SAFETY, GENERAL INFORMATION
The McKesson LUMEON®Center Post Colposcope described in this manual is designed to
be used by properly trained personnel in a suitably equipped practice/exam facility. For the
correct and safe use of this Colposcope it is essential that personnel follow generally
accepted safe procedures in addition to the safety precautions called for in this manual.
SAFETY
The McKesson LUMEON®Center Post Colposcope has been designed and tested in
accordance with EN 61010 Safety Requirements for Electrical Equipment for Measurement,
Control, and Laboratory Use. This Colposcope has been supplied in a safe condition. Read
the following before installing and using the instrument and its accessories.
ELECTRICAL
Before switching on the colposcope, make sure it is set to the voltage of the local power
supply. Using the wrong supply voltage can damage the instrument. The main plug shall be
inserted in a socket provided with a grounded protective earth contact.
WARNING
Any interruption of the protective conductor inside or outside the colposcope or
disconnection of the protective earth terminal has the potential to make the colposcope
unsafe to use.

Service and repair can be done by authorized personnel only.

SPECIFICATIONS
-Zoom head magnification is 1:6.7 (0.67X-4.5X).
-Binocular Head MFR#179 or Trinocular Head MFR#164.
-Eyepieces: WF20X/11.5mm.
-Objective Lens 0.3X
-Working distance: 298mm.
-Magnification: 3.9X-27X (with 0.3X objective and WF20X eyepiece).
-Inclination of binocular tube: 45°-90°adjustable.
-Adjustment of interpupillary: 55mm-75mm.

BASE AND THE CENTER-POST STAND ASSEMBLY
-Remove 5-leg base from the shipping box and put it on a flat surface.
-Install the lower post into the mounting hole of the base. Insert the bolt through the
bottom of the base in to threaded hole of the post. Tighten using the Allen wrench
provided. Make sure the bolt is securely tightened!
-Insert the bottom end of the upper post into the top hole of the lower post. There is a
supporting suspension spring installed in the hole of the lower post. Push the upper post
to set the proper height and tighten the black knob. Loose this knob to adjust the height
of the post as needed.
-The navigation handle should be attached to the socket on the side.
ZOOM HEAD INSTALLATION
-Insert the Colposcope head into the focusing mount
-Tighten the two locking screws
-Insert the eyepieces into the eyepiece tubes of the head and lock them in place with the
thumb screws.

FOCUSING TENSION ADJUSTMENT
The tension of the focusing knobs has been pre-set by factory technicians. With time tension
may become loose and needs to be tightened or you may feel it is too tight for your comfort
and loosen it up.
To increase the focusing tension, hold the left knob with your left hand; use your right hand
to turn the right knob clockwise. To check the tension, release your left hand and rotate the
knob with either or both hands in the same direction. If it is not tight enough, repeat the
above step until the proper tension is set.
To decrease the focusing tension, hold the left knob with your left hand; use your right hand
to turn the right knob counter clockwise. To check the tension, release your left hand and
rotate the knob with either or both hands in the same direction. If it is not loose enough,
repeat the above step until the proper tension is set.
INTERPUPILLARY DISTANCE ADJUSTMENT
Adjust the interpupillary distance (between 55mm to 75mm) until you get a single non-
overlapping image by moving the binocular eyepiece tubes

FOCUSING
Proper set-up of your McKesson LUMEON®Series Colposcope is essential to viewing in-focus
over the entire zoom range of 4X – 27X. Please follow these instructions for successful viewing.
-Plug-in and turn on the Colposcope illuminator, set the rheostat to it’s brightest setting
-Set the diopters for each eyepiece to “0”
-Set the focus knobs to the middle of their range of movement. Make sure you will have
room to zoom-in, and zoom-out using the large focusing knobs
-Set the “working distance” (distance from the Cervix to the front lens of the
Colposcope) to approximately 12”, or 300 mm
-Set the Zoom Control knob to it’s highest magnification setting (knob will indicate 4.5)
-Manually bring the instrument into focus by moving the Colposcope forward or back,
until you are in sharp, clear focus. If the instrument has locking casters, lock them in-
place
-Using the Zoom knobs, move the magnification all the way down to it’s lowest power
setting, making sure that you are in clear focus through the entire zoom range
-Now tweak the focus with each diopter, making sure you get into sharp focus with each
eye
-Using the zoom knobs, move the zoom all the way back up to its highest power again
(4.5), making sure you are in clear focus through the entire zoom range. If you are not in
clear focus, stop; and repeat steps 2-9 again
-Re-check focus through the entire zoom range, high – to low power; you are now ready
to begin using your Colposcope
MAINTENANCE AND CARE
-During both operation and storage, avoid airborne contaminants and moisture.
-Protect the instrument with a dust cover when it is not in use.
-Cleaning:
-Use filtered air and a camel hair brush to remove dust particles from the optical
surfaces.
-For routine cleaning, use a clean cotton swab and lens cleaner.
-For difficult spots or stains, use a lens cleaning solution designed for coated optics and
a clean lint-free cloth or lens tissue.
