3-2-3 Termination Resistor (for -LRs4 option)
A termination resistor for RS-485 is available by shorting between pin (4) and pin (8) of the
communication option connector. When they are not shorted, there is no termination resistor.
Set the termination resistor if necessary.
Example of termination resistor setting:
Set the termination resistor to the first and end connection devices of the RS-485 connection.
Do not set it to any other devices.

3-3 Connection Condition for Communication Option Connector
In order to connect the connection option connector, use the following connector supplied.
Communication option connector: DFMC 1,5/4-ST-3,5-1790124 for printed circuit board produced by
PHOENIX CONTACT
In order to connect the communication option connector, use a cable compatible with the following
terminal connection standards.
Input cable : AWG24 to 16
Stripping length: 10mm
3-4 Setting Unit Number
It is set to "0" at the factory shipment.
The unit number is changeable with a command.
Although it can be selected from 0 to 31, make sure not to set the same number as other units.

It is controlled over RS-232C/RS-485.
Performing the following steps will output the voltage from the power supply units.
Never connect any "load" to the output until the "operation check" ends.
（1）Connect the communication cable to the unit.
Connect the unit to a RS-232C/RS-485 controller such as a PC.
（2）Power up the unit.
Connect the input to the unit and turn on the power.
（3）Set the unit number.
Transmit "#AL UNIT 0" from the RS-232C/RS-485 controller.
If it is in a default state, this operation is unnecessary because the unit number is set to "0".
（4）Enable remote control.
Transmit “#0 REN” from the RS-232C/RS-485 controller.
（5）Set an output voltage value.
Transmit “#0 VSET xｘｘ” from the RS-232C/RS-485 controller.
About the parameter "xxx", refer to [5-6 Command Descriptions].
（6）Turn on the output.
Transmit “#0 OUT ON” from the RS-232C/RS-485 controller.
The set voltage is output. Be careful!
（7）Turn off the output.
Transmit “#0 OUT OFF” from the RS-232C/RS-485 controller.
（8）End the operation.
Turn off the input for the unit.

5-1 Command Format
(e.g.) To set the output voltage of Unit 1 to 1kV, write the following.
#1 VSET 1.0 ○○
(2) Parameter
(3) Command
(1) Delimiter
(4) Unit No.
(1) Enter the delimiter.
RS-232C/RS-485 CR (0DH)
(2) There are commands requiring parameters.
(3) Commands inputted incorrectly are ignored.
(4) Set the unit number.
RS-232C/RS-485 #0 to #31 or #AL
A command with 20 or more characters including the delimiter is not accepted.
If lots of setting commands are transmitted in series, commands may not be accepted
due to the receive buffer overflowed.
In that case, add a wait between each command.
5-2 Multi-Command
When "AL" is specified as a unit number, the command is applied to all connected units.
Format ex.: 1) #AL VSET 1 Set the output voltage of all units to 1kV.
2) #AL OUT ON Turn on the output of all units.
Remarks: Commands supporting Multi-command are VSET, OUT, REN, GTL, UNIT, and POL.

5-3 Command Response String
A response character string and the following delimiter are returned when a read command is transmitted.
RS-232C/RS-485 CR (0DH)
When a command requesting no response is transmitted, nothing is returned.
Reception example of "STS" command: "#1 CO LO"
5-4 Characters used for Commands
Do not use characters (codes) in the grayed part in the ASCII code table.
Use LF (0AH) and CR (0DH) only as a delimiter.
It is case-insensitive in alphabets used in commands.
Use a space (20H) as a separator between "unit number", "command", and "parameter”in a
command string.
