Hydmaster 40
LIFA HYDMASTER 40
Lifa Hydmaster 40 is a multifunctional cleaning machine for entilation ducts. Hydmaster
40 is especially designed for tasks that require exceptionally strong force. It is designed
for demanding tasks and for rectangular and circular ducts. The special feature is its
strong motor torque, which is done hydraulically. Hydmaster 40 is designed and
manufactured according to international quality and en ironmental management system
ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004
Hydmaster 40 is operated with normal electricity (single-phase current) and is notably
more silent than pneumatically operated machines. The hydraulic motor pro ides an
alternati e to pneumatically operated machines that need compressors in order to work.
The machine unit use hydraulic oil in power transmission. Inside the shaft there is: carbon
fibre reinforced hoses are inside a polypropylene co er; flexible glass fibre rod keeps the
shaft in the duct so it is easy to direct in it.
Hydmaster 40 is designed for ducts that ha e a diameter from D 315 mm to D 1200 mm
(12.4 – 47.25 inches) The rotating speed of the brush has a stepless speed ariation from
340 to 650 rpm.
The length of the shaft is 40 m which enables the cleaning of 75 meters (246 feet) of duct
when accessed in one ser ice hatch (access door) to both directions.
The most ad anced model of Hydmaster 40 has a camera and a screen so it is possible to
follow the result/progress of the cleaning work in the screen. The screen also shows
possible obstacles for example sound silencers etc.
Since the Hydmaster 40 has exceptionally strong motor torque it is possible to use
o ersized brushes especially in ducts getting smaller in diameter.
Lifa Y-Gear (accessory) brings efficiency to cleaning in cur es and corners of rectangular
ducts of 250 mm - 1200 mm (9.8 - 47.25 inches).
For exceptionally wide rectangular ducts Lifa 3 Brush- gear, 100 mm - 300 mm (9.84 –

The equipment must not be positioned or use in places where there is a risk
of explosion or hazardous substances.
The equipment must not et wet and it has to be protected from moisture,
vibration and wind.
Forei n objects must not be inserted or fitted into the equipment.
The machine cannot be covered durin the operation
The user must ensure that the appliance is adjusted for the task and that the
statutory requirements are met.
1. Avoid contamination of the environment
The machine should be kept as clean as possible. When the shaft is pushing the shaft
back to the drum it should be cleaned with a cloth. After the work has been completed
the brushes and the shell of the cleaning shaft must be cleaned, before transporting
the machine into another location
2. General Safety
It is forbidden to stay in immediate contact with the machine while it is operating.
3. The safety of the operator
The person/persons who are performing the work should use personal protection:
filtered mouth mask, helmet, earmuffs, goggles, o erall, protection shoes and other
necessary protecti e equipment that the task at hand requires.
Hydmaster 40 has a strong rotating force. Clothes or hairs can easily get caught in the
brush and cause damage or accidents. The brush has to be placed always in the
entilation duct before starting the machine. The machine cannot be used when the
brush is outside the entilation duct. Due to the great rotating force Hydmaster 40 is
recommended to be used by two persons. One who directs the shaft into the duct, and
another who feeds/draws the shaft and controls the rotation of the brush.
4. The safety of the workin environment
Make sure that the lightning, air conditioning, latter and trestles are sufficient. If the
brush generates static electricity or sparks in the duct do not use these types of
brushes in the duct if there are any flammable liquids, gases, dust or other sensiti e
substances. Use antistatic brushes and safety ground by following the special
instructions in difficult conditions.

Hydmaster 40
THE USE OF THE MACHINE
Before beginning the work check the channel network with Lifa DuctTruck
(accessory). There may be air olume controllers, noise silencers, fire dampers etc.
that can be damaged during the work.
In large rectangular ducts, there might be supporter poles inside the duct. Use extra
care, when dealing with ducts equipped with supporters. When cleaning large
rectangular or round ducts the use of Lifa Centring de ice (Accessory) is highly
recommended.
Choose a right sized brush (depending in the size of the duct). Make sure that the
brush isn’t too small or big for the duct that is going to be cleaned. Nylon grease
/Tynex brushes are meant for cleaning the grease ducts. The combination brushes
are meant to use only in grease duct cleaning
Adjust the rotating speed of the brush. Note that when cleaning “soft” ducts the
rotating speed should be much lower than in normal ducts. Too fast rotation speed
may damage the entilation duct channel. Only softest brushes may be used.
Make sure that the working area is cleared and there are no extra personnel.
Ensure that all the employees performing the work ha e adequate protecti e
equipment.
Make sure that there is enough low pressure in the channel network and that Lifa
HepaClean or AirClean is installed correctly.
Connect the machine in to an electrical network with grounding.
Place the brush inside the entilation duct that is going to be cleaned.
Connect the machine into a current from the protecti e switch for motor.
When the shaft is being pushed to the duct a oid sharp angles and screws etc.
which can damage the shaft, especially sharp edges of duct opening.
When the operator who is feeding the shaft in to the duct gi es a permission to start
the machine, the machine can be started.
The brush can be rotated to clockwise and counter clockwise. Use both rotating
directions in order to make sure the best possible cleaning result. In rectangular
ducts it may be required to clean one side first (with rotating the brush in one
direction only) and after that another side.
Feed the shaft steadily (slowly) in to the duct without excessi e force. The use of
excessi e force may harm the duct, machine or brush and influence to the cleaning
result.

MAINTENANCE
When the machine is in daily professional use it should be delivered to its first
re ular maintenance to the manufacturer or to repair shop that has been authorized
by the manufacturer after six months from the first commissionin date
(approximately 100 hours). The warranty expires if the machine has not been
delivered to its first maintenance on time.
After this, it is recommended to take the machine in to maintenance e ery year
(approximately 200 operation hours). If there are any mechanical or electrical failures in
the machine it should be brought to maintenance immediately.
The following maintenance and upkeep work has to be done in regular basis depending
on the purpose of which the machine has been used. This enables a trouble-free use.
General Cleanliness:
Keep the machine as free from dirt and dust as possible. Dirt and grease may cause a
failure in the electrical equipments. The use of running water is forbidden.
Cleanin of the frequency converter:
Unplug the machine from the electrical network. The frequency con erter maintains its
oltage for a long time after it has been unplugged from the electrical network. When the
oltage has permanently dropped the protecti e casing can be remo ed safely. Slightly
blow compressed air into the frequency con erter between the slots that enables the
accumulated dust to come out. If there is dirt accumulated on the surface of the frequency
changer it can be wiped off with a damp cloth. When the protecti e casing is open it is
recommended to check the tightness of the binding screws. After that the protecti e
casing can be closed.
Electrical connections:
ONLY an authorized electrician can do the electrical connections and other electrical
installations. Howe er it is good to make sure isually that the connections are tight and
the wirings are in order.
Hoses and bonds
Make sure that all the hydraulic hoses are intact and the bonds are tight.
Cleanin shaft
The cleaning shaft has to be cleaned e ery time after use. The dirt and grease that has
collected to the plastic surface can be remo ed with a mild grease remo al detergent that
is meant for plastic surfaces. Between the turnbuckle and the outer bearing in the brush
adapter has to put some lubricant regularly. (Synthetic Vaseline, lubricating oil etc).
13
Before any maintenace work the machine has to be plu ed off from the mains!!

Hydmaster 40
Oil chan e
The first oil change is done in the first regular maintenance (after 1000 operating hours).
After that the oil change has to be done e ery year. Only Shell TELLUS T 32-hydraulic oil
can be used in the Hydmaster 40 (Technical information). Make sure that there is always
the required amount of oil in the machine unit. The minimum is in the le el 50% of the oil
le el meter seen, the maximum in the oil le el meter of 80%.
SPARE PARTS
When ordering spare parts, always mention the model serial number and type of the
machine. The information is in the CE-plate that is situated beside the motor.
PROBLEM SITUATIONS
Possible problem situations and solutions are presented below. If you are not sure on how
to handle problem situations do not hesitate to contact us. Our experts are pleased to
ad ice and help you in a way we can get the desired outcome together.
1) Protecti e switch for motor does not stay on/does not go on (turn to consruction
and control)
a) Make sure that the supply mains are attached to an electrical network with
protecti e grounding (230V/50Hz) and that the supply mains are in order.
b) Make sure that there is oltage in the electrical network and that a fuse has not
burnt.
2) When loaded the machine does not stay on
a. When the machine is being used continuously for long periods especially with
largre brushes the motor and the transmission may o erheat. If that happens the
automatics cuts off the operaton. The machine is ready automatically when it is
cooled.
b. Make sure that there isn’t other machines that ha e a big powert consumption
connected to the same electric circuit. The machine should ha e its own electric
circuit so the machine can get the power it needs.
4) The cleaning brush does not rotate on steady rotating speed
a. Make sure the le el of the oil is sufficient. The minimum is in the
+30 ºC the maximum in the place of +80 ºC.
b. Make sure that the machine is placed firmly. If the machine has
been used transported or stored in une en place there may be some air in the
hydraulic hoses. Because of this the brush motor may run une enly for a while.
Once the air has come out of the hose the motor will start to run normally.
