Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the LINDY Cat.5 FireWire Extender! The Cat.5 FireWire Extender is capable of
sending FireWire IEEE1394 signals via a Cat.5e/6 cable up to 75 metres, at data rates of up to 400Mbps.

Installation
There are two Cat.5 FireWire Extender units supplied, both units can act as either the transmitter or
receiver.
1. Connect one of the FireWire Cat.5 Extender units to the local device using a standard FireWire 800
cable, or using one of the supplied FireWire 800 6 Pin to 9 Pin adapter cables, according to the
available port on your device.
2. Attach the supplied Power Adapter (9V, 0.3A) to the other FireWire Cat.5 Extender unit, which will be
used at the remote end of the cable.
3. Connect one end of a Cat.5e or Cat.6 cable, up to 75m in length, to the cross-over adapter and the
other end to the remote Cat.5 FireWire Extender unit.
4. Connect the cross-over adapter to the local Cat.5 FireWire Extender unit.
5. Check that the LED indicator on both the host and remote Cat.5 FireWire Extender units are illuminated
solid green. If the indicators are not lit at all then please check each connection. If the indicators are
dimly lit, or flickering it is necessary to reduce the Cat.5e/6 cable length.
6. Using a standard FireWire 800 cable, or using the remaining supplied FireWire 800 6 Pin to 9 Pin
adapter cable, according to the available port on your FireWire device, connect the remote Cat.5
FireWire Extender unit to your FireWire Device.
7. Operate the FireWire Device in the same way as if it was directly connected to your computer .

Installation
Beide gelieferten Cat.5 FireWire Extender können sowohl als Sender oder Empfänger verwendet werden.
1. Verbinden Sie einen FireWire Cat.5 Extender mit dem Local Computer. Verwenden Sie dazu ein
Standard FireWire 800-Kabel oder eines der gelieferten FireWire 800 6Pol an 9Pol Adapterkabel, je
nach den an ihrem Computer vorhandenen Anschlüssen.
2. Stecken Sie das Netzteil (9V, 0.3A) in den zweiten FireWire Cat.5 Extender, der nun am entfernten
(remote) Kabelende eingesetzt wird.
3. Verbinden Sie ein Ende des bis zu 75m langen Cat.5e/6 Kabels (1:1) mit dem Remote Unit des
FireWire Cat.5 Extender, das andere Ende mit dem beiliegenden RJ45 CrossOver-Adapter.
4. Stecken Sie den RJ45 CrossOver-Adapter in das Local Unit des Cat.5 FireWire Extender.
5. Bei korrektem Anschluss leuchten die LEDs an beiden Extendern grün auf. Sollte dies nicht der Fall
sein, überprüfen Sie bitte die einzelnen Verbindungen. Leuchten die LEDs nur ganz schwach oder
flackern sie, sollte die Kabellänge reduziert werden.
6. Den Remote FireWire Extender können Sie nun – je nachdem welcher Anschluss an Ihrem FireWire
Device verfügbar ist - mit einem FireWire 800 Standardkabel oder dem beiliegenden FireWire 800
6Pol- an 9Pol-Adapterkabel am FireWire Device anschließen.
7. Das FireWire Device funktioniert nun in derselben Weise wie bei direktem Anschluss an Ihrem
Computer.

Installation
Il y a deux unités extender cat.5 FireWire fournies, les 2 unités peuvent agir en tant qu’émetteur et
récepteur.
1. Connectez une des unités extender FireWire cat.5 sur l’ordinateur en utilisant un câble standard
FireWire 800, ou en utilisant les câbles adaptateurs fournis FireWire 800 6 pins vers 9 pins, suivant le
nombre de ports de votre ordinateur.
2. Connectez l’alimentation (9V, 0.3A ) à l’autre unité extender FireWire cat.5, qui sera utilisée sur
l’extrémité distante du câble, c'est-à-dire côté périphérique.
3. Sur un câble Cat.5e ou Cat.6 pouvant aller jusqu'à 75 mètres, connecter l'un des côtés sur l'adaptateur
croisé, et l'autre sur l'unité récépteur de l'Extender Firewire Cat.5
4. Connecter l'adaptateur croisé sur l'unité émetteur de l'Extender FireWire Cat5
5. Vérifiez que le voyant (LED) est allumé en vert fixe sur le deux unités extender cat.5 FireWire. Si les
indicateurs ne sont pas allumés, merci de vérifier la connexion des 2 côtés. Si les indicateurs sont
faiblement allumés ou clignotants, il est nécessaire de réduire la longueur de câble cat.5e/6.
6. En utilisant un câble standard FireWire 800, ou en utilisant le câble adaptateur FireWire fourni
(FireWire 800 6 pins vers 9 pins), et suivant le nombre de ports disponibles sur périphérique FireWire,
connectez l’extender distant cat.5 FireWire sur votre périphérique FireWire.
7. Utilisez votre appareil FireWire de la même façon que s’il était connecté localement sur votre
ordinateur.

Installazione
L’Extender FireWire Cat.5 consiste in due unità che possono lavorare entrambe come unità trasmittente
o ricevente.
1. Collegare una delle due unità ad una porta FireWire libera sul computer tramite un cavo FireWire 800
standard oppure utilizzando uno dei cavi FireWire 800 6 Pin a 9 Pin incluso nella fornitura.
2. Collegare l’alimentatore (9V, 0.3A) all’altra unità dell’Extender, quella utilizzata come unità remota.
3. Collegare l'adattatore crossover con un cavo Cat.5e o Cat.6 lungo al massimo 75m da un lato, e
dall'altro collegare l'unità remota dell'Extender FireWire Cat.5
4. Collegare l'adattatore crossover all'unità locale dell'Extender FireWire Cat.5
5. Controllare che i LED verdi su entrambe le unità siano accesi, in caso contrario ricontrollare tutti i
collegamenti. Se questi indicatori emanano una luce debole o instabile è necessario ridurre la
lunghezza del cavo Cat.5e/6.
6. Utilizzare un cavo standard FireWire 800 o i cavi FireWire 800 6 Pin a 9 Pin inclusi nella fornitura a
seconda delle porte a disposizione sul dispositivo FireWire per collegare l’unità remota dell’Extender
al dispositivo.
7. Utilizzare il dispositivo FireWire collegato come se fosse connesso direttamente al computer
