Product description
Metra Electronic Lock Battery Tester is
intended for locker manufacturers as a
reliable testing tool used during
manufacturing process and personnel making
locker installations on the field. It is powered
by four 1.5 volt AA Alkaline batteries. One
Metra Electronic Lock can be connected to
tester at a time. Tester performs
locking/unlocking procedure as well as
checking proper cable connection. It is most
commonly used during the installation
procedure when all the Electronic Locks are
mounted and cable connectors crimped. Test
procedure is done before connecting cables to
central Control Unit/Locker Controller.
In addition user can also lock or unlock all the
lockers. This feature is useful for
transportation of assembled lockers.

User Interface
Electronic Lock Battery Tester user interface uses optical signals (#1, #2 and #5) to inform the user
about operation progress. Signals are explained in the tables below.

Operating indicator
When the device is running a green OPERATE signal light is ON.
Electronic Lock Testing
Turn ON the device
Connect the 6 pole flat cable from the Electric Locker to
the device.
Closing Locker
Close the Locker door. If operation is successful “OK”
optical signal turns on for 3 seconds.
NOTE
If Locker door does not lock –operation fails and “NO”
signal lights up for 3 seconds. Check the cable
connections and Electronic Lock installation.

Opening Locker (single unlocking operation)
Press the button to open the Locker Door. If operation is
successful “OK” optical signal turns on for 3 seconds.
NOTE
If Locker door does not open –operation fails and “NO”
signal lights up for 3 seconds. Check the cable
connections and Electronic Lock installation.
Opening Locker (10 times in a row unlocking operation)
Function used when Locker door gets jammed and does
not unlock with single open signal.
Press and hold the button for 3 seconds until the 10 times
in a row unlocking operation starts and the “OK” signal
light starts flashing.
NOTE
If Locker door does not open after 10 attempts –
operation fails and “NO” signal lights up for 3 seconds.
Try repeating the operation and slightly push in the
Locker door in the area of the door strike.
Replacing Batteries
Open the battery compartment door.

Replace all 1,5V AA batteries. Pay attention on battery
orientation.
CAUTION
Use only 1,5V Alkaline or Ni-Mh batteries to avoid battery
leaks.
