◆Understand the risks.
The Product generates high-voltage and high-energy.
The product is designed for electrical engineers or the equivalents who install, wire, and operate it.
Read the instruction manual thoroughly before use and familiarize yourself with the proper use and danger
of the product.
◆Make sure to allow only specific people to handle the product.
Make sure to allow only the following people to handle the product:
1. who are electrical engineers or the equivalents and have already familiarized themselves with the
proper use and danger of the product, or
2. who are electrical engineers or the equivalents and have alreadybeen trained bythe above-mentioned
people, or
3. who work under the supervision of the above-mentioned people.
If people other than those listed above install, wire, or operate the product,it may cause electricshock,
burnout, or injury.
◆Do not open or remove the case or panel of the product.
Do not disassemble, repair, or modify the product by yourself. High-voltage is applied to the inside of it.
Otherwise, it may cause electric shock, fire, or malfunction.
Moreover, if you do it, the safety and functions are not covered with the warranty.
◆The product does not suit to install and use in places where children may be present.
The product is designed to be installed in places such as factories or laboratories. Do not install and use it
where children may be present.
◆Make sure to ground it.
When the product has a protection ground terminal or GND terminal, make sure to ground it.
When the AC line input of it is an inlet type, connect the attached power cable or a power cable suitable
for your area to an outlet with the ground. Otherwise, it may result in electric shock or fire.
◆Regarding power cable
When a power cable is enclosed or attached to the product, do not use it for other products.
When no power cable is enclosed with the product, prepare the power cable suitable for the usage
environment and area by yourself.
◆Regarding the connection of power cable
Electrical engineers or the equivalents who have already been familiarized with the proper use and danger
of the product should connect the power cable to the AC input by referring to the instruction manual.
Regarding products that have acquired the safety standard, check the page describing the over-voltage
categories too.
◆Do not process or damage power cables
It may result in electric shock or fire.
◆Regarding the input voltage
Check the page describing the input terminals and input voltage in the instruction manual.
Do not provide any voltage out of the specifications.

◆Regarding the fuse
The product builds in a protective fuse. In the case where a fuse holder is arranged outside of the product,
you can replace it by yourself. Refer to the instruction manual to replace it.
In the case where a fuse holder is not arranged outside of the product, you cannot replace it by yourself.
In this case, do not open the case or panel of the product and contact us.
◆The product is designed for indoor use.
Use the product indoors only, not outdoors. Even indoors, do not use it if there is a possibility of water
leakage, flooding, or snow covering.
◆Regarding operating temperature and humidity
Use the product within the range of the specifications describing in the instruction manual.
Do not use it in a place where the ambient temperature exceeds the specified range or a closed place.
◆Do not install the product in places where condensation may occur.
Otherwise, insulation deteriorates and it may cause electric shock, fire, or malfunction.
◆Do not place anything on top of the product.
Otherwise, they may fall or tumble from it.
◆Do not put anything into the product.
Do not put foreign objects such as metal or liquid into the product through the air inlets, air outlets, or other
openings. Otherwise, it may result in electric shock, fire, or malfunction.
◆Operate the product with the right hand.
Use only your right hand to operate the product and keep your left hand away from it, which can reduce
the risk of electric current flowing through the left hand to the vital organs of the body in the event of an
electric shock.
◆Do not touch the wiring/load connected to the output and any terminals/connectors during the
operation or just after turning output off.
Very high-voltage is on the terminals and connectors during the operation and even just after the output is
turned off. Touching them may result in serious injury or death by electric shock.
The terminals here mean all terminals like input and output terminals and terminals for communications
and remote controls.
◆Turn off the product before touching the wiring/load connected to the product and any
terminals/connectors on the product and cut it off from the AC input.
Before touching the terminals/connectors and wiring/load, turn off the product and unplug the AC input
cable from the outlet or turn off the AC input breaker. Then, check there is no voltage remained using a
tester.
Since the output and sense terminals are connected to condensers in it, there is high-voltage remained on
them even just after it is turned off.
In order toavoid electric shock, ground the terminals to discharge using a short-circuit groundingapparatus
and check the voltage again.
The terminals here mean all terminals like input and output terminals and terminals for communications
and remote controls.

◆Level the product out to use for good heat dissipation.
Do not install the product upside down or sideways. If not, the inner heat dissipation will be insufficient.
It may result in smoke or fire due to components deterioration.
◆Do not install the product in a place where cold air directly blows to it.
It may result in electric leakage or burnout due to condensation.
◆Do not install the product in a place where it is exposed to corrosive gases or liquids.
It may result in smoke or burnout due to components deterioration.
◆Do not store or use the product in a place where conductive dust, such as iron powder, can enter
through the air inlet/outlet.
Doing so may cause a short circuit, resulting in electric leakage, burnout, fire, or malfunction.
◆Do not install the product in a dusty place.
Accumulating dust in the air inlet will make hard to cool it down it, it may result in malfunction.
In that case, remove dust immediately.
◆Do not block the air inlet and outlet.
Secure 30 cm space at least around the openings.
If they are blocked, the product cannot show the rated performance due to the internal temperature
increase. Moreover, components deteriorate and it may result in smoke or fire.
◆Remove wiring to and from the product when work like welding near it is done.
◆Do not wipe the equipment with a dust cloth wet with chemicals (thinner or the like) or water.
Otherwise, it may result in an electric shock, electric leakage, or burnout due to water getting inside.
◆Regarding fan replacement
When products equip a fan, it has a lifetime. It will be worn out and deteriorated with the time passed and
its operation may become unstable. Also, its lifetime greatly varies depending on the usage environment
such as temperature, humidity, dust. It requires to be replaced at regular intervals to extend the lifetime.
For the replacement, contact us.
(It requires a replacement charge separately. Do not replace it by yourself, as there is a risk of electric
shock.)
◆Do not store or use the product in a place where conductive foreign matter like iron powder can be
collected into the air inlet and outlet.
It may cause a short circuit, resulting in electric leakage, burning fire, or malfunction.

1 Outline and Features
1-1 Outline
The DRK series is a programmable AC power source featuring well-regulated and high performance, and
it provides high power 4kVA in a 4U 19-inch rackmount model.
We have succeeded in making the conventional large and heavy AC power source units
smaller/lighter/more highly efficient with the switching method.
They are optimal for electronics development, inspection processes in manufacturing lines, etc. due to
their small-scale design which allows the units to be installed at any places and the secure operability
with basic functions pursued.
1-2 Features
•Soft remote sensing (automatic gain control)
The series can calculate and automatically compensates for the difference between the voltage drop at
the load end and the output set voltage due to resistance in the output line.
•Cutoff function that protects the load and Limit function that withstands inrush current
As for product operation of equipment with AC, what is necessary is diversity where it must stop
immediately as the abnormal current flows or to continuously perform in a small overcurrent.
DRK series can configure its operation depending on the needs.
•Sophisticated and Simple operability
Often-used functions and output settings can be quickly recalled, increasing work efficiency.
•If you repeat several test patterns (e.g. 90V →100V →110V, 50/60Hz), use the memory function that
can greatly reduce the inspection time.
•Universal type outlet on the front panel
It allows connection of plugs from various countries and output up to 250V.
•Lightweight, Compact, and Space-saving
As the unit is much smaller than predecessor AC power supply models, it is ideal for applications in
factories and laboratories.
•External control as standard with various options
The external control is available as the standard function. The product can be used for automated
production line since it can operate in remote control of the output ON/OFF, voltage, frequency, and
range.
In addition, with the option, the external control is available via LAN/USB/RS-232C/RS-485/GPIB.
•Various outputs: Three-phase output, single-phase three-wire output, and Master/Slave configuration
By installing the option, the three-phase output, single-phase three-wire output, and Master/Slave
configuration are available.

3-1 General
After unpacking, check the product for all the following accessories. If something different is included,
something is missing or damaged, please contact our sales representatives.

3-2 Initial Inspection
Before operation, check the product for any abnormality.
Check the front panel, rear panel, top surface, and chassis for obvious impact such as scratches, dents,
or other evidence of impact from transport or handling. If any abnormality is found, contact the carrier and
us.
3-3 Handling Precautions
In AC power source systems, equipment could suffer from failures due to high voltage.
When using GPIB, connect only the equipment and cables needed to operate the
system.
Although the product has protections against instantaneous short circuits, avoid
any operation where there are repetitive short circuits that lead to discharge.
All possible measures have been taken against noise, however if you find hang up
or unintended voltage output, turn off the power supply once to reset the bus, and
then, send the command again from the controller.
Before changing the system, make sure that all the devices making up
the system are turned off.

Install and use the unit in a horizontal orientation.
Be sure to maintain a space of at least 30 cm at the front and rear of the power

Secure an intake port and exhaust port of the external cabinet the same size as
the opening part of the power supply unit.
Take measures such as equipping a forced exhaust device to avoid installation in
a sealed cabinet and exhaust heat which returns from the exhaust port to the
intake port
Promptly remove any dust that accumulates in the intake port.
If dust accumulates in the intake port, it will interfere with the cooling of the unit
and lead to breakdown.
Never place objects on top of the power supply unit.
Avoid using the unit in locations that are subject to dust and corrosive gas.
Do not install the power supply in locations that are prone to condensation.
Do not allow liquids or metals to get inside the power supply via ventilation holes
or other openings. Doing so could lead to breakdown, electric shock, or fire.
Do not store or use the product in a place where conductive dust, such as iron
powder, can enter through the air inlet/outlet.
Doing so may cause a short circuit, resulting in electric leakage, burnout, fire, or
malfunction.
Do not install the power supply in a sealed cabinet or similar enclosure, and
provide ventilation to ensure that exhaust heat from the exhaust port does not
return through the intake port.
Do not remove the four plastic feetof the power supply unit to secure the unit using
the screw holes. Because the screw holes are weak to secure the unit and
mounting screws may come into contact with the internal board.
Avoid supporting the unit only by the installation holes on the front panel. The
product is designed for installation in a rack. Use guides to support the chassis
when mounting the power supply.
Do not use the handle to hold the whole weight of the power supply. The front
panel handle is strictly for the purpose of changing the direction or pull out the
power supply from the rack.
If welding or similar work will be performed near the power supply, first disconnect
all connection wires from the power supply.
Do not impact to protrusions on the front panel when you move the product. Never
take impact to the encoder especially because it causes degrading the service life
significantly.
3-4-2 Ventilation
The front panel and rear panel of the power supply unit have a cooling air intake
port and exhaust port respectively. Secure space for the ports as much as possible
to use the unit in a place with good ventilation.

Safety Precautions
Do not connect anything to NC pins. If connected, the unit may be damaged.
Do not make short between PIN 5 and PIN10 on the user side as they are connected
inside the power supply unit.
Install the supplied D sub connector cover when in use.
Attach the supplied Dsub-25pin male connector and the remote connector cover to
TB1 to avoid touching the remote connector REMOTE(TB1).

3-6-1 Input voltage/current

Make sure that when all the devices are connected and working, the input voltage is
within the rated input voltage range at the maximum output.
Check the input voltage indication on the rear panel of the min unit to input the correct
voltage.
If an incorrect voltage is input, the unit could suffer damages.
3-6-2 Connecting AC input cable
Screw the AC input cable terminals to L, N and of the input terminal block of the rear panel.
GND must be grounded.
Install the supplied cover for safety.
Do not connect AC input to the output terminals.

3-6-4 Electric load with a lot of noise
Huge noise generated from electric load may have an influence on the control.
Inserting a noise-cut transformer between the power supply and the load may reduce the influence.
3-6-5 Load regenerated in the AC line
With the load with regenerative function, the product cannot be used to simulate a system.
(Solar power inverter, Fuel cell, etc.)
It has no function to sink reverse power flow and may damage the power supply.
For such purpose, linear amplifier series (DOP, DOPF, etc.) by Matsusada are highly recommended
3-6-6 Connecting to capacitive/inductive loads in DC mode
When a capacitor, battery and other capacitive loads are connected in the DC mode, connect a
diode to prevent reverse flow of current from the loads as the figure below.
In addition, when an inductor and other inductive loads are connected, connect a freewheel diode to
absorb counter electromotive force which occurs on output OFF as the figure below.
Be sure to install the terminal block cover to
prevent electrical shocks and accidents.
