2. General Information
This microprocessor based waterproof Lead Acid Battery Charger was especially developed for the outdoor use and for situations
where water may be present. It can be used to charge any lead-based battery –including GEL, AGM, WET and CA. With the 5-
step charging program the battery will be charged safely in a fully automatic mode. The output of the charger is electronically
protected against short circuit, reverse polarity connection. The charger is able to recover deep-discharged batteries.
Coloured LEDs on the top case are used to indicate charging status, errors, and selected mode of charging. Additional it includes
a power supply mode.
The chosen battery type could be changed on the control panel. The previously selected mode will be saved as standard setting.
The integrated metal hook allows fixing the charger in different ways.
3. Special Features
Convection cooled IP68 housing
Short circuit and reverse polarity protection
LED’s to indicate operation and charging status
5-Step charging technology with automatic restart
Selectable battery type (Gel, AGM, Wet or CA) and power supply mode
Battery temperature sensor
Automatic Shut-off at too high temperature
Indicating a non-chargeable (‘dead battery’) condition

5. Operation
ATTENTION:
Before operating please make sure that the power cable and the charger including the charging cable show no damages and
make sure that the mains supply complies with the specification.
Please consider the charging instructions from the battery manufacturer before charging.
If you want to connect the charger to the battery, please have a look to the following points:
Make sure that the charger is disconnected from the battery.
Connect the charger to mains supply.
Select a suitable battery type
Connect the charging cable to the battery.
Charge-profiles: After connecting charger to mains, the charger will signal the actual charge-profile by LEds on the top case.
To change the actual charge-profile press the “Press-button” for 5 seconds, the led turns from fast to slow flashing. Now you can
change the charge-profile by pressing the “Press-Button” shortly. To confirm a charge-profile you have to press the “Press-Button”
again for 5 seconds, the LED will change from flashing to constant shine.
Power supply mode: For power supply mode follow the same instructions for chose a charge-profile, the power supply mode is
selected when all charge-profiles LEDs are flashing.
The used charge-profile will be saved and automatically used after restart the charger.
6. Charging the battery
The charging process starts automatically and runs through the following five charging phases:
1. charging phase: recovery
This charging step is indicated by blinking alternately of the Charge- LED (4) and Full LED (5).
Explanation: The recovery phase starts automatically at deeply discharged batteries (2-6V at 12V batteries and 8-15V at 24V
batteries). During the recovery phase, the charger use controlled current pulses. That tries to push the battery to a voltage level,
where a charging process is possible. When battery voltage is still under 6V (12V battery) or under 15V (24 V battery) after 70
pulses, the charger will stop working because the battery maybe is damaged.
2. charging phase: soft start
This charging step is indicated by constant lighting of the Charge- LED (4).
Explanation: During the soft start phase, at a battery voltage between 6V and 12V for 12V batteries and between 15V and 24V
for 24V batteries, the charger reduces charging current to, in order to extend battery lifetime.
3. charging phase: constant current
This charging step is indicated by blinking slowly of the Charge- LED (4).
Explanation: During the constant current phase, the battery is being charged to 80% of its capacity.
4. charging phase: constant voltage
This charging step is indicated by blinking quickly of the Charge- LED (4).
Explanation: During the constant voltage phase the battery is being charged to its maximum capacity.
5. maintain phase: float charging
This charging step is indicated by constant lighting of the Full- LED (5).
Explanation: The battery has reached it’s full capacity. The charger can now be disconnected from the battery (see pt. II discon-
nection the charger) or remain at the battery in float-charge mode.
Disconnect the charger from the battery:
a) Disconnect the charger from the mains supply;
b) Disconnect the charger from the battery;
Charging advice:
If the charger is disconnected from the battery during the charging process, the charge current will be interrupted immediate-
ly. In that case please disconnect the charger from the mains supply. For starting a new charging process please comply with
the relevant points (see pt.5)
For increasing the lifetime of the battery please do not stop a charging process before the battery is fully charged. The
charger will automatically stop the charging process
