Incompleteconnectingandxingcouldcausere.
• Donotuseintermediateconnectionofthepowercordortheextensioncord
anddonotconnectmanydevicestooneACoutlet.
Itcouldcauseareoranelectricshockduetodefectivecontact,defective
insulation,exceedingthepermissiblecurrent,etc.
• Checkthattherefrigerantgasdoesnotleakafterinstallationhascompleted.
• Performtheinstallationsecurelyreferringtotheinstallationmanual.
Incomplete installation could cause a personal injury due to re, electric
shock,theunitfallingorleakageofwater.
• Performelectricalworkaccordingtotheinstallationmanualandbesureto
useanexclusivecircuit.
Ifthecapacityofthepowercircuitisinsufcientorthereisincompleteelectri-
calwork,itcouldresultinareoranelectricshock.
• Theusershouldneverattempttorepairtheunitortransferittoanotherloca-
tion.
• Theapplianceshallbeinstalledinaccordancewithnationalwiringregula-
tions.
• Ifthesupplycordisdamaged,itmustbereplacedbythemanufacturer,its
serviceagentorsimilarlyqualiedpersonsinordertoavoidahazard.
• Attachtheelectricalpartcovertotheindoorunitandtheservicepaneltothe
outdoorunitsecurely.
Iftheelectricalpartcoverintheindoorunitand/ortheservicepanelinthe
outdoorunitarenotattachedsecurely,itcouldresultinareoranelectric
shockduetodust,water,etc.
• Besuretousethepartprovidedorspeciedpartsfortheinstallationwork.
Theuseofdefectivepartscouldcauseaninjuryorleakageofwaterduetoa
re,anelectricshock,theunitfalling,etc.
• Ventilatetheroomifrefrigerantleaksduringoperation.
If the refrigerant comes in contact with a ame, poisonous gases will be
released.
• Wheninstallingorrelocating,orservicingtheairconditioner,useonlythe
speciedrefrigerant(R410A)tochargetherefrigerantlines.Donotmixitwith
anyotherrefrigerantanddonotallowairtoremaininthelines.
Ifairismixedwiththerefrigerant,thenitcanbethecauseofabnormalhigh
pressure in the refrigerant line, and may result in an explosion and other
hazards.
Theuseofanyrefrigerantotherthanthatspeciedforthesystemwillcause
mechanical failure or system malfunction or unit breakdown. In the worst
case,thiscouldleadtoaseriousimpedimenttosecuringproductsafety.
Caution:
• Performgrounding.
Donotconnectthegroundwiretoagaspipe,waterpipearresterortelephone
groundwire.Defectivegroundingcouldcauseanelectricshock.
• Donotinstalltheunitinaplacewhereaninammablegasleaks.
Ifgasleaksandaccumulatesintheareasurroundingtheunit,itcouldcause
anexplosion.
• Installagroundleakagebreakerdependingontheinstallationplace(where
itishumid).
If a ground leakage breaker is not installed, it could cause an electric
shock.
• Perform the drainage/piping work securely according to the installation
manual.
Ifthereisadefectinthedrainage/pipingwork,watercoulddropfromtheunit
andhouseholdgoodscouldbewetanddamaged.
• Fastenaarenutwithatorquewrenchasspeciedinthismanual.
Whenfastenedtootight,aarenutmaybrokenafteralongperiodandcause
aleakageofrefrigerant.
• Iftheunitisrunforlonghourswhentheairabovetheceilingisathightem-
perature/highhumidity(dewpointabove26ºC),dewcondensationmaybe
producedintheindoorunitortheceilingmaterials.Whenoperatingtheunits
inthiscondition,addinsulationmaterial(10-20mm)totheentiresurfaceof
theunitandceilingmaterialstoavoiddewcondensation.
2. Selectingtheinstallationlocation
2.1. Indoorunit
• Whereairowisnotblocked.
• Wherecoolairspreadsovertheentireroom.
• Whereitisnotexposedtodirectsunshine.
• Atadistance1mormoreawayfromyourTVandradio(topreventpicturefrom
being distorted or noise from being generated).
• Inaplaceasfarawayaspossiblefromuorescentandincandescentlights(sothe
infrared remote control can operate the air conditioner normally).
• Wheretheairltercanberemovedandreplacedeasily.
Warning:
Mounttheindoorunitintoaceilingstrongenoughtowithstandtheweightof
theunit.
2.2.
Wirelessremotecontrollermounting(ForSLP-2FAL*)
• Placeofmounting
• Whereitiseasytooperateandeasilyvisible.
• Wherechildrencannottouch.
• Mounting
Selectapositionabout1.2mabovetheoor,checkthatsignalsfromtheremote
controlleraresurelyreceivedbytheindoorunitfromthatposition(‘beep’or‘beep-
beep’receivingtonesounds).Afterthat,attachremotecontrollerholdertoapillar
or wall and set the wireless remote controller.
Inrooms whereinverter typeuorescent lampsare used,the signal fromthe
wirelessremotecontrollermaynotbereceived.
Note:
Thephrase“Wiredremotecontroller”inthisinstallationmanualrefersonlytothePAR-33MAA.Ifyouneedanyinformationfortheotherremotecontroller,
pleaserefertoeithertheinstallationmanualorinitialsettingmanualwhichareincludedintheseboxes.

4.4. Suspension structure (Give site of suspension
strongstructure)(Fig.4-4)
• Theceilingworkdiffersaccordingtotheconstructionofthebuilding.Buildingcon-
structors and interior decorators should be consulted for details.
(1)Extentofceilingremoval:Theceilingmustbekeptcompletelyhorizontalandthe
ceilingfoundation(framework:woodenslatsandslatholders)mustbereinforced
inordertoprotecttheceilingfromvibration.
(2)Cutandremovetheceilingfoundation.
(3)Reinforcetheendsoftheceilingfoundationwhereithasbeencutandaddceiling
foundation for securing the ends of the ceiling board.
(4)Wheninstallingtheunitonaslantingceiling,interlockapillowbetweentheceiling
andthegrilleandsetsothattheunitisinstalledhorizontally.
1 Woodenstructures
• Usetiebeams(single-storyhouses)orsecondoorbeams(twostoryhouses)as
reinforcing members.
• Woodenbeamsforsuspendingairconditionersmustbesturdyandtheirsidesmust
be at least 6 cm long if the beams are separated by not more than 90 cm and their
sides must be at least 9 cm long if the beams are separated by as much as 180
cm.Thesizeofthesuspensionboltsshouldbeø10(3/8").(Theboltsdonotcome
with the unit.)

Securethesuspensionboltsusingthemethodshown,orusesteelorwoodenhang-
ers,etc.toinstallthesuspensionbolts.

Suspend the main unit as shown in the diagram.
1. Inadvance,setthepartsontothesuspensionboltsintheorderofthewashers
(withinsulation),washers(withoutinsulation)andnuts(double).
• Fitthewasherwithcushionsothattheinsulationfacesdownward.
• Incaseofusingupperwasherstosuspendthemainunit,thelowerwashers(with
insulation)andnuts(double)aretobesetlater.
2. Lift the unit to the proper height of the suspension bolts to insert the mounting
plate between washers and then fasten it securely.
3. Whenthemainunitcannotbealignedagainstthemountingholeontheceiling,
itisadjustableowingtoaslotprovidedonthemountingplate.(Fig.4-6)
• MakesurethatstepAisperformedwithin37-42mm.Damagecouldresultby
failing to adhere to this range.
4.6. Conrmingthepositionofmainunitandtightening
thesuspensionbolts(Fig.4-7)
• Usingthegaugeattachedtothegrille,ensurethatthebottomofthemainunitis
properlyalignedwiththeopeningoftheceiling.Besuretoconrmthis,otherwise
condensation may form and drip due to air leakage etc.
• Conrmthatthemainunitishorizontallylevelled,usingaleveloravinyltubelled
with water.
• Aftercheckingthepositionofthemainunit,tightenthenutsofthesuspensionbolts
securely to fasten the main unit.
• Theinstallationtemplatecanbeusedasaprotectivesheettopreventdustfrom
entering the main unit when the grilles are left unattached for a while or when the
ceilingmaterialsaretobelinedafterinstallationoftheunitisnished.

5.1. Precautions
FordevicesthatuseR410Arefrigerant
• Usealkylbenzene oil(small amount)as therefrigeration oilapplied tothe
aredsections.
• UseC1220copperphosphorusforcopperandcopperalloyseamlesspipes,
toconnecttherefrigerantpipes.Userefrigerantpipeswiththethicknesses
specied in the table below. Make sure the insides of the pipes are clean
anddonotcontainanyharmfulcontaminantssuchassulfuriccompounds,
oxidants,debris,ordust.
Warning:
When installing or relocating, or servicing the air conditioner, use only the
specied refrigerant written on outdoor unit to charge the refrigerant lines.
Donotmixitwithanyotherrefrigerantanddonotallowairtoremaininthe
lines.
Ifairismixedwiththerefrigerant,thenitcanbethecauseofabnormalhigh
pressureintherefrigerantline,andmayresultinanexplosionandotherhaz-
ards.
Theuseofanyrefrigerantotherthanthatspeciedforthesystemwillcause
mechanical failure or system malfunction or unit breakdown. In the worst
case,thiscouldleadtoaseriousimpedimenttosecuringproductsafety.

5.5. Pipeconnection(Fig.5-8)
Indoorunit
1) Whenusingcommerciallyavailablecopperpipes:
• Applythinlayerofrefrigerantoiltopipeandjointseatingsurfacebeforetightening
arenut.
• Usetwowrenchestotightenpipingconnections.
• Air-purgetherefrigerantpipingusingyourownrefrigerantgas(don’tair-purgethe
refrigerant charged in the outdoor unit).
• Use leak detector or soapy water to check for gas leaks after connections are
completed.
• Usearednutinstalledtothisindoorunit.
• Incaseofreconnectingtherefrigerantpipesafterdetaching,makethearedpart
ofpipere-fabricated.
• Userefrigerantpipinginsulationprovidedtoinsulateindoorunitconnections.Insulate
carefully following shown below.
2) Heatinsulationforrefrigerantpipes:
1 Wraptheenclosedlarge-sizedpipecoveraroundthegaspipe,makingsurethat
theendofthepipecovertouchesthesideoftheunit.
2 Wraptheenclosedsmall-sizedpipecoveraroundtheliquidpipe,makingsurethat
theendofthepipecovertouchesthesideoftheunit.
3 Securebothendsofeachpipecoverwiththeenclosedbands.(Attachthebands
20mmfromtheendsofthepipecover.)
Makesurethattheslitinthepipecoverisfacingupwardwhenitisinstalled.
Seethatstopvalveonoutdoorunitisfullyshut(unitisshippedwithvalveshut).After
allpipingconnectionsbetweenindoorandoutdoorunithavebeencompleted,vacuum-
purgeairfromsystemthroughtheserviceportforthestopvalveontheoutdoorunit.
Aftercompletingproceduresabove,openoutdoorunitstopvalvesstemfully.This
completes connection of refrigerant circuit between indoor and outdoor units. Stop
valveinstructionsaremarkedonoutdoorunit.
Flarenuttightening
• Applyathincoatofrefrigerationoilontheseatsurfaceofpipe.
• Forconnectionrstalignthecenter,thentightentherst3to4turnsofarenut.
• Usetighteningtorque tablebelowasa guideline forindoorunitside unionjoint
section,andtightenusingtwowrenches.Excessivetighteningdamagestheare
section.
AApplyrefrigeratingmachineoilovertheentireareseatsurface.
BUsecorrectarenutsmeetingthepipesizeoftheoutdoorunit.

► Use a 500-volt megohmmeter to check that the resistance between the
powersupplyterminalsandgroundisatleast1.0MΩ.
