model or Configure to order.

c. Enter the achine type and odel for your server to display the configurator page.
d. Click Power ➙ Power Cables to see all line cords.
• Make sure that the insulation is not frayed or worn.
3. Check for any obvious non-Lenovo alterations. Use good judg ent as to the safety of any non-Lenovo
alterations.
4. Check inside the server for any obvious unsafe conditions, such as etal filings, conta ination, water or
other liquid, or signs of fire or s oke da age.
5. Check for worn, frayed, or pinched cables.
6. Make sure that the power-supply cover fasteners (screws or rivets) have not been re oved or ta pered
with.

Chapter 1. Introduction
The ThinkEdge SE350 V2 server (Type 7DA9) is a new edge server offering. It is specifically designed to eet
the needs of edge co puting, edge AI, hybrid cloud and workloads at the edge locations. ThinkEdge SE350
V2 is a rugged co pact sized edge solution with a focus on s art connectivity, business security and
anageability for the harsh environ ent. Built for long life and dependable perfor ance to support your
de anding IoT workloads at the Edge. Co pact and rugged it is designed for the non-datacenter
environ ent, ideal for re ote locations such as retail, anufacturing, and factory locations.
The ThinkEdge SE350 V2 1U2N/2U2N Enclosure (Type 7DBK) is designed to ount the SE350 V2 node(s) in
a rack. A single enclosure can contain up to two ThinkEdge SE350 V2 nodes.

Features
Perfor ance, ease of use, reliability, and expansion capabilities were key considerations in the design of
ThinkEdge SE350 V2. These design features ake it possible for you to custo ize the syste hardware to
eet your needs today and provide flexible expansion capabilities for the future.
ThinkEdge SE350 V2 i ple ents the following features and technologies:
• Features on Demand
If a Features on De and feature is integrated in the server or in an optional device that is installed in the

• enovo XClarity Controller (XCC)
The Lenovo XClarity Controller is the co on anage ent controller for Lenovo ThinkEdge server
hardware. The Lenovo XClarity Controller consolidates ultiple anage ent functions in a single chip on

the server syste board. So e of the features that are unique to the Lenovo XClarity Controller are
enhanced perfor ance, higher-resolution re ote video, and expanded security options.
ThinkEdge SE350 V2 supports Lenovo XClarity Controller 2 (XCC2). For additional infor ation about

• UEFI-compliant server firmware
Lenovo ThinkEdge fir ware is Unified Extensible Fir ware Interface (UEFI) co pliant. UEFI replaces
BIOS and defines a standard interface between the operating syste , platfor fir ware, and external
devices.
Lenovo ThinkEdge servers are capable of booting UEFI-co pliant operating syste s, BIOS-based
operating syste s, and BIOS-based adapters as well as UEFI-co pliant adapters.
Note: The server does not support Disk Operating Syste (DOS).
• arge system-memory capacity
The server supports synchronous dyna ic rando -access e ory (SDRAM) registered dual inline
e ory odules (DIMMs) with error correcting code (ECC). For ore infor ation about the specific types
and axi u a ount of e ory, see “Technical specifications” on page 4.
• Integrated network support
ThinkEdge SE350 V2 provides network through either of the two following options of I/O odule boards.
1. 10/25GbE I/O module board: with four 10/25GbE SFP28 connectors and two 2.5GbE RJ-45
connectors
2. 1GbE I/O module board: with four 1GbE RJ-45 connectors and two 2.5GbE RJ-45 connectors
• arge data-storage capacity and hot-swap capability
ThinkEdge SE350 V2 supports up to two 15 NVMe hot-swap drives or four 7 SATA or NVMe hot-
swap drives. With the hot-swap feature, the solid state drives can be added, re oved, or replaced without
turning off the server.
• Mobile access to enovo Service Information website
ThinkEdge SE350 V2 provides a QR code on the syste service label, which is on the cover of the server
and can be scanned using a QR code reader and scanner with a obile device to get quick access to the
Lenovo Service Infor ation website. The Lenovo Service Infor ation website provides additional
infor ation for parts installation, replace ent videos, and error codes for server support.
• Active Energy Manager
Lenovo XClarity Energy Manager is a power and te perature anage ent solution for data centers.
Through Lenovo XClarity Energy Manager, the power consu ption and te perature of Converged,
NeXtScale, Syste x, and ThinkServer servers can be onitored and anaged, and energy efficiency can
be i proved.
• Redundant networking connection
The Lenovo XClarity Controller provides failover capability to a redundant Ethernet connection with the
applicable application installed. If a proble occurs with the pri ary Ethernet connection, all Ethernet
traffic that is associated with the pri ary connection is auto atically switched to the optional redundant
Ethernet connection. If the applicable device drivers are installed, this switching occurs without data loss
and without user intervention.
• Redundant cooling and optional power capabilities
ThinkEdge SE350 V2 supports a axi u of two 300-watt hot-swap power adapters or direct DC power
source and three internal fans, which provide redundancy for a typical configuration. The redundant
cooling by the fans in the server enables continued operation if one of the fans fails.

• ThinkSystem RAID support
ThinkEdge SE350 V2 provides software redundant array of independent disks (RAID) to create
configurations. The software RAID controller supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, and 10.
• Integrated Trusted Platform Module (TPM)
This integrated security chip perfor s cryptographic functions and stores private and public secure keys.
It provides the hardware support for the Trusted Co puting Group (TCG) specification.
• ow-touch deployment
Low-touch deploy ent software allows re ote deploy ent, particularly when the server is transported by
non-certified carriers to re ote environ ents with no certified personnels to set it up in person.
Tech Tips
Lenovo continually updates the support website with the latest tips and techniques that can be used to solve
issues that the server ight encounter. These Tech Tips (also called retain tips or service bulletins) provide
procedures to work around issues or solve proble s related to the operation of your server.

2. Click on How To’s fro the navigation pane.

• Keep the a bient te perature to 40°C or lower to avoid perfor ance degradation. If the a bient te perature is
over 40°C, perfor ance degradation or throttled event ight occur.
• Keep the a bient te perature to 30°C or lower to avoid perfor ance degradation when choosing the rack ount
with the SE350 V2 1U2N Enclosure. It is advised that the a bient te perature should be kept under 27°C when AC
adapters are installed.

operating te perature is outside AHSARE A3 specification or fan failed condition outside A2 specification. ThinkEdge
SE350 V2 is supported in the following environ ent:
