RF EXPOSURE AND ELECTRICAL SAFETY
COMPLIANCE
The use of this devi e in any other type of host onfiguration may not omply with the
RF exposure requirements and should be avoided. During operation, a 20 m
separation distan e should be maintained between the antenna, whether extended or
retra ted, and the user’s/bystander’s body (ex luding hands, wrists, feet, and ankles) to
ensure RF exposure omplian e. The modem is not designed for, nor intended to be,
used in appli ations within 20 m (8 in hes) of the body of the user. Continued
omplian e of the equipment relies upon it being used with an AS/NZS 60950.1
approved SELV power supply.
Caution
Change or modifi ation without the express onsent of Maxon Australia Pty. Ltd. voids
the user’s authority to use the equipment. These limits are designed to provide
reasonable prote tion against harmful interferen e in an appropriate installation. The
modem is a transmitting devi e with similar output power to a mobile phone. This
equipment generates, uses, and an radiate radio frequen y energy and, if not used in
a ordan e with instru tions, an ause harmful radiation to radio ommuni ation.
The modem is approved for use with the antenna: ANT-FME. Unauthorized antennas,
modifi ations, or atta hments ould impair all quality, damage the devi e, or result in
violation of RF exposure regulations.
However, there is no guarantee that interferen e will not o ur in a parti ular
installation. If the equipment does ause harmful interferen e in radio and television
re eption, whi h an be determined by turning the equipment on and off, the user is
en ouraged to try to orre t the interferen e by one or more of the following
measures:
Re-orient or relo ate the re eiving radio or TV antenna
In rease the separation distan e between the equipment and the re eiver

Genera Safety
RF Interference Issues: Avoid possible radio frequen y (RF) interferen e by arefully
following safety guidelines below:
Swit h OFF the Modem when in an air raft. The use of ellular telephones in
air raft is illegal. It may endanger the operation of the air raft and/or disrupt the
ellular network. Failure to observe this instru tion may lead to suspension or
denial of ellular servi es to the offender, legal a tion, or both.
Swit h OFF the Modem in the vi inity of gasoline or diesel fuel pumps or before
filling a vehi le with fuel.
Swit h OFF the Modem in hospitals and any other pla e where medi al
equipment may be in use.
Respe t restri tions on the use of radio equipment in fuel depots, hemi al
plants, or in areas of blasting operations.
There may be a hazard asso iated with the operation of your Modem in the
vi inity of inadequately prote ted personal medi al devi es su h as hearing
aids and pa emakers. Please onsult the manufa turers of the medi al devi e
to determine if it is adequately prote ted.
Operation of the Modem in the vi inity of other ele troni equipment may
ause interferen e if the equipment is inadequately prote ted. Observe any
warning signs and manufa turers’ re ommendations.
The modem ontains sensitive ele troni ir uitry. Do not expose the modem to
any liquids, high temperatures or sho k. The modem is not waterproof. Please
keep it dry and store it in a ool, dry pla e.
Only use original a essories or a essories that are authorized by the
manufa turer. Using unauthorized a essories may affe t your modem’s

Vehic e Safety
Do not use the Modem while driving.
Respe t national regulations on the use of ellular telephones in vehi les. Road
safety always omes first.
If in orre tly installed in a vehi le, the operation of the Modem ould interfere
with the orre t fun tioning of vehi le ele troni s. To avoid su h problems, be
sure that the installation has been performed by qualified personnel.
Verifi ation of the prote tion of vehi le ele troni s should be part of the
installation.
Note: The user is autioned that hanges or modifi ations not expressly approved by
Maxon Australia ould void the warrantee.
Potentia y Unsafe Areas
Posted Faci ities: Turn off this devi e in any fa ility or area when posted noti es require
you to do so.
B asting Areas: Turn off your devi e where blasting is in progress. Observe restri tions
and follow any regulations or rules.
Potentia y Exp osive Atmospheres: Turn off your devi e when you are in any area with a
potentially explosive atmosphere. Obey all signs and instru tions. Sparks in su h areas
ould ause an explosion or fire, resulting in bodily injury or death.
Areas with a potentially explosive atmosphere are often but not always learly marked.
They in lude:
fuelling areas su h as gas or petrol stations, below de k on boats
transfer or storage fa ilities for fuel or hemi als
vehi les using liquefied petroleum gas, su h as propane or butane
areas when the air ontains hemi als or parti les su h as grain, dust or metal
powders
avoid using the modem in areas that emit ele tromagneti waves or en losed
metalli stru tures e.g. lifts.
any other area where you would normally be advised to turn off your engine
