1 Important safety instructions
Symbols used to mark
instructions
Before using the vac-
uum cleaner, always
read the operating
instructions and keep
them readily available. Manuals are
also available for download on the
Makita website.
This symbol is
used to mark safe-
ty instructions that
must be observed
to prevent dam-
age to the vacuum
cleaner and its performance.
This symbol is used
to mark safety instruc-
tions that must be
observed to prevent
damage to persons.
This symbol in-
dicates tips and
instructions to
simplify work and to ensure safe
operation.
For your own safety The appliance must
– only be used by persons, who
have been instructed in its correct
usage and explicitly commis-
sioned with the task of operating
it
– only be operated under supervi-
sion
This appliance is not intended for
use by persons (including children)
with reduced physical, sensory or
mental capabilities, or lack of expe-
rience and knowledge.
Children should be supervised to
ensure that they do not play with the
appliance.
The use of the vacuum cleaner
is subject to valid national regu-
lations. Besides the operating
instructions and the binding acci-
dent prevention regulations valid
in the country of use, observe
recognized regulations for safety
and proper use.
Do not use any unsafe work

Purpose and intended use The vacuum cleaners described
in this operating manual are sui-
table for
– sucking up dust and liquids
– commercial use, e.g. in ho-
tels, schools, hospitals, facto-
ries, shops, o󰀩ces and rental
businesses
– separation of dust with an
exposure limit of greater
than 1 mg/m³ (dust class L).
Please observe regula-
tions valid in your country.
The following materials should
not be picked up by the vacuum
cleaner:
– hot materials (burning cigaret-
tes, hot ash, etc.)
– flammable, explosive, ag-
gressive liquids (e.g. petrol,
solvents, acids, alkalis, etc.)
– flammable, explosive dust
(e.g. magnesium dust, etc.)
The appliance must
– only be used indoors and not
outdoors
– be protected against UV radi-
ation

When dust removers are used,
the rate at which air is exchanged
in the room must be adequate if
the exhaust air from the vacuum
cleaner is blown into the room
(please observe regulations valid
in your country).
Before starting work, the operat-
ing sta󰀨 must be informed on
– use of the vacuum cleaner
– risks associated with the ma-
terial to be picked up
– safe disposal of the picked
up material.
Precautions and safety
regulations when using the
vacuum cleaner
Before start-up
Inspect power cord regularly to
detect signs of damage, e.g.
cracks or ageing.
If the power cord is damaged,
it must be replaced by Makita-
Service or an electrician to avoid
danger before use of the vacuum
cleaner is continued.
Use only the type of power
cord specied in the operating
manual.
Do not damage the power cord
(e.g. by moving over it or pulling
or crushing it).
Disconnect the power cord by
pulling the plug only (do not pull
or tug the power cord).
Inspect the vacuum cleaners to
ensure that they are in proper
condition. Plugs and couplings in
power cords must at least have
splash protection.
Never use the vacuum cleaner
if the lter element is damaged.
Picking up liquids
If foam develops or liquid emerg-
es, stop work immediately and
empty the dirt tank.
Regularly clean the built in
level indicator hose to limit the
water level and check that it is
not damaged.
See section 5 for information on
handling liquids and (hazardous)
dust.
Electrical components
Check the rated voltage of the
vacuum cleaner before connect-
ing it to the mains supply system.
Ensure that the voltage shown
on the rating plate corresponds
to the voltage of the local mains
power supply.
If you are using an extension
cord, use only those specied
by the manufacturer or higher
quality ones (see section 9.4
„Technical data“).
It is recommended that the vacu-
um cleaner should be connected
via a residual current circuit
breaker. This stops the supply of
electricity if the leakage current to
earth exceeds 30 mA for 30 ms
or it has an earth tester circuit.
When using an extension lead,
check the minimum cross-sec-
tions of the cable:

Arrange the electrical parts

Before plugging an appliance into
the appliance socket:

Only carry out maintenance

Always pull out the mains plug

During maintenance and clean-
ing, handle the vacuum cleaner
in such a manner that there is no

other persons.
In the maintenance area
– use ltered compulsory venti-
lation
– wear protective clothing
– clean the maintenance are so
that no harmful substances
get into the surroundings
A dust test must be performed at
least once every year by Makita
service or a trained person.
This test includes, for example,
whether there is damage to
the lter, the vacuum cleaner is
sealed to the air and the control
equipment works properly.
Accessories and spare parts Use only the brushes supplied
with the vacuum cleaner or
specied in the operating man-
ual. The use of other brushes
can adversely a󰀨ect safety.
Use only original Makita ac-
cessories and spare parts
(see section 9.5). The use of
other parts can adversely a󰀨ect

2 Description
2.1 Purpose When used properly, the indus-
trial vacuum cleaners described
in these instructions are suit-
able for sucking up dry, non-
ammable dusts and li quids.

3 Before starting
3.1 Assembling the
vacuum cleaner
1. The mains plug should not
yet be inserted into a socket.
2. Open the retaining clamps
(1) and remove upper sec-
tion of the cleaner.
3. Take the accessories out of
the dirt tank and the packag-
ing.
4. Insert the disposal bag into
the dirt tank according to the
instructions in section 7.2.2.
IMPORTANT:
Press the disposal bag con-
nection firmly on to the inlet
fitting.
5. Fit the upper section of the
cleaner (do not damage
the lter bag) and close the
retaining clamps.
NOTE!
Ensure that the retaining
clamps t properly.

4 Operation
4.1.2 Electrical connection The operating voltage shown
on the rating plate must corres-
pond to the voltage of the
mains power supply.

starts when the connected
power tool is switched on.
2. When the power tool is
switched o󰀨, the vacuum
cleaner continues to run for
a short moment so that any
dust in the suction hose is
conveyed to the lter bag.


4.2.3 Suction power control The motor speed and the suc-
tion power can be varied with
the suction power control. This
allows precise adaptation of

To ensure that suction
performance is always at
its best, the lter element is
automatically cleaned during
operation. We recommend
complete cleaning if the lter
element becomes extremely
dirty.
4.3 Cleaning the filter
element
1. Switch o󰀨 the vacuum
cleaner.
2. Close the nozzles or suction
hose opening with the palm
of your hand.
3. Turn the switch to position „I“
and let the cleaner operate
for approx. 10 seconds with
the suction hose opening
closed.
5 Applications and techniques
5.1 Techniques If used correctly, additional ac-
cessories, suction nozzles and
suction hoses can enhance the
cleaning action and reduce the
cleaning e󰀨ort.
E󰀨ective cleaning is achieved if
you follow just a few guidelines
in combination with your own
practical experience in special
elds.
Here are some basic tips.

5.1.2 Picking up liquids CAUTION!
Do not pick up ammable
liquids.
Before liquids are picked up:
1. Always remove the disposal
bag.
2. Check that the built in level
indicator hose to limit the wa-
ter level is not clogged, clean
if necessary.
The use of a separate lter ele-
ment or lter screen is recom-
mended.
If foam appears, stop work im-
mediately and empty the tank.
To reduce the amount of foam,
use foam killer Foam Stop (see
section 9.5 "Accessories" for
order number).
5.1.1 Picking up dry sub-
stances
CAUTION!
Do not pick up ammable
substances.
Before picking up dry sub-
stances, always ensure that a
lter bag is inserted in the tank
(see section 9.5 "Accessories"
for order number). Disposal of
the picked up material is then
simple and hygienic.
After picking up liquids, the lter
element is wet. A damp lter
element clogs more quickly
when dry substances are
picked up. For this reason the
lter element should be washed
and dried or replaced by a dry
element before dry substances
are picked up.
6 After finishing work
6.1 Switching the vacuum
cleaner off and storage
1. Switch o󰀨 the vacuum clean-
er and pull the mains plug
out of the socket.
2. Wind up the power cord and
hang it on the cable hook.

the cable binder (sticks out-
side at the disposal bag).
3. Carefully remove the dispos-
al bag connection from the
inlet fitting.
4. Close the waste bag connec-
tion with the slide.
5. Dispose of the dirt in accord-
ance with legal regulations.
6. Insert a new filter bag into the
cleaned tank as described in
the instructions enclosed.
IMPORTANT:
Press the filter bag connection
firmly on to the inlet fitting.

remove it.

Check it for damage and
replace it if necessary.
6. Check the antistatic clamp
(5) for damage and have it
replaced by Makita Service
if necessary.
7. Check that the control ap

properly. The control ap
should move back and for-
wards easily.
8. Clean the level hose (7).
9. Fit a new lter element.
10. Fit the lter holder. Ensure
that it is in the correct posi-
tion.

9.1 Recycling the vacuum
cleaner
Make the old cleaner unusable
immediately.

9.3 Tests and approvals The vacuum cleaners have
been tested as specied in
EN 60335-2-69 (2012) including
appendix AA. All the require-
ments were fullled for equip-
ment in dust class L.
The vacuum cleaners must be
inspected regularly in accor-
dance with national accident
prevention regulations (in Ger-
many as specied in BGV A3
and DIN VDE 0701 Part 1 and
Part 3, at regular intervals and
after repairs or modications).
A dust test must be performed
at least once every year by the
manufacturer or a trained per-
son. This test covers, for exam-
ple, whether there is damage to
the lter, the vacuum cleaner is
sealed to the air and the control
equipment works properly.

Verwendungszweck und
bestimmungsgemäßer
Gebrauch
Die in dieser Betriebsanleitung be-
schriebenen Geräte sind geeignet
– zum Aufsaugen von Staub und
Flüssigkeiten
– für den gewerblichen Gebrauch,
z.B. in Hotels, Schulen, Kranken-
häusern, Fabriken, Läden, Büros
und Vermietergeschäften
– zur Abscheidung von Staub
mit einem Expositions-Grenz-
wert von größer als 1 mg/m³
(Staubklasse L). Beachten
Sie hierzu die für Sie gültigen
nationalen Bestimmungen.
Folgende Materialien dürfen
nicht gesaugt werden:
– heiße Materialien (glimmende
Zigaretten, heiße Asche etc.)
– brennbare, explosive, Stäube
(z. B. Magnesium-, Alumini-
umstaub etc.)
– brennbare, explosive, aggres-

Vorsichtsmaßnahmen und
Sicherheitsbestimmungen
beim Gebrauch
Vor der Inbetriebnahme
Netzanschlussleitung regelmä-
ßig auf Beschädigungen wie
z.B. Rissbildung oder Alterung
prüfen.
Wenn die Netzanschlussleitung
beschädigt ist, muss diese vor
dem weiteren Gebrauch des Ge-
rätes durch den Makita-Service
oder eine Elektrofachkraft ersetzt
werden, um Gefährdungen zu
vermeiden.
Die Netzanschlussleitung nur
durch den in der Betriebsanlei-
tung festgelegten Typ ersetzen.
Netzanschlussleitung nicht be-
schädigen (z. B. durch Überfah-
ren, Zerren, Quetschen).
Netzanschlussleitung nur direkt
am Stecker aus der Steckdose
ziehen (nicht durch Zerren an der
Anschlussleitung).
Gerät auf vorschriftsmäßigen
Zustand überprüfen. Stecker und
Kupplungen von Netzanschluss-
leitungen müssen mindestens
spritzwassergeschützt sein.
Nie mit beschädigtem Filterele-
ment saugen.
Flüssigkeiten saugen
Bei Schaumentwicklung oder
Flüssigkeitsaustritt sofort die Ar-
beit beenden und den Schmutz-
behälter entleeren.
Den eingebauten Füllstands-
schlauch zur Wasserstansbe-
grenzung regelmäßig reinigen
und auf Beschädigung prüfen.
Hinweise zum Umgang mit Flüs-
sigkeiten und (gesundheitsge-
fährlichem) Staub nden Sie in
Kapitel 5.
Elektrik
Überprüfen Sie die Nennspan-
nung des Gerätes, bevor Sie es
ans Netz anschließen. Überzeu-
gen Sie sich davon, dass die auf
dem Typenschild angegebene
Spannung mit der örtlichen Netz-
spannung übereinstimmt.
Bei Verwendung einer Verlän-
gerungsleitung darf nur die vom
Hersteller angegebene oder eine
höherwertige Ausführung ver-
wendet werden - siehe Abschnitt
9.4 „Technische Daten“.
Es wird empfohlen, dass das
Gerät über einen Fehlerstrom-
schutzschalter angeschlossen
wird. Dieser unterbricht die
Stromversorgung wenn der Ab-
leitstrom gegen Erde 30 mA
für 30 ms überschreitet oder er
enthält einen Erdungsprüfstrom-
kreis.
Bei Verwendung einer Verlän-
gerungsleitung auf die Mindest-
querschnitte der Leitung achten:

reichende Luftwechselrate im

Gerätesteckdose Die Steckdose am Gerät nur
für die in der Betriebsanleitung
festgelegten Zwecke verwenden.
Vor dem Einstecken eines Gerä-
tes in die Gerätesteckdose:
1. Sauger abschalten.
2. Anzuschließendes Gerät ab-
schalten.
ACHTUNG!
Bei an der Gerätesteckdose
angeschlossenen Geräten sind
deren Betriebsanleitung und die
darin enthaltenen Sicherheitshin-
weise zu beachten.
Wartung, Reinigung und
Reparatur
Nur Wartungsarbeiten ausfüh-
ren, die in der Betriebsanleitung
beschrieben sind.
Vor dem Reinigen und Warten
des Gerätes ist grundsätzlich der
Netzstecker zu ziehen.
Zur Wartung und Reinigung
muss das Gerät so behandelt
werden, dass keine Gefahr für
das Wartungspersonal und an-
dere Personen entsteht.
Im Wartungsbereich
– gefilterte Zwangsentlüftung

– Schutzkleidung tragen
– den Wartungsbereich so
reinigen, dass keine gefährli-

Es ist mindestens jährlich vom
Makita-Service oder einer aus-
gebildeten Person eine staub-
technische Überprüfung durch-
zuführen, z. B. auf Beschädigung
des Filters, Luftdichtigkeit des
Gerätes und Funktion der Kon-
trolleinrichtungen.
Zubehör und Ersatzteile Nur die mit dem Gerät geliefer-
ten oder in der Betriebsanleitung
festgelegten Bürsten verwen-
den. Die Verwendung anderer
Bürsten kann die Sicherheit
beeinträchtigen.
Nur Makita-Original-Zubehör-
und Ersatzteile verwenden (siehe
Kapitel 9.5). Die Verwendung
anderer Teile kann die Sicherheit
beeinträchtigen.
