1 Introduction –General Information
We thank you for purchasing our company’s product and hope that you will be fully satisfied with the
performance of your Mattress System throughout its service life. Because of our careful selection of
materials and the latest production and build techniques, our Mattress System meets the parameters that
guarantee high quality, reliability and constant value. Linet are dedicated to serving your needs and
providing the best products available along with training that will bring your staff maximum benefit from
our products. Please contact us if you have any questions about the operation or maintenance of your
Mattress System. Before using your Mattress System, familiarize yourself with the various parts and
controls as detailed in this Service Manual. Please read this Service Manual thoroughly before using
your Mattress System.
When making contact with Linet the following information n is required:
The correct Name or Model number of your Mattress System.
The correct Serial Number of your Mattress System.
Both can be found on the serial label which is located on the rear side of the SCU.

1.1 Tools and Test Equipment
A general engineering tool kit is required for maintaining your Mattress System. In addition, certain
specialist tools and test equipment are required. These are detailed below.

2 Introduction
Air2Care is designed for use in all health care facilities, hospitals, nursing homes and community care as
an aid to the prevention and treatment of skin injuries related to pressure damage.
The mattress complies with the following standards and directives:
93/42/EEC
2011/65/EU

The manufacturer adheres to a certified quality management system in compliance with the

The User Manual must be read and understood before operating your Mattress system. All
functions must be used as detailed in the user manual. If your Mattress system is used for any
activity other than that detailed within the User Manual then personal risk to the Carer or patient
may occur. Linet shall not be held liable/responsible for such an event

The manufacturer will not be liable for any damage, injury, accidents which may arise because of
carelessness or negligence. Safety Instructions regarding the operation of your Mattress System
must be fully understood. Linet reserves the right to change/modify the content of this Service
Manual when necessary.

Linet recommend that you should consult your local facility policy regarding the use of side rails
when using this product.

The mattress cover of this product is not air permeable and may present a suffocation risk. It is
the responsibility of the caregiver to ensure that the patient uses this product safely.

Modifications to this product may only be performed by trained service personnel and with the
authorisation of the manufacturer.

After repair or Modifications have been performed to this product appropriate inspection and
testing must be performed in accordance with manufacturers and local hospital safety &
maintenance instructions

Do not use your Mattress System SCU in the presence of flammable gases. This
excludes oxygen cylinders.

3 Safety Instructions
To ensure correct operation of Air2Care Mattress system, ensure the power supply available is
108-132 VAC, 60Hz or 220-240 VAC, 50Hz depending on your variant.
To avoid electric shock, the Precioso SCU can be isolated from the electricity supply by
unplugging the mains plug from the wall socket.
Keep Air2Care SCU away from radiators and other heat sources to prevent overheating.
When in use ensure the SCU is not covered and that the airflow is not restricted.
Ensure the mains power lead is routed to avoid a trip hazard.
Do not coil the mains power lead when in use.
Do not attempt to service Air2Care system unless you have received full service training and
documentation from Linet.
NOTE: More concrete safety instructions for use can be found in the user manual for Air2Care.
3.1 Risk Assessment
Make sure your work area is adequately sized and suitably lit.
Your working area should be free from clutter that could cause injury.
Use good engineering and manual handling practices to reduce risk of injury.
Tools and test equipment should to be kept in good condition.
You must be adequately trained to perform the task.
All systems should be presented for maintenance in a clean and in infection free condition.
Precautions should be taken when inspecting an internal mattress or cushion components as
punctured covers could present a level of contamination.
Suitable protective garments should be worn (e.g. gloves) disposable aprons etc.
On completion of maintenance wash hands thoroughly, dispose of all protective disposable
garments and clean all tools and / or test equipment which may have become contaminated
using an appropriate cleaner / disinfectant.
You must comply with all local site safety rules, report all incidents or accidents to the site safety
supervisor.

Servicing should only be performed by qualified Linet personnel unless you have received formal
Linet training beforehand.

5 Control Panel Description
5.1 Air2Care 10
The control panel of the SCU serves to control the mattress replacement system and shows errors.
Alarms are signaled by illumination of the indicator 2.

5.1.1 APT –Alternating pressure therapy
Air2Care operates by alternating pressure in a two cell system in a 12 minute interval cycle. This imitates
the natural movement of the patient. During this cycle reduced pressure acts on the patient which helps
to prevent and treat pressure sores.
When APT mode is selected:
2-cell mattress will inflate and deflate in cycles of 12 minutes.
5.1.2 STATIC –Static inflated mode
Static mode provides a stable surface for the patient when getting into or out of bed or if required when
performing nursing procedures. Air cell pressure can be varied using the manual pressure control.
When STATIC mode is selected:
SCU will inflate all cells to the same pressure.

The control panel of the SCU serves to control the mattress replacement system, for mode selection
and shows errors. Alarms are signaled by blinking of the indicator 2 or by acoustic signal.

5.2.1 APT –Alternating pressure therapy
Air2Care operates by alternating pressure in a two cell system in a 12 minute interval cycle. This imitates

To select APT mode:
Press Mode (4) button until indicator next to APT mode symbol is illuminated.

5.2.2 MAX –Maximum inflation mode
MAX mode provides a solid and stable surface for patient treatment. MAX mode will run for 30 minutes at
most. If no other mode is switched on within these 30 minutes, then the SCU will turn back into
previously selected mode APT or CLP.
To select MAX mode:
Press Mode (4) button until indicator next to MAX mode symbol is illuminated.
When MAX mode is selected:
SCU will inflate all cells to the maximum pressure.
MAX mode indicator will flash until maximum pressure is reached, then will remain on.
30 minutes after selecting the MAX mode the system will switch back into previously selected
mode (APT or CLP).

5.2.3 CLP –Constant low pressure
CLP mode keeps the mattress pressure at the selected level. The pressure is checked automatically and
adjusted if necessary.
To select CLP mode:
Press Mode (4) button until indicator next to CLP mode symbol is illuminated.
When CLP mode is selected:
SCU will inflate all cells to the same selected pressure.
CLP mode indicator will flash until preset pressure is reached, then will remain on.
The system automatically checks pressure in the mattress according to the selected pressure
level and automatically adjusts pressure if required.

6 System Performance Test
The System performance test is a complete test of the SCU and the Mattress to ensure it correctly
functions. The test sequence detailed below must be followed post service, or when any major
components have been replaced.
6.1 System Connection
Ensure that the test adaptor (2) is fitted with the correct connector block for the Air2Care (D7000662
which is part of S7000184E). Insert the Air Connector (1) into the Test Adaptor (2) and insert the Air
Connector/Test Adaptor into the SCU as shown in figure 03. Connect the three Test Adaptor pipes to the
corresponding Sphygmomanometer test gauges i. e. ‘H’ to ‘H’, ‘A’ to ‘A’ and ‘B’ to ‘B’. Plug the SCU
mains cable into an available electrical mains outlet.

6.2 SCU Power on Test
Switch on the SCU using the power on /off switch on the front of the SCU (A2C 10 see figure 1, A2C20
see figure 2) and select Static mode (A2C 10) or Max Inflate (A2C20). After switching ON the mattress
will start to inflate, the indicator is illuminated during inflation. Set the pressure control dial into middle
–green position (see Controls and Indicators). Inflation may take up to 30 minutes. When inflation is
complete, the indicator is no longer illuminated.

6.3 Pressure Tests
6.3.1 APT Mode
Set the Mode to APT using the Mode selection switch on A2C10 or the Mode selection button on A2C20.
Set the Pressure control dial to its 'LO' position. Using the Sphygmomanometer test gauges ensure that
each cell achieves a pressure of 20 mmHg (+/- 2mmHg) A2C10, 15 mmHG (+/-5 mmHg) A2C20, does
not drop by more than 5mmHg during its inflated period and the cells inflate in the correct order during
the cycle. The total cycle time for all 2 cells to inflate and deflate is 12 minutes. When this test has been
completed successfully move the Pressure control dial to its 'HI' setting and check that the cell pressures
reach 45mmHg (+/-5) A2C10 & 50mmHg(+/-5) A2C 20.

6.3.2 STATIC Mode (Air2Care 10)
Set the SCU to static mode using the mode select switch. The selection of this mode will be indicated by
a yellow flashing light. When all mattress cells have achieved their pressure setting the the low pressure
indicator will go out. Using the Sphygmomanometer test gauges ensure all cells achieve the pressure
setting of 45mmHg +/- 5mmHg
6.3.3 MAX Mode (Air2Care 20)
Set the SCU to ‘MAX’ mode using the mode select button. The selection of this mode will be indicated by
an Amber flashing light. When all mattress cells have achieved their pressure setting the Amber light
should be continually lit. Using the Sphygmomanometer test gauges ensure all cells achieve pressure of
45 mmHg (+/- 5mmHg).
6.3.4 CLP Mode (Air2Care 20)
Set the SCU to ‘CLP’ mode using the mode select button and set the pressure control dial to its 'Lo' position.. The
selection of this mode will be indicated by an Amber flashing light. When all mattress cells have achieved their
pressure setting the Amber light should be continually lit. Using the Sphygmomanometer test gauges ensure all cells
achieve a pressure of 12mmHg (+2/- 3mmHg). Move the pressure control dial to its 'Hi' setting and repeat the test.
The pressure achieved should now be 45mmHg (+2/-5mmHg)

6.4 Alarm Tests
6.4.1 Low Pressure Alarm (Air2Care 20)
While the SCU is switched on in APT mode and fully inflated remove the Test Adaptor. After 12 minutes
an audible alarm should be heard and the error code indicator light should flash 4 times ,repeated every
4 seconds. Replace the air connector, switch the SCU off then back on and it will perform its initialization
sequence and the audio & visual alarms should stop.
6.4.2 Power Fail Alarm (Air2Care 20 only)
While the SCU is switched on remove the SCU mains power. The power fail alarm (intermittent single
tone alarm) should be heard. Replace the mains power this should silence the alarm.(note After long
periods of not being used the SCU must be connected to the mains power for at least 5 minutes
before performing this test to allow the back up alarm to charge)
7 Service Procedure
Only personnel trained or formally approved by Linet in the operation and maintenance of your Mattress
System may perform maintenance, modification or repair work. Unqualified personnel attempting to work
on Linet products risk serious injury to themselves / others and possibly death by electrocution.
The test equipment used for Servicing must be calibrated and traceable to National Standards. Records
and results of tasks must be retained by the maintainer and / or the user for future reference.
7.1 Annual Schedule
It is recommended that Air2Care Mattress System is part of your planned Preventative Maintenance
Programme. The minimum service interval Linet recommend is annually. See section 9 for full list of
recommended checks. Instructions for performing some of these checks are given below.
7.2 Electrical Testing
Electrical safety checks must be carried out prior to working on the equipment and on completion of any
routine maintenance or workshop repairs.
Using an Electrical Safety Tester that meets the Technical Specification requirements the following test
must be performed:

7.3 SCU Servicing (External)
Service as follows:
Disconnect the SCU from the mains supply.
Visually inspect the electrical mains cable for any signs of damage. Replace if necessary.
If fitted, visually inspect the fuse rating in the mains plug, replace if necessary.
Visually inspect the SCU Housing, Front Panel, Display Membrane, Air Connector and the Hook
Assembly for mechanical damage. Replace where necessary.
Remove and replace the SCU Filter. The filter must be replaced irrespective of whether it looks
visually clean. Ensure that when fitting the replacement filter it’s securely fitted into the rear cover
aperture. See figure 06.
Using an Electrical Safety Tester ensure the SCU passes the 500 Volt Insulation Test.
Wipe the SCU over with a disinfectant cloth ensuring all dirt and dust particles are removed.

7.4 SCU Servicing (Internal)
Remove the 6 rear cover screws as shown in figure 07. Gently lift off the rear cover to expose the
internal components.

Visually inspect all of the wiring looms for signs of damage. Replace if necessary.
Visually inspect all of the pipes for signs of damage and internal dirt / dust. Replace if necessary.
(Air2Care 20) Check Pressure Sensor pipe is in good condition as shown in figure 08.

Visually inspect the 2 x 1 amp Ceramic Power Supply PCB fuses. Ensure they are rated at the
correct value. See figure 09.

Re-fit the rear cover and secure the rear cover with the 6 retaining screws.
7.5 Mattress Servicing (External)
Visually inspect the Upper and Lower parts of the mattress cover for signs of damage or
deterioration including staining of the white inside cover surface. Replace if necessary.
Visually inspect the Umbilical Hose cover for signs of damage or deterioration. Replace if
necessary.
Visually inspect the Mattress cover security straps for signs of damage or deterioration. Replace
if necessary.
7.6 Mattress Servicing (Internal)
The Air2Care can be configured as an Overlay or ,with the addition of a foam or air base section,
a mattress replacement.
Un-zip the Mattress cover to gain access to the mattress See figure 10 (Mattress replacement
shown)
Visually inspect the pipes and connectors for correct fitment, signs of damage or deterioration.
Re-fit / replace if necessary.
Visually inspect the air cells for signs of damage or deterioration. Replace if necessary.
For all models undo the four retaining internal toggles. One at each corner.
Visually inspect the foam base for signs of damage or deterioration. Replace if necessary. Re-fit
the ‘internal toggles and replace the cover.
Visually inspect the Umbilical Air Connector for signs of damage i. e. deterioration, cracking or
splitting. Replace if necessary.
