Cleaning of the Secondary air system
with 929 Secondary air system cleaner & 14800V1 Tool Secondary-Air Cleaning
Introduction

TUNAP Tool Secondary-Air Cleaning allo s you to combine cutting edge technology ith high customer satisfaction and sustainable
cost reductions. To ensure full functionality of the system, please carefully read and observe the information compiled in this Service
Information/Manufacturer Instructions.
Special safety instructions
Please read carefully this service information / manufacturer instructions completely before you use for the first time the TUNAP Tool
Secondary-Air Cleaning.
The TUNAP Tool Secondary-Air Cleaning should be used exclusively from professionals in the automotive area and it is approved only
for the follo ing process:
Cleaning of the secondary air system in Gasoline vehicles.
All safety precautions must be observed in order to avoid damage to the equipment, the secondary air system that is being cleaned, and
avoid injuries.
Safety instruction regarding the chemistry
Observe the current safety data sheet.
Use of protective glasses, gloves, and appropriate protective clothing is mandatory hen using the
cleaning system.
Synthetic materials and paint must be protected from contact ith the cleaning fluid.
The TUNAP Tool Secondary-Air Cleaning is approved to use ith the 929 Secondary air system cleaner and the 930 Neutralisation
solution secondary air. Use of non-approved cleaning chemicals can cause operational or safety problems.
Safety indication regarding the tool
Maintenance and service may be performed only by the manufacturer of the cleaning system.
In order to assure safety, use only original TUNAP spare parts and accessories.
If the connection hoses or connections get damaged, replace them immediately.

Important indication
Use 929 Secondary air system cleaner and 930 Neutralisation solution secondary air only for cleaning of secondary air systems in
petrol engines.
For the cleaning you have to connect the 16 14800V1 Secondary air cleaning system to the secondary air system of the vehicle.
Please pay attention to the indication of the manufacturer hen orking on the secondary air system.
Use adequate protection, like gloves, glasses, shoes, etc…
Before you begin ith the cleaning process please perform an diagnosis and store the data for comparison after the cleaning pro-
cedure.
Attention! Should the conducts of the secondary air system be completely clogged (diagnosis), please don’t apply this system as it
on’t ork ( e need a flo rate to perform the cleaning)
Please disengage the lambda regulation ith the scanner, hen you are performing the cleaning procedure. This is necessary to
protect the O
2
sensor from damage.
Attention! Take care that no hose, conduct or parts of the tool get in the ay of moving parts of the engine as it could generate
serious damage.
After the cleaning, perform a test drive and read/erase the failure codes.
After cleaning and for further prevention, add microflex® 974 injector direct protection petrol to the tank regularly. Use the filler neck
included.

Example
1. Before connecting the Tool Secondary-Air Cleaning, make sure all the stopcocks and the pressure regulator are closed. Release
the quick coupling for pressurized air (blue hose) pic. 1. Release the opener (or pressurizer) for cans completely. Insert the can 929
Secondary air cleaner into the housing and make sure the head goes over the seal/O-ring pic. 2.
2. No scre carefully the opener (or pressurizer) for cans into the can. Make sure that the spike of the safety opening gassing is
exactly in the center of the can bottom pic. 3. By scre ing in further, a hole is cut in the bottom of the can and the compressed air
from the transport lock escapes from the can pic. 4.
Turn the fumigation safety opener into the can ith the cleaner until you feel a slight resistance (hand-tight). If you scre it in further,
the can ill be damaged and unusable!
Caution! Do not use the cans more than once. There is a possibility that compressed air ill escape bet een the can opener and
the bottom of the can.
Reconnect the quick coupling for pressurized air (black hose) pic. 5.
3. Hang the Tool Secondary-Air Cleaning at a good spot inside the engine compartment, ideally near the secondary air system pic.6.
Use the chain included in the tool, but make sure no parts can come in contact ith moving parts from the engine.

4. Disconnect the housing in bet een of the secondary air pump and the secondary air valve pic. 7. Then connect the connection
hose for the secondary air system from the tool pic. 8.
5. To get the cleaning fluid directly to the secondary air conducts e have to activate the system (valve). Ho you have to procce ill
depend on the system you are orking on. Either you have a valve that is activated via vacuum, so you need a vacuum pump to
activate the valve pic. 9, or you have an electronic valve so please use the scanner to open the valve pic. 10. Without this proce-
dure e can´t clean the secondary air conducts. Prepare this step so you kno ho to do it but ait to read the step 6 to proceed.
6. Connect the pressurized air hose to the tool. Start the engine and get him up to orking temperature. Set the pressure regulator
from the Tool secondary air system up to a maximum of 2-bar pic. 10. No activate the secondary air system of the engine (as
indicated in step 5). Open the stopcock of the compressed air and let just run compressed air through the conducts for up to 30
seconds pic. 12.

Check the pressure gauge, there should be at least still 2-bar of pressure. If necessary, close the compressed air shut-off valve a
little. No open slo ly the stopcock of the cleaner until you see hite foam inside of the transparent hose. One can ill take in
bet een for 15 to 20 min. The can is completely empty hen opening the stopcock of the cleaner completely and no liquid comes
out. After ards close the stopcock of the cleaner but let the air run for up to 30 seconds, then close the pressure regulator com-
pletely pic. 13. Stop the engine, remove the empty can 929 Secondary air cleaner in the reverse procedure of the steps 1 and 2 of
this instruction.
8. No apply the same procedure as described in step 1 to 7 ith a second can of 929 Secondary air system cleaner. Then repeat
the process ith the 930 Neutralization solution secondary air pic. 14.
9. Should there be a second cylinder head, repeat the procedure for it as described in step 1 to 8.
10. After the complete cleaning procedure remove the complete Tool Secondary-Air Cleaning and reconnect the housings from the
secondary air system of the engine.
11. Check the fault codes and erase them if there are some registered.
12. With an adequate scanner check the functionality of the secondary air system and revise the effectivity of the cleaning procedure.
