This application or device contains software from Gracenote, Inc. of Emeryville, California
(“Gracenote”). The software from Gracenote (the “Gracenote Software”) enables this application
to perform disc and/or file identification and obtain music-related information, including
name, artist, track, and title information (“Gracenote Data”) from online servers or embedded
databases (collectively, “Gracenote Servers”) and to perform other functions. You may use
Gracenote Data only by means of the intended End-User functions of this application or device.
You agree that you will use Gracenote Data, the Gracenote Software, and Gracenote Servers for
your own personal non-commercial use only. You agree not to assign, copy, transfer or transmit

The Gracenote service uses a unique identifier to track queries for statistical purposes.
The purpose of a randomly assigned numeric identifier is to allow the Gracenote service to
count queries without knowing anything about who you are. For more information, see the web

The Gracenote Software and each item of Gracenote Data are licensed to you “AS IS.”
Gracenote makes no representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy

1 Remove the battery cover
Press and hold down the battery release
button at the top of the phone and pull off
the battery cover.
WARNING: Do not use your fingernail
when removing the battery
WARNING: Do not remove the battery
when the phone is switched on, as this may
damage the phone.
2 Remove the battery
Lever the top edge of the battery and
remove it carefully from the battery
compartment.
5 Replace the battery cover
Insert the bottom of the battery cover into
the edge of the battery compartment and
push it until it the cover clicks into place.

3 Install the SIM card
Slide the SIM card into the SIM card holder.
Make sure that the gold contact area on
the card is facing downwards.
To remove the SIM card, pull it gently in
the reverse direction.
4 Install the battery
Insert the bottom of the battery first
into the bottom edge of the battery
compartment. Ensure the battery contacts
align with the terminals on the phone.
Press down the top of the battery until it
clips into place.
6 Charging your phone
Slide back the cover of the charger socket
on the side of your KM500. Insert the
charger and plug into a mains electricity
socket. Your KM500 will need to be
charged until a message reading Fully
Charged appears on screen.

Memory card
Installing a memory card
You can expand the memory space available
on your phone using a memory card. The
KM500 will support a memory card of up
to 2 GB.
1Remove the battery cover and battery as
shown on pages 12-13.
2Slide the memory card into the slot at
the top, until it clicks into place. Make
sure that the gold contact area is facing
upwards.
3Replace the battery cover as shown.
Transferring your contacts
To transfer your contacts from your SIM to
your phone:
1From the standby screen press the or
, and choose .
2Select Copy all.
3Choose SIM to Phone then Keep
original or Delete original.
4Select OK to confirm.

The status bar
The status bar uses various icons to indicate
things like signal strength, new messages
and battery life, as well as telling you whether
your Bluetooth is active.
Below is a table explaining the meaning of
icons you are likely to see in the status bar.

Making a call or video call
1Key in the number using the keypad.
To delete a digit press C.
2Press the key to initiate the call.
3To end the call, press the key.
TIP! Enter + when making an
international call, press and hold 0.
Making a call from your contacts
1Press the key to open the address
book.
2Using the keypad to enter the first letter of
the contact you want to call. For example
for Office, press 6three times.
3To scroll through the contacts and their
different numbers use and .
4Press the key to initiate the call.
Answering and rejecting a call
When your phone rings press the key
to answer the call.
While your phone is ringing, open your
handset or press the camera key, then select
Silent to mute the ringing. This is great if
you’ve forgotten to change your profile to
Silent for a meeting.
Press the key to reject the incoming call.
TIP! You can change the settings on
your phone to answer your calls in different
ways. Press the or and , select and
choose Call.
Select Answer mode and choose from Slide
open, Any key or Send key only.
