17. Troubleshooting
In the event of malfunctions, before contacting our customer service centre, please check to see
whether the problem is among those described in the converter handbook. When requesting
technical information or spare parts, please specify the type of unit and the data shown on the
rating plate attached to the unit’s electrical panel.
Carefully note down the number of flashes emitted by the alarm signalling devices before
disconnecting the power supply.
The maintenance operations on the unit or pumps may only be performed by qualified technicians
after the power supply has been disconnected.
Problem Probable cause Possible remedy
The electric pump does not start
Main switch on
Green light off
No power supply
Triggering of thermal-magnetic switch
Restore the power supply
Reset the switch
***= 2 flashes
Motor overload
Check the working conditions of the
pump
Check the motor
***=3 flashes
Converter overtemperature
Check to see if anything is preventing
the proper cooling of the converter
***= 4 flashes
Motor overtemperature ( PTC)
Check the working conditions and
whether anything is preventing the
proper cooling of the motor
***= 5 flashes
Dry running protection
Check the water level and the external
protection devices (float switch…)
***= 6 flashes
Pressure transmitter
Check the pressure transmitter, its
cable and connector.
The electric pump does not start or it
stops if it is already running
The main switch is on
Green light on
Red light on (*** flashes)
***=7 flashes
The supply voltage is too low
***=9 flashes
Overvoltage on DC BUS
Check the power line and cables
Overvoltage generated by the electrical
power line. Non-return valve faulty and
fluid flows in the opposite direction.
Check the equipotential earth system.
Water leaks through the non-return
valve
Check the hydraulic system and the
non-return valves
The pump’s speed increases and
decreases without any stops, and with
no water consumption (users closed)
Green light on
Yellow light on
Red light off
Diaphragm tank undersized or
ruptured
Check the operating conditions
Replace the tank
Pressure set point not suitable for the
system (the value is higher than the
pressure that the pump is able to
deliver)
Set the pressurePump runs at maximum speed without
any stops
Pressure transmitter not connected
(cock closed) or damaged.
Check the hydraulic and electrical
connection of the pressure transmitter
Only one pump is operating
Green light on
Yellow light off
Red light off
The pumps have different settings
Interrupted serial line cable
Set the pumps
Check the connection cables
There is water demand but the pump
does not start (Users open)
Green light on
Yellow light off
Red light off
Pressure set point not suitable for the
system (the value is zero)
Set the pressure
Triggering of general system
protection (fuses).
Short circuit Check the connection cables
Triggering of differential protection Ground leakage Check the connection cables
The pumps rotate in the wrong
direction
Restore the correct connection to the
motor by exchanging two leads.
On-off valves closed Open the valves
Air in the suction pipe Eliminate the air and prime the pumps
Excessive suction lift and/or flow
resistance on suction side (e.g. foot
valve)
Reduce the suction lift, increase the
diameter of the pipes, replace the foot
valve
The unit does not generate the desired
pressure
Excessive flow resistance in delivery
pipes and/or valves
Reduce water leaks
