supply.
WARNINGS
Do not expose the equipment to rain or moisture.
Do not remove the cover from the equipment.
Do not push anything inside the equipment through the
ventilation holes.
Do not handle the mains lead with wet hands.
EQUIPMENT MAINS WORKING SETTING
Your Marantz product has been prepared to comply with the
household power and safety requirements that exist in your area.
PS2100 can be powered by 230 V AC only.
IMPORTANT: (FOR UK VERSION)
This apparatus is fitted with an approved moulded 13 Amp plug.
To change a fuse in this type of plug proceed as follows:
1. Remove fuse cover and fuse.
2. Fix new fuse which should be a BS1362 13A, A.S.T.A. or BSI
approved type.
3. Refit the fuse cover.
If the fitted plug is not suitable for your socket outlets, it should be
cut off and an appropriate plug fitted in its place.
If the mains plug contains a fuse, this should have a value of 13A.
If a plug without a fuse is used, the fuse at the distribution board
should not be greater than 5A.
Note:
The severed plug must be destroyed to avoid a possible shock
hazard should it be inserted into a 13A socket elsewhere.
HOW TO CONNECT A PLUG
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the
following code:
BLUE—“NEUTRAL” (“N”)
BROWN—“LIVE” (“L”)
1. The BLUE wire must be connected to the terminal which is
marked with the letter “N” or coloured BLACK.
2. The BROWN wire must be connected to the terminal which is
marked with the letter “L” or coloured RED.
3. Do not connect either wires to the earth terminal in the plug which
is marked by the letter “E” or by the safety earth symbol or
coloured green or green-and-yellow.
Before replacing the plug cover, make certain that the cord grip is clamped
over the sheath of the lead — not simply over the two wires.

Prevent extra heat from reaching the unit. Never put the receiver in
the full glare of the sun or near a heat source.

CONTROL jacks, such as a CD-Recorder (DR2100) and DVD player
(DV2100), means that these components can be remote controlled
from this unit (PS2100).
Connect the REMOTE CONTROL jacks of this unit to the REMOTE
CONTROL jacks of another component using RCA-type pin lead
provided.
To operate the PS2100 in the SYSTEM mode, the leads from the other
components must be connected to the PS2100.
The lead from OUTPUT terminal of other component is connected to

components).
Connect the REMOTE CONTROL jacks of this unit to the REMOTE
CONTROL jacks of another component using RCA-type pin lead
provided. Please refer below.

connected, the system control switch must be set to INT position.
Therefore, components other than Marantz AV system are controlled
by their own remote controls.
Connect the REMOTE CONTROL jacks of this unit only to the
REMOTE CONTROL jacks of Marantz AV system, using RCA-type
pin lead provided. Do not connect the remote control cable to the other
models. Please refer below.

IMPORTANT:
A: Be sure to set the present time before setting the timer.
B: If the times set for two or three timer programs overlap, the timer
will operate as follows:
1) If the ON time of one program comes after the ON time of the
other program:
(Example)
In the case shown on the left,
PROG-2 is not executed.
2) If the ON time of one program coincides with the OFF time of
the other program:
(Example)
In the case shown on the left,
PROG-2 is also executed.
However, there is a possibility
that the OFF time of PROG-1
may be earlier than set. (For
example, if you set an OFF
time of 13:00, the program may actually finish at 12:55.) This is
because the system takes some time to prepare the next
function.
3) There is a priority between recording and playing programs
when two or three timer programs start at the same time.

cannot be executed.

CANCELING BEAT NOISE WHEN RECEIVING AM
BROADCAST SIGNALS
Introduction:
The PS2100 incorporates a high-performance digital amplifier.
Because this digital amplifier uses high-frequency signals, the
following problem may be encountered when receiving AM broadcast
signals:
Depending on the frequency of the AM broadcast, a high-pitched tone
may be generated, making it difficult to listen to the broadcast. If this
happens, perform the procedure described below and use the setting
that results in the least amount of noise.
Procedure:
While listening to an AM broadcast, press the SURROUND button D
on the front panel. On the remote control, press the AMP button v
and then press 4 button .. Pressing this button once shifts the
oscillating frequency of the digital amp; pressing the button again will
shift the oscillating frequency back to the original frequency.
Set whichever frequency produces the least amount of beat noise.
The above operation can only be performed when AM band is
selected.
Preset memory method:
If you perform the normal preset memory operation after performing
the above operation, the beat cancel setting will be stored in preset
memory.
Auto-preset memory:
When an AM broadcast is received during the auto-preset memory
operation, the audio from the broadcast will be output on the speakers
for five seconds. If beat noise can be heard, press the SURROUND
button D.
Note:
If the reception frequency is changed after the AM beat cancel
operation has been performed, the AM beat cancel setting is
cancelled. The setting is also cancelled if a preset memory setting for
which the beat cancel setting was not stored is called up. To save the
setting in memory, refer to the explanations for "Preset memory
method" and "Auto-preset memory" above.
Note that AM beat cancel ON/OFF is not displayed on the LCD.
