1 Safety
1.1 Introduction
With the purchase of the Tissue Bath TFB 55 you decided for a high quality product
of Medite GmbH. These instructions shall help you to use the instrument. Please
read it thoroughly and follow the advices.
If you see this symbol in the instruction manual, it indicates dangers
(including warnings).
1.2 Intended use
The Tissue Bath TFB 55 should be used to prepare specimens in laboratories, only.
It must not be used for the preparing of food.
Unauthorized changes and technical modifications of the instruments are not
permitted for safety reasons. For the exchange of defective parts only original medite
spare parts have to be used.
The conditions for operation, maintenance and service mentioned in this instruction
manual have to be strictly observed.
1.3 Authorized operator
The TFB 55 must be used by those persons only, who have been authorized by the
owner. In his working area, the operator is responsible with regard to third persons.
The owner must give the operator access to the instruction manual and make sure
that the operator has read and understood its contents.
1.4 Safety on site
The TFB 55 must be installed on an even and stable work-surface.
Any failure to comply with the approved technical regulations for the
operation of technical equipment or any non-intended use of the
instrument will void the manufacturer’s liability.

2 Installation and operation
2.1 Technical data

- Bath well and edge made of aluminium with black coating.
- Safe heating system, avoids overheating and damage even in case of empty bath

2.2 Operating conditions:
- The operation is only allowed in closed rooms
- laboratory bench free of vibrations and strong enough for the instrument’s weight
- Environmental temperature from + 15°C to + 45°C
(without big variation in temperature)
- at maximum 80% relative humidity of air, not condensing
- the instrument must not be exposed directly to the sun
- Guaranteeing a sufficient air circulation for cooling, the instrument needs enough
space (minimum 15cm) to all sides

2.3 Transport/Storage
The TFB 55 is delivered in a protecting box. Please move it only upright and avoid
shock.
2.4 Unpacking
Put the instrument on an even, solid surface and remove the protecting box and
plastic wrap. If possible, keep the packing material to avoid damages in case of a
later transport of the unit. Check whether the equipment is complete.
The TFB 55 is supplied with one power cord and one instruction manual.
2.5 Installation and Connection
Before starting the instrument, please make sure that your mains voltage
corresponds to the value indicated on the instrument (example: for an instrument
requiring 240 Volts, 200 - 240 Volts should be available; for a 115 Volts-instrument,
there should be 100 - 125 Volts.) The instrument is supplied ready to use. For
connection to mains the included power cord must be used. It must be connected to
a socket with intact ground wire.

3. Operation
Assembly of the instrument
1.
Place thermometer support with glass thermometer onto the rim of the bath
opposite the control panel, making sure that the thermometer does not touch
the floor of the bath.
(The fixing and height adjustment of the thermometer on the thermometer
support is done by the enclosed rubber ring being rolled over the thermometer
from above)

Fill with distilled or fully desalinated water up to 1-2 cm below the rim of the
bath. If tap water is used, the black interior surface will become white due to
lime deposits. The sections are then not clearly visible any more.

Before connecting the instrument with the enclosed line cord to the grounded
current supply, it is necessary to check that the power supply is the same like
prescribed on the type plate of the instrument.

Connect unit to mains power.

Switch on the green main switch.

Select temperature by turning the temperature regulator (knob). Always turn
clockwise. Pilot lamp lights up and extinguishes when the temperature is
achieved.
Before the required temperature is achieved, heating will be switched off by the
temperature regulator several times for short periods. This prevents an
overheating.

4Maintenance
Use gentle cleaning agents only for cleaning the bath unit since scouring powder
would damage the black epoxy coating.
In case of a non-functioning of the instrument, e.g. caused by voltage oscillations,
please check whether the fuses in the back of the instrument are defect.
Should the defect not be eliminated by changing the fuses please call the service
department.
CAUTION: Before dismounting the fuses pull out the mains plug!

6 Putting out of operation
After end of the total period of use please deliver the equipment to an authorized
disposal facility. The company Medite as manufacturer is also prepared to take back
the equipment for disposal against payment for the disposal fee.
Within Europe we offer the professional disposal free of charge. In this case
please return the equipment with the labelling “ for disposal “ to your national
