property damage as well. In order to use the product safely, read the instruction manual thoroughly before

◆Understand the risks.
The Product generates high-voltage and high-energy.
The product is designed for electrical engineers or the equivalents who install, wire, and operate it.
Read the instruction manual thoroughly before use and familiarize yourself with the proper use and danger
of the product.
◆Make sure to allow only specific people to handle the product.
Make sure to allow only the following people to handle the product:
1. who are electrical engineers or the equivalents and have already familiarized themselves with the
proper use and danger of the product, or
2. who are electrical engineers or the equivalents and have already been trained by the above-mentioned
people, or
3. who work under the supervision of the above-mentioned people.
If people other than those listed above install, wire, or operate the product, it may cause electric shock,
burnout, or injury.
◆Do not open or remove the case or panel of the product.
Do not disassemble, repair, or modify the product by yourself. High-voltage is applied to the inside of it.
Otherwise, it may cause electric shock, fire, or malfunction.
Moreover, if you do it, the safety and functions are not covered with the warranty.
◆The product does not suit to install and use in places where children may be present.
The product is designed to be installed in places such as factories or laboratories. Do not install and use it
where children may be present.
◆Make sure to ground it.
When the product has a protection ground terminal or GND terminal, make sure to ground it.
When the AC line input of it is an inlet type, connect the attached power cable or a power cable suitable
for your area to an outlet with the ground. Otherwise, it may result in electric shock or fire.
◆Regarding power cable
When a power cable is enclosed or attached to the product, do not use it for other products.
When no power cable is enclosed with the product, prepare the power cable suitable for the usage
environment and area by yourself.
◆Regarding the connection of power cable
Electrical engineers or the equivalents who have already been familiarized with the proper use and danger
of the product should connect the power cable to the AC input by referring to the instruction manual.
Regarding products that have acquired the safety standard, check the page describing the over-voltage
categories too.
◆Do not process or damage power cables
It may result in electric shock or fire.
◆Regarding the input voltage
Check the page describing the input terminals and input voltage in the instruction manual.
Do not provide any voltage out of the specifications.

◆Regarding the fuse
The product builds in a protective fuse. In the case where a fuse holder is arranged outside of the product,
you can replace it by yourself. Refer to the instruction manual to replace it.
In the case where a fuse holder is not arranged outside of the product, you cannot replace it by yourself.
In this case, do not open the case or panel of the product and contact us.
◆The product is designed for indoor use.
Use the product indoors only, not outdoors. Even indoors, do not use it if there is a possibility of water
leakage, flooding, or snow covering.
◆Regarding operating temperature and humidity
Use the product within the range of the specifications describing in the instruction manual.
Do not use it in a place where the ambient temperature exceeds the specified range or a closed place.
◆Do not install the product in places where condensation may occur.
Otherwise, insulation deteriorates and it may cause electric shock, fire, or malfunction.
◆Do not place anything on top of the product.
Otherwise, they may fall or tumble from it.
◆Do not put anything into the product.
Do not put foreign objects such as metal or liquid into the product through the air inlets, air outlets, or other
openings. Otherwise, it may result in electric shock, fire, or malfunction.
◆Operate the product with the right hand.
Use only your right hand to operate the product and keep your left hand away from it, which can reduce
the risk of electric current flowing through the left hand to the vital organs of the body in the event of an
electric shock.
◆Do not touch the wiring/load connected to the output and any terminals/connectors during the
operation or just after turning output off.
Very high-voltage is on the terminals and connectors during the operation and even just after the output is
turned off. Touching them may result in serious injury or death by electric shock.
The terminals here mean all terminals like input and output terminals and terminals for communications
and remote controls.
◆Turn off the product before touching the wiring/load connected to the product and any
terminals/connectors on the product and cut it off from the AC input.
Before touching the terminals/connectors and wiring/load, turn off the product and unplug the AC input
cable from the outlet or turn off the AC input breaker. Then, check there is no voltage remained using a
tester.
Since the output and sense terminals are connected to condensers in it, there is high-voltage remained on
them even just after it is turned off.
In order to avoid electric shock, ground the terminals to discharge using a short-circuit grounding apparatus
and check the voltage again.
The terminals here mean all terminals like input and output terminals and terminals for communications
and remote controls.

◆Level the product out to use for good heat dissipation.
Do not install the product upside down or sideways. If not, the inner heat dissipation will be insufficient.
It may result in smoke or fire due to components deterioration.
◆Do not install the product in a place where cold air directly blows to it.
It may result in electric leakage or burnout due to condensation.
◆Do not install the product in a place where it is exposed to corrosive gases or liquids.
It may result in smoke or burnout due to components deterioration.
◆Do not install the product in a dusty place.
Accumulating dust in the air inlet will make hard to cool it down it, it may result in malfunction.
In that case, remove dust immediately.
◆Do not block the air inlet and outlet.
Secure 30 cm space at least around the openings.
If they are blocked, the product cannot show the rated performance due to the internal temperature
increase. Moreover, components deteriorate and it may result in smoke or fire.
◆Remove wiring to and from the product when work like welding near it is done.
◆Do not wipe the equipment with a dust cloth wet with chemicals (thinner or the like) or water.
Otherwise, it may result in an electric shock, electric leakage, or burnout due to water getting inside.
◆Regarding fan replacement
When products equip a fan, it has a lifetime. It will be worn out and deteriorated with the time passed and
its operation may become unstable. Also, its lifetime greatly varies depending on the usage environment
such as temperature, humidity, dust. It requires to be replaced at regular intervals to extend the lifetime.
For the replacement, contact us.
(It requires a replacement charge separately. Do not replace it by yourself, as there is a risk of electric
shock.)

We have taken all possible measures to control the quality of our products. For the best performance
and safe use, handle the product correctly according to this manual.
We have applied our best to prepare this instruction manual, but if you find any unclear points, errors,
and missing contents, please contact us.

Initial Inspection
Before wiring, thoroughly check the unit for abnormalities.
Check the panel and chassis for dents and other obvious impacts caused by transportation prior to
operation. If any abnormalities should be found, contact both Matsusada Precision and the carrier.
Transportation Method
When carrying the product, carry it by two or more people.
Hold the bottom on the front panel side and on the rear side to carry it.
When placing it, be careful not to get your fingers caught in the bottom of it.
Avoid placing a load on the handle on the front panel.
Otherwise, the product could be damaged and injury could occur.

Installation
The product is designed to be installed in the customer’s system and so as to meet the requirements
of CE marking regarding chassis mounting, noise control, proper protections, and isolated devices. It
is not designed to perform alone.
Installation Conditions
Do not use the product in places where there is a lot of dust , corrosive gas, etc.
Do not install or store the unit in a place where condensation may occur.
Do not store or use the product in a place where conductive dust, such as iron powder,
can enter through the air inlet/outlet. Doing so may cause a short circuit, resulting in
electric leakage, burnout, fire, or malfunction.
Do not use substitute parts or modify the internal circuit of the product.
Set and use the product horizontally.
The product has an air intake port on its backside and an exhaust port on the sides.
Secure enough space around the product to get good ventilation.
When installing the unit in a closed cabinet, take measures such as forced ventilation
to prevent exhaust heat from the exhaust port returning to the intake port.
As for repairs or modification, contact us.
The product is a high voltage power supply.
Please read the instruction manual carefully and understand the safety instructions in order to prevent
death or serious injury.

To properly use the high-performance product featuring high stability and low ripple, follow the correct
connection and grounding procedures before operation.
Connecting AC Input Cable
AC Input Cable
Use the AC input cable suitable for the operation environment and regions. If there is no AC cable that
corresponds to the following, please prepare it by yourself.

If you want to use a power cable instead of the supplied AC input cable, it is recommended that the
length of the power cable be 2.5 meters or shorter in that there is a possibility of noise with the power
cable having a length of 2.5 meters or longer. In case the product is affected by noise, take appropriate
measures of noise suppression.
Precautions
Be sure to electrically ground the product with the AC input terminal. Otherwise, it is
dangerous for the user.
Do not use the supplied AC input cable in any other purposes.
AC input connections should be performed by a trained electrician, or personnel with a similar
level of knowledge who understands how to use this product correctly and who is familiar with the
risks involved.
Install a breaker between the AC main power and this product. The breaker should be located in
a position where you can easily handle it.
Be sure to cut off the AC input before connecting or modifying wires.
Before turning the AC input power on, make sure that all wiring is correct and that there are no
loose connections.
Confirm the input voltage according to the specifications of this instruction manual as well as the
indication on the unit, and then, input voltage within the specification range. Otherwise, it may
cause damage to the product.

Installation Procedure
Attach the AC input cable to the AC input connector on the rear panel according the following
procedure.
1. Attach the connector of the supplied AC input cable to the AC input connector of the product.
2. Attach the plug of the supplied AC input cable to the outlet provided.
3. If the other end which is not equipped with a plug, attach cramp terminals there, and then, connect
them to a breaker.
Connect L (Live line), N (Neutral line), and (Ground).
The product has the AC fuse in the L.
Wrong connection may cause electric shock or fire.

Precautions for Handling
Touching the load after high voltage OFF
1. Set the output voltage setting to zero, or set the HV OUTPUT ON/OFF switch to OFF.
2. Confirm that the voltage is zero on the output voltmeter of the product.
3. Turn OFF the POWER ON/OFF switch.
4. Ground it more than 10 seconds. Then, check the voltage with another high-voltage
voltmeter.
Note that it is especially dangerous if the load is capacitive or if a cable longer than the
supplied cable is used.
5. Use the right hand when operating the load.

Be sure to ground the GND terminal as mentioned above. Inappropriate grounding
could cause electric shock or damage to the product.
In case a short circuit or discharge of the load is expected, make the GND cable
thicker and shorter.

Use Precautions About High Voltage Amplifier
Preventative measures:
(1) Keep the length of the output cable as short as possible.
(2) Keep the output cable away from floors, desks, or metal objects, etc.
(3) Output cable is not shielded.
Due to the character of the high-voltage amplifier, the output cable of the unit is not shielded. If the
output cable has some stray capacity against ground (ground or metal objects), the output wil have
extra current flow as charging/discharging current in the AC or step waveform.
Note that the following phenomenon may occur:
(1) The maximum rated voltage/current is not reached.
(2) The waveform in the rated current operation / current monitoring is distorted or deformed.

When using the product as a high-speed and high-voltage amplifier (except for DC
mode), be sure to have proper connection by minimizing the ground stray capacity
of the high voltage output line.

Captive Load
A captive load of 100pF (including floating capacity of output cable) may cause oscillation.
In this case, put a power resistor of 100Ω (at 0.1μF) to 1kΩ (at 1000pF) in series with the output. Note
that, however, with the capacitive load, frequency bandwidth is limited according to the series
resistance and capacitance.
Frequency Response
If accurate output waveforms are required, select a bipolar power supply/HV amplifier which has high
enough frequency bandwidth against required frequency.
In general, three to five times more frequency bandwidth for sine waveform, and about 10 times more
for rectangular waveform, is required. In case of insufficient frequency bandwidth, the output swing
shall be reduced, and also the phase difference will be large, so use it while monitoring the output
waveform.
Rise Time
Step time: In some cases, responsiveness might be indicated with rise time. Generally, the rise time
of amplifier with a response speed (=frequency bandwidth) fc [Hz] is given by a formula below.

Slew Rate
The responsibility of this product is determined with slew rate (SR). The step response is as shown
in the following figure.
The slew rate is the amount of voltage change per unit time which is expressed as SR = △V/μS.
If the output amplitude is smaller, the response time becomes shorter.
The high-speed amplifier reached a maximum of SR = 360V/μS.
For Safer and Proper Use
1. For safety reason, place an insulating sheet that can withstand the voltage used on the floor
where the operator stands to operate the unit.
2. When operating the product or load, use the right hand and keep the left hand in a pocket to avoid
touching other objects.
3. Immediately after turning off the voltage or long after turning off, ground the output more than 10
seconds before you touch the load.

Connecting BNC Terminal
When using cables for the following terminals, it is recommended that the length of the cables be 1.5
meters or shorter.
Dealing with high levels of noise may cause malfunction. The allowable output value fluctuation is up to ±
50%. Note that, however, the installation and wiring condition of the product will make it susceptible to
noise. Please evaluate the product thoroughly against noise before use. If the product is affected by noise,
take appropriate measures of noise reduction by using EMC reduction parts such as noise filters.

When connecting the cables, be sure to use the following terminals. Otherwise, do not connect the cables
at all.
・Input connector of the external control voltage (Vcon-in)

・Optional output current monitor terminal (Imoni)
It is for -L1 option.

・Output voltage monitor terminal (Vmoni)
