This document is the communication specification when the CC-Link option is used for the
R4G/R4GT SERIES.
Refer to the instruction manuals shown below for the basic operation and the like of R4G.

Installation of the CC-Link and construction the network
(1) How to install the CC-Link
Prepare the connector and cable that are listed in the specification of the CC-Link
(section 2-1).
Wiring of the connector shall be as follows.
CC-Link cable side
(1) DA (Positive RS485 RxD/TxD)
(2) DB (Negative RS485 RxD/TxD)
(3) DG (Signal Ground)
(4) SLD (Cable Shield)
(2) Constructing the network
The R4G/R4GT SERIES can be used as the slave station (remote device station).
In the CC-Link, the station number of the master station is fixed at 0 (zero), and the
slave stations are connected in the multi-drop configuration.
In order to mitigate signal reflection and prevent signal disturbance, install the
terminating resistor at the end of the network.
For other details, refer to the “CC-Link Cable Wiring Manual” (issued by CLPA).

Setting the CC-Link
(1) Setting the station number
Assign the station number of your choice from the front panel of the R4G/R4GT
SERIES (section 3-1-2).
(2) Setting the baudrate
Assign the speed of your choice from the front panel of the R4G/R4GT SERIES
(section 3-1-3).
The speed can be selected from what is listed in the specification of the CC-Link
(section 2-1).

How to set the CC-Link mode for R4G/R4GT
The following settings are necessary to use R4G/R4GT in CC-Link mode.
[Procedure]
Set the mode to the CC-Link mode
Display the menu screen by Power ON the device while pressing the SET switch on the front
panel.
Rotate the VOLTAGE dial, and change the screen to the CC-Link setting screen.
Rotate the CURRENT dial, and turn ON the CC-Link mode.

Setting the station number
Rotate the VOLTAGE dial, and change the screen to the STAT setting screen.
Rotate the CURRENT dial, and select the station number (1-63).

Setting the baudrate
Rotate the VOLTAGE dial, and change the screen to the BPS setting screen.
Rotate the CURRENT dial, and select the baudrate (0.156/0.625/2.5/5/10 Mbps).
Applying the settings
1. Confirm that the screen does not display “dEF,” and long press the LOCK button (exit the
menu screen).
→ In this case, if the screen display is “dEF,” the settings will return to default settings.
2. Switch ON the power once again.
→ The CC-Link settings will be applied after the device is re-started.

Confirming start-up of the CC-Link for R4G/R4GT
After setting the CC-Link, check the front panel of R4G/R4GT after power ON.
REMOTE lamp is ON: The device is operating normally under the CC-Link network.
REMOTE lamp blinks: There is an error such as detached cable, wrong station number or
speed, etc.
REMOTE lamp is OFF: The device is not operating under the CC-Link mode (check section
3-1).
Communicating with the master
After confirming establishment of the CC-Link, set the initial setting completion flag (RY(n+3)8) in
the master.
If the remote READY status (RX(n+3)B) in R4G/R4GT is at “Hi,” the setting is done.
[Precautions]
The setting will be applied to all bit area at the timing when the initial setting completion is
established in the master.
For example, when the operation command bit RY(n+1)7 is set at enabled (1), and when the
operation command bit RY(n+1)6 is set at output (1), output will begin at the timing when the
initial setting completion RY(n+3)8 is set at complete (1).
When setting the initial setting completion RY(n+3)8 at complete (1), do so after carefully
confirming that the value status of other areas is at the intended value.

Controlling with the CC-Link [usage example]
Using the MELSEC CC-Link Ver.2 Controller board / DeviceMonitor tool, and setting the voltage
at 12.34 V and the current at 1 A in R4G18-5, the procedure to set the output ON is described
below.
The procedure shown below is when R4G/R4GT is used under station number 1.
Starting up R4G/R4GT
Switch ON the power of R4G/R4GT after setting it in CC-Link mode, and connect the CC-Link
cable.
(1) When start-up under the CC-Link is complete, RX38 will turn ON (1).

Completing the initial setting
Enter the value in the bit area (RY).
(1) Set all RY bit area at 0 (zero).
(2) Set the RY38 bit for initial setting completion at 1.
Confirm the value in the bit area (RX).
(1) When the initial setting is complete, RX38 will turn OFF (0), and RX3B will turn ON (1).
(2) Since R4G/R4GT is operating in CC mode, RX11 is at CC (1).
(3) Since R4G/R4GT is remotely operated, RX17 is at Remote (1).

Setting the voltage / current
Enter the value for data classification 1 in the “word area” (RWw).
(1) Enter the voltage set value, 1234 (12.34 V), in RWw0.
Enter the current set value, 1000 (1 A), in RWw1.
Enter the ON delay time set value, 0 (zero), in RWw2.
Enter the OFF delay time set value, 0 (zero), in RWw3.
Enter the overvoltage protection value, 1800 (18 V), in RWw4.
Enter the overcurrent protection value, 5000 (5 A), in RWw5.
Enter 0 (zero) into RWw6 and RWw7, since they are not used.
Enter the value in the bit area (RY).
(1) Set the data classification (RY08 through RY0B) in the “word area” at data 1 (0000).
(2) Set the command data RY00 and RY01 at write setting data (01).
(3) Set the command execution RY04 at start command (1).

Confirm the value in the bit area (RX).
(1) After the command execution is complete, the command response RX04 will change to
command processing complete (1).
(2) To write the setting data for the command that had its processing completed, RX00 and RX01
will change to write setting data (01).
(3) Since data classification will be 1 for the data classification that had its processing completed,
RX08 through RX0B will be at data classification 1 (0000).
Enter the value in the bit area (RY).
(1) When the command response RX04 becomes command processing completed9+ (1), set the
command execution RY04 at stopped (0).

Turning the output ON
Enter the value in the bit area (RY).
(1) Enter operation command enabled (1) for operation command selection RY17.
(2) Enter output (1) for operation command RY16.
Confirm the value in the bit area (RX).
(1) When R4G/R4GT is in the output status, RX10 will be at output in process (1).

Confirming the monitor value
Confirm the value for data classification 1 in the “word area” (RWr).
Enter the value in the bit area (RY).
(1) Set the data classification (RY08 through RY0B) in the “word area” at data 1 (0000).
(2) Set the command data RY00 and RY01 at read setting data (11).
(3) Set the command execution RY04 at start command (1).
Confirm the value in the bit area (RX).
(1) After the command execution is complete, the command response RX04 will change to
command processing complete (1).
(2) To read the setting data for the command that had its processing completed, RX00 and RX01
will be at read setting data (11).
(3) Since data classification will be 1 for the data classification that had its processing completed,
RX08 through RX0B will be at data classification 1 (0000).

Confirm data classification 1 in the “word area” (RWr).
(1) The output voltage value can be confirmed in RWr0.
The output current value can be confirmed in RWr1.
The voltage set value can be confirmed in RWr2.
The current set value can be confirmed in RWr3.
The overvoltage protection set value can be confirmed in RWr4.
The overcurrent protection set value can be confirmed in RWr5.
RWr6 is not used.
The error code can be confirmed in RWr7.
