◆Understand the risks.
The Product generates high-voltage and high-energy.
The product is designed for electrical engineers or the equivalents who install, wire, and operate it.
Read the instruction manual thoroughly before use and familiarize yourself with the proper use and
danger of the product.
◆Make sure to allow only specific people to handle the product.
Make sure to allow only the following people to handle the product:
1. who are electrical engineers or the equivalents and have already familiarized themselves with the
proper use and danger of the product, or
2. who are electrical engineers or the equivalents and have already been trained by the
above-mentioned people, or
3. who work under the supervision of the above-mentioned people.
If people other than those listed above install, wire, or operate the product, it may cause electric
shock, burnout, or injury.
◆Do not open or remove the case or panel of the product.
Do not disassemble, repair, or modify the product by yourself. High-voltage is applied to the inside of it.
Otherwise, it may cause electric shock, fire, or malfunction.
Moreover, if you do it, the safety and functions are not covered with the warranty.
◆The product does not suit to install and use in places where children may be present.
The product is designed to be installed in places such as factories or laboratories. Do not install and use it
where children may be present.
◆Make sure to ground it.
When the product has a protection ground terminal or GND terminal, make sure to ground it.
When the AC line input of it is an inlet type, connect the attached power cable or a power cable suitable for
your area to an outlet with the ground. Otherwise, it may result in electric shock or fire.
◆Regarding power cable
When a power cable is enclosed or attached to the product, do not use it for other products.
When no power cable is enclosed with the product, prepare the power cable suitable for the usage
environment and area by yourself.
◆Regarding the connection of power cable
Electrical engineers or the equivalents who have already been familiarized with the proper use and danger
of the product should connect the power cable to the AC input by referring to the instruction manual.
Regarding products that have acquired the safety standard, check the page describing the over-voltage
categories too.
◆Do not process or damage power cables
It may result in electric shock or fire.
◆Regarding the input voltage
Check the page describing the input terminals and input voltage in the instruction manual.
Do not provide any voltage out of the specifications.

◆Regarding the fuse
The product builds in a protective fuse. In the case where a fuse holder is arranged outside of the product,
you can replace it by yourself. Refer to the instruction manual to replace it.
In the case where a fuse holder is not arranged outside of the product, you cannot replace it by yourself.
In this case, do not open the case or panel of the product and contact us.
◆The product is designed for indoor use.
Use the product indoors only, not outdoors. Even indoors, do not use it if there is a possibility of water
leakage, flooding, or snow covering.
◆Regarding operating temperature and humidity
Use the product within the range of the specifications describing in the instruction manual.
Do not use it in a place where the ambient temperature exceeds the specified range or a closed place.
◆Do not install the product in places where condensation may occur.
Otherwise, insulation deteriorates and it may cause electric shock, fire, or malfunction.
◆Do not place anything on top of the product.
Otherwise, they may fall or tumble from it.
◆Do not put anything into the product.
Do not put foreign objects such as metal or liquid into the product through the air inlets, air outlets, or other
openings. Otherwise, it may result in electric shock, fire, or malfunction.
◆Operate the product with the right hand.
Use only your right hand to operate the product and keep your left hand away from it, which can reduce
the risk of electric current flowing through the left hand to the vital organs of the body in the event of an
electric shock.
◆Do not touch the wiring/load connected to the output and any terminals/connectors during the
operation or just after turning output off.
Very high-voltage is on the terminals and connectors during the operation and even just after the output is
turned off. Touching them may result in serious injury or death by electric shock.
The terminals here mean all terminals like input and output terminals and terminals for communications
and remote controls.
◆Turn off the product before touching the wiring/load connected to the product and any
terminals/connectors on the product and cut it off from the AC input.
Before touching the terminals/connectors and wiring/load, turn off the product and unplug the AC input
cable from the outlet or turn off the AC input breaker. Then, check there is no voltage remained using a
tester.
Since the output and sense terminals are connected to condensers in it, there is high-voltage remained on
them even just after it is turned off.
In order to avoid electric shock, ground the terminals to discharge using a short-circuit grounding
apparatus and check the voltage again.
The terminals here mean all terminals like input and output terminals and terminals for communications
and remote controls.

◆Level the product out to use for good heat dissipation.
Do not install the product upside down or sideways. If not, the inner heat dissipation will be insufficient.
It may result in smoke or fire due to components deterioration.
◆Do not install the product in a place where cold air directly blows to it.
It may result in electric leakage or burnout due to condensation.
◆Do not install the product in a place where it is exposed to corrosive gases or liquids.
It may result in smoke or burnout due to components deterioration.
◆Do not install the product in a dusty place.
Accumulating dust in the air inlet will make hard to cool it down it, it may result in malfunction.
In that case, remove dust immediately.
◆Do not block the air inlet and outlet.
Secure 30 cm space at least around the openings.
If they are blocked, the product cannot show the rated performance due to the internal temperature
increase. Moreover, components deteriorate and it may result in smoke or fire.
◆Remove wiring to and from the product when work like welding near it is done.
◆Do not wipe the equipment with a dust cloth wet with chemicals (thinner or the like) or water.
Otherwise, it may result in an electric shock, electric leakage, or burnout due to water getting inside.
◆Regarding fan replacement
When products equip a fan, it has a lifetime. It will be worn out and deteriorated with the time passed and
its operation may become unstable. Also, its lifetime greatly varies depending on the usage environment
such as temperature, humidity, dust. It requires to be replaced at regular intervals to extend the lifetime.
For the replacement, contact us.
(It requires a replacement charge separately. Do not replace it by yourself, as there is a risk of electric
shock.)

Thank you very much for your purchase of Fast Response Bipolar Power supply.
We have taken all possible measures to control the quality of our products.
For the best performance and safe use, handle the product correctly according to this manual.
We have carefully prepared this manual, but if you find any doubtful or unclear points, errors, or any
omission, please contact us.
Unpacking
After unpacking the box, check the following accessories are enclosed with the unit body.
If the accessories are different, missing, or broken, please contact us immediately.

AC input cord (for 100Vac input)

*For use in 200V, prepare another dedicated cable.
Initial Conditions
Place and use the unit horizontally.
Do not place anything on top of the unit.
The top and side of the power supply unit are equipped with air intake and exhaust ports for cooling.
Provide enough space around these ports to ensure sufficient air circulation.
Avoid using this unit in locations that are subject to dust and corrosive gas.
This product applies to “High-frequency use equipment”.
(This information is for Japan only.)
DOKF series applies to "high-frequency use equipment" that requires a license for use from the Minister of
Internal Affairs and Communications in accordance with the provisions of Article 100 of the Radio Law.
(This is required when the frequency is 10 kHz and the output power is over 50 W.)
For details on the application for permission, please contact the competent telecommunications bureau.

Precautions for Use
WHEN TOUCHING LOAD AFTER TURNING OFF HIGH VOLTAGE
1. Make the setting of an output voltage to zero (0).
2. Turn off the POWER ON/OFF switch.
3. Ground the output for more than 10 seconds, check and confirm that the voltage is zero with
another high voltage meter.
It is especially dangerous that the load is capacitiveor a long cableis used.
4. Make it a rule to touch load with the right hand.
GROUNDING
Use an outlet with the ground terminal.
Improper grounding may result in electric shock.
Troubleshooting
If the output voltage does not meet the present value,
1. Make sure that the input voltage is within the specification.
・Input voltage 100Vac (or 200%), AC±10%, 50/60Hz single phase
2. Confirm that the connections are all correct.
Do not carry the unit by the handles on the front panel.
It may result in damage to the unit and/or injury.

Characteristics of Bipolar Power supplies
Captive load
A capacitive load of 100pF or more may cause oscillation.
In this case, insert a power resistor of 1Ω (at 10μF) to 1kΩ (at 100pF) in series with the output to
suppress the oscillation
Be aware that the above series resistance and capacitance will limit the frequency band.
If it is not possible to insert a power resistor due to voltage drop or other problems, the same effect
may be obtained by inserting a coil instead of a power resistor. However, the frequency response
will be poor, so insert an appropriate one while observing the output waveform.
Inductive load
In CC mode, some inductive loads may resonate depending on their inductance value.
In such a case, connect a C-R series circuit between the output terminals to prevent resonance from
occurring.
Also, even if the sine wave output resonates, the output may simply appear to be decreasing.
If there is any abnormality, connect a C-R series circuit after checking the output waveform with
square wave output.

Response speed
If an accurate output waveform is required, select a bipolar power supply unit with a frequency band
that is sufficiently wider than the operating frequency.
Generally, using a sine wave requires three to five times wider frequency band and using a square
wave 10 times or wider frequency band. If the frequency band is narrow, the input/output phase
difference will become wider as well as the output amplitude will decrease.
In this case, operate the unit while monitoring the output waveform.

Rise time
Step time: The responsiveness can be indicated by a rise time (as shown in Fig.2). The rise time of a
bipolar amplifier at a response speed of
(= frequency bandwidth) fc [Hz] is generally acquired by “tr = approx. 0.35/fc”

Overview
This product is a high-speed bipolar amplifier that is capable of both positive and negative outputs in CV
mode or in CC mode.
Since it supports four-quadrant output, both source and sink currents can be provided.
Simple controls on the front panel allow you to set sine or square wave output, frequency, and CV or CC
mode. Moreover, it also has a sequence function that allows you to program any waveform to be output.
Connecting the Load
Use electric wire with sufficient thickness, as short as possible.
Use PVC wire with 105-degree heat resistance that withstands working voltage.
Wiring to load must be considered in the current capacity and the length limitation because the
sensing function can compensate only voltage drop up to 0.5V per wire.
Please refer to the following table to determine the thickness of the wire.

Remote Sensing (Available in CV Mode, DC Output)
・Using the remote sense function, the detection point of the load voltage can be set to the load or
other parts instead of the output terminal of the unit. The loss of the lead is corrected up to 0.5V one
way.
・Use twisted or shielded wire as the lead for sensing.
・The sense lines are provided at the sense connector on the rear panel.
・Connect the + Sense and - Sense as shown below. Connect the load in the same way.
・Ground the shield at one point: power supply or load.
・Turn the power supply OFF.
・Set the remote sense to ON.
・Remote sensing is unavailable for AC output such as sine wave or square wave.
・Because of the state of the load, output line, or sense line, the output may oscillate and the
remote sensing cannot be used.

This section describes the outline regarding the protection functions..
For details on the settings, refer to [3-9 Operation for Protection Function].
Overvoltage Protection (OVP)
There are two protection functions: voltage limit and output cutoff.
Select either one.
The voltage limit protection can be set to both positive and negative polarities separately.
The output cutoff protection cuts off the output by comparing a value measured in effective value with
the cutoff setting value.
Although the response time of the output cutoff protection is several hundred milliseconds, another
high-speed voltage limit protection works at 110% of the rating to protect the unit and load.

0.1 to +rated value x 110% for positive
-0.1 to -rated value x 110% for negative

Overcurrent Protection (OCP)
The product is also available in overcurrent protection by selecting current limit or output cutoff
function.

0.1 to +rated value x 110% for positive
-0.1 to -rated value x 110% for negative

0.1V
[Output cutoff protection]
Setting range:
0.1 to rated value x 110%
The current limit protection has two types: one limits high-speed pulse current and another
steady-state current. The current limit protection is for the steady-state current and its response rate
is approx. one millisecond (the same as the voltage limit protection).
Apart from this, to protect the amplifier elements, a fast-response circuit is equipped to limit the pulse
current during square waves and capacitive loads.

However, the limit value is approx. two times higher than
the rated current. When such a condition is repeated, that
means two times the rated current always flows, it can
result in malfunction or deterioration of the unit.
If the unit is used in this way, be sure to lower the
frequency or put a resistor in series between the unit and
load.
Sink Power Protection
This protection function measures the power flowed into the unit to cut it off.
It can prevent the discharge of batteries and other components. Although it can prevent the power
consumed in the unit, it does not prevent the power consumed in the load.
The protection works by comparing the effective power value calculated by multiplying the measured
effective voltage value by the effective current value with the set suction power protection value.

Output Range
Although this unit is the amplifier capable of the four-quadrant operation, derate the output according to
the figure below when operating in DC mode and low frequency.
For your safety, be sure to ground the GROUND terminal.
Avoid continuous use at a high frequency that would reduce the output amplitude of this unit.
It may increase the internal loss of the unit and lead to failure.
