Limited Warranty
Medirol s.r.o. provides a two-year warranty against defects in materials and
workmanship for each product.
This warranty does not cover:
• standard wear and tear,
• incorrect assembly,
• incorrect subsequent maintenance,
• installation of parts or accessories not originally intended for (or not compatible with)
the product,
• damage or failure due to accident, misuse, abuse or negligence.
In case of any modifications to the frame or parts of the product, this warranty becomes
completely void.
The manufacturer will perform the warranty repair either by repairing the product or by
replacing it with another one.
The manufacturer does not bear the cost of transporting the defective product or part
thereof.
To make a warranty claim, the identification plate of the product and this confirmed
warranty card should be presented.

Thank you for purchasing the loading and fastening system VIVERA FASTENER F401.
To take full advantage of all the features of the product, please read the entire instruction
manual thoroughly and keep it available to all potential users.
This manual contains general instructions for using, operating and maintaining the
product. The instructions provided in this manual cannot cover all details, so the safe
and correct use of this product is entirely up to the user. Safety information is provided
as a service to the user. All other precautions taken by the user should be within the
applicable regulations. We recommend to carry out training about the correct use of the
product before using it in a specific situation.
No part of the manuals included with this product may be reproduced, copied,
distributed, stored in backup systems, or translated into any language in any form

Summary of Safety Warnings
WARNING
• The VIVERA FASTENER F401 loading and fastening system is intended only for
fastening the MEDIROL stretcher chassis or monoblock, with which the fastening
system is certified.
• Before commissioning, make sure that all components of the loading and fastening
system are working properly. If necessary, adjust the correct height of the chassis/
monoblock front pins.
• For transport in an ambulance without a chassis/monoblock, please always make
sure that all components of the loading system are in the locked position. Never
leave the linear guide rails or the sliding arm in the unsecured position. There is
a risk of serious injuries.
• Observe the minimum and maximum approach (loading) height range when driving
the chassis/monoblock onto the slider and the sliding arm. There is a risk of damage
to the product.
• When moving onto the slider, always try to align the chassis/monoblock to easily
unlock both levers of the slider. Never use excessive force. There is a risk of damage
to the product.
• Do not overload the part of the construction at the patient's feet when the chassis/
monoblock lies on the sliding arm.
• Hold the chassis/monoblock handle firmly when the undercarriage is raised to
the sliding arm. After reaching the limit position, the arm movement in the linear
guide rails is automatically unlocked and the device can thus start moving towards
the ambulance. There is a risk of injury.
• Always make sure that the rear horizontal and front vertical pins are completely
locked. The fixing lever must be fully raised to the horizontal position. Improper
locking of the fixing mechanism can lead to serious injuries.
• After the loading device is pulled out of the ambulance, the auxiliary spring acts,
which prevents backward movement. However, this is not sufficient protection
against movement due to external forces in real conditions. Never leave the patient
unattended.
• Before pressing the “+” button, always make sure that the chassis/monoblock is
fully pulled out from the ambulance.
• The limit voltage value to start charging can be set only by a trained person or
an authorized partner. There is a risk of damage to the product.
• Installation of the fastening system can be performed only by a trained person or
an authorized partner.

• When installing the fastening system to the ambulance floor, use only the installation
parts specified by the manufacturer; do not modify the construction of the fastening
system in any way.
• Long-term use of disinfectants in excessive concentration without subsequent
neutralization may result in a change of surface colour or product damage. Do not
use products containing organic solvents, such as acetone, toluene or benzine, to
clean and disinfect the surface.
• Lubrication may only be carried out by a trained person. Improper lubrication may
damage the function of the mechanisms.

Before First Use
WARNING
Before commissioning, please make sure that all components of the loading and
fastening system are working properly.
If necessary, adjust the correct height of the chassis/monoblock front pins.
Loading of the chassis/monoblock into the ambulance is enabled by a device consisting
of a slider, a sliding arm and a linear guide.
Fastening the chassis/monoblock in the fastening system is ensured by a fixing
mechanism consisting of the front and rear brackets.
Position of Components in the Ambulance
The individual components of the loading device have their precisely determined
positions in the ambulance.
- The linear guide rails are fully inserted.
- The sliding arm is aligned with the rear edge of the loading device.
- The slider is in the limit position on the sliding arm.
The individual components are locked in these positions, which prevents them from
moving in any direction.

Operation of the Loading Device Without
a Chassis/Monoblock
Sliding Out of the Ambulance
To slide out of the ambulance, lift the arm control lever and hold it all the time while
sliding out of the ambulance. Once you have reached the limit position, release the
lever and push slightly towards the ambulance to make sure that it is secured against
backward movement.

During the sliding out, the arm first moves in the grooves of the linear guide.
Subsequently, the sliding arm is magnetically connected to the linear guide rails and
this whole system moves out of the ambulance.

Sliding Into the Ambulance
To slide into the ambulance, lift the arm control lever and hold it all the time while
inserting the arm. When the entire length of the sliding arm is inserted into the
ambulance, release the lever. Continue to slide the arm gently until the arm and the
linear guide rails are locked. The lever turns to the locked position.
Push to make sure that both linear guide rails and the sliding arm are not able to move.
NOTE
During insertion, the arm magnetically connected to the linear guide rails is moved
first. Once the rails are fully retracted, the magnets disengage and the arm moves
independently in the grooves of the linear guides. To easily disengage the magnetic
connection, slide in the arm using a slightly increased force.

WARNING
For transport in an ambulance without a chassis/monoblock, please always make
sure that all components of the loading system are in the locked position. Never
leave the linear guide rails or the sliding arm in the unsecured position. There is a
risk of serious injuries.

Slider and Sliding Arm
The slider is in a locked position at the end of the sliding arm.
The slider control levers are located on the sides. These levers can be used to unlock
the slider and thus allow its movement along the entire length of the sliding arm.
The slider includes the auxiliary surfaces that serve to properly guide the chassis/
monoblock construction. Inclined guiding surfaces allow entering from lower positions.

To unlock the slider, it is necessary to simultaneously press both slider control levers.
When only one lever is pressed, movement is not allowed.
Pressing the slider lever turns the latch, which serves to connect the chassis/monoblock
construction to the slider.

When the slider moves towards the ambulance, the tilting lever, which is part of
the sliding arm, is released and raised. On the other hand, when the slider moves
out of the ambulance, the tilting lever is secured in the lower (horizontal) position.
The function of the tilting lever is explained in more detail in the chapter Entering the
Ambulance (p. 17).

When both slider control levers are pressed by the vertical rollers, which are a part of
the chassis/monoblock, the slider is unlocked and the chassis/monoblock can be freely
pushed further towards the ambulance. The function of the control levers is described
in more detail in the chapter Slider and Sliding Arm (p.14).

Step 4
Move the chassis/monoblock to the end of the sliding arm. During this movement, the
tilting lever is unlocked. This lever is then guided smoothly along the inclined surface
to the lock, where it locks and secures the chassis/monoblock against the backward
movement. Try to pull the chassis/monoblock out of the ambulance to make sure that
it is locked.

Hold down the “-” button located on the chassis/monoblock control panel. First, the
chassis/monoblock sits down on the sliding arm and then the undercarriage is raised.

When the undercarriage is raised to the maximum position, the undercarriage
construction pushes the arm control lever, which unlocks the sliding arm and thus
allows its insertion towards the ambulance.
WARNING
Hold the chassis/monoblock handle firmly when the undercarriage is raised to the
arm. After reaching the limit position, the arm movement in the linear guide rails is
automatically unlocked and the device can thus start moving towards the ambulance.
There is a risk of injury.
NOTE
In the limit position (the loading device is completely extended from the ambulance),
the auxiliary spring acts, which partially prevents spontaneous movement towards
the ambulance.
When inserting the loading device into the ambulance, apply a slight force to push it
back.

Step 6
Push the chassis/monoblock towards the ambulance. When the mechanical stop is
reached, the front and rear fixing brackets are locked at the same time. The fixing lever
automatically raises to the locked position. This secures the chassis/monoblock for safe
transport in the road ambulance.
Make sure that the fixing lever is in the locked position.

Always make sure that the rear horizontal and front vertical pins are completely

Exiting the Ambulance
Step 1
To unlock the fixing mechanism, press the fixing lever. The horizontal pin and the pair
of vertical pins retract and lock in the unlocked position. Slide the chassis/monoblock
out of the ambulance.
After moving to the limit position, the auxiliary spring is pushed, which prevents the
unintended return movement towards the ambulance. When you push slightly towards
the ambulance, you will feel a slight resistance of the spring, which will make you sure
that it is in the limit position. Before the next step, always make sure that the chassis/
monoblock is completely in the limit position.

After the loading device is pulled out of the ambulance, the auxiliary spring acts,
which prevents backward movement. However, this is not sufficient protection
against movement due to external forces in real conditions. Never leave the patient
unattended.
NOTE
After pulling out the chassis/monoblock or rather disconnecting the charging
connectors, the undercarriage is automatically pulled and at the same time the control
lever of the sliding arm is pressed. This ensures a smooth exit from the ambulance.

Press the “+” button. The undercarriage
starts moving downwards. Hold the
button until the movement stops
automatically. The wheels land on the
ground and the chassis/monoblock rises
slightly.

Before pressing the “+” button, always make sure that the chassis/monoblock is fully
pulled out from the ambulance.
Step 3
Press the ambulance exit release lever, which is located on the chassis/monoblock
control panel and unlocks the tilting lever. Then slide the chassis/monoblock out of the
loading device.

Charging in the Ambulance
The rear fixing mechanism includes charging contacts. Charging starts automatically
when the chassis/monoblock is inserted into the fixing mechanism and connected to
the charging connectors. After the contact is established, charging will start within 10
seconds.

Space Required Behind theAmbulance
The ambulance body must always be adapted so that there is a sufficient space to allow
the undercarriage movement.
The table below shows the relationship between the ambulance floor height and the
distance between the front edge of the carriage and the rear edge of the loading
device.

Instructions for Installation
in the Ambulance
Before starting the installation of the fixing mechanism, it is necessary to remove
the side covers from the rear bracket.
After installation of the fixing mechanism, it is necessary to attach the side covers of
the rear bracket to their original positions.
WARNING
Installation of the fixing mechanism can be performed only by a trained person or
an authorized partner.
Preparation
First, loosen the 8 screws from the side covers of the rear bracket and slowly remove
the covers.

After the chassis/monoblock has been placed on the loading arm, the undercarriage
begins to retract. During retraction, the front of the undercarriage moves slightly
towards the rear of the chassis/monoblock.

Fasteners for installation of the fixing mechanism are not part of the delivery.
WARNING
When installing the fixing mechanism to the ambulance floor, use only the
installation elements specified by the manufacturer; do not modify the construction
of the fastening system in any way.
Use the dimensions from the following drawing to make holes for the assembly itself.
Recommended Installation
To install the front and rear brackets, use 18 M10 bolts in strength class 10.9, washers
and nuts. Secure the screw connections with thread-locking glue.
The square holes on the bottom plate of the rear bracket are used for the passage of
cabling.

Preventive Maintenance
Maintenance
The fastening system requires regular maintenance. Make a maintenance plan/schedule
and follow it. The table below shows the minimum maintenance intervals.

1. Wash all parts with lukewarm water.
2. Remove bloodstains with a brush or solvent.
3. Blow off excess water with compressed air and wipe dry with a cloth.
4. Treat the surface with the WD-40 and polish it.
Disinfection
The disinfection can be made using conventional disinfectants based on active chlorine
and hydrogen peroxide. After disinfection, wash the product with lukewarm water and
wipe dry with a cloth.

neutralization may result in a change of surface colour or product damage. Do not use
products containing organic solvents, such as acetone, toluene or benzine, to clean
and disinfect the surface.
Lubrication
Lubricate with Interflon Fin Lube TF.
WARNING
Lubrication may only be performed by a trained person. Improper lubrication may
damage the function of the mechanisms.

Checklist
Carrying out checks and recording them in the maintenance logs is a condition for the
acceptance of any potential warranty claim.
All mechanical and screw connections are fixed.
All welds are intact, free from cracks and breaks.
All components are unbent, unbroken.
All control levers are undamaged and working properly.
