IMPORTANTSAFETYINFORMATION
Mostaccidentswithenginescan be preventedifyoufollowallinstructionsinthis
manual andon theengine.Someofthemost commonhazardsarediscussed below,
alongwiththebestwaytoprotect yourselfandothers.
Owner Responsibilities
lThe enginesaredesigned togivesafeand dependableserviceifoperated according
toinstructions.Readandunderstandthisowner’smanualbeforeoperatingthe engine.
Failure todosocouldresultinpersonalinjuryor equipmentdamage.
lKnowhowtostop the engine quickly,andunderstandthe operationofallcontrols.
Never permitanyonetooperatetheenginewithoutproper instructions.
lDonotallowchildrentooperatetheengine.Keep childrenandpetsfarawayfromthe
area ofoperation.
Refuel WithCare
Gasolineisextremelyflammable,andgasolinevaporcan explode.Refueloutdoors,in
awell-ventilated area,withtheengine stopped.Never smokeneargasoline,andkeep
otherflamesand sparksaway.Alwaysstoregasolinein an approvedcontainer.If anyfuel
is spilled,makesuretheareaisdrybeforestartingthe engine.
HotExhaust
lThe muffler becomesveryhotduring operationandremainshotforawhile after
stoppingthe engine.Becareful nottotouchthe mufflerwhileitishot. Lettheengine
cool beforestoringitindoors.
lTopreventfirehazardsandtoprovideadequateventilationforstationaryequipment
applications, keeptheengine atleast 3feet(1meter)awayfrombuilding wallsand
otherequipmentduring operation.Donotplaceflammable objectsclosetothe engine.
Carbon MonoxideHazard
Exhaustgascontainspoisonouscarbonmonoxide.Avoid inhalationofexhaustgas.
Never run theengine inaclosed garage orconfinedarea.
