WARNINGS
1.1. GENERAL
B Installing the Mobile e® AWS™ Driver Assistance S stem, ou will be
acknowledging and agreeing to operate Mobile e AWS in accordance with
the Safet Instructions and Warnings set forth below. If ou do not agree
to these terms, please return Mobile e AWS to our dealer, in its original
packing materials, within 30 da s of purchase, for a full refund.
Mobileye AWS is a driver assistance system hich is intended to alert drivers to certain
potentially dangerous situations. It does not replace any functions drivers ould
ordinarily perform in driving a motor vehicle, nor does it decrease the need for drivers
to stay vigilant and alert in all driving conditions, to conform to all safe driving
standards and practices, and to obey all traffic la s, rules and regulations.
Mobileye AWS is not an automated driving system and it does not act as a substitute for
any aspect of driver vehicle control or safe driving practices. Drivers are strongly
cautioned not to rely on the Mobileye AWS as a substitution, to even the slightest
degree, for the exercise of due caution in assuring that they are driving safely and
avoiding accidents.
While Mobileye AWS represents a state of the art innovation in machine vision soft are
and other technologies, it cannot and does not guarantee 100% accuracy in the
detection of vehicles or driving lanes, nor in providing arnings of all potential road
hazards. In addition, road, eather and other conditions can adversely affect the
Mobileye AWS system’s recognition and response capabilities. Accordingly, drivers
should not rely on the Mobileye AWS to assure their driving safety, but rather should
continue to rely on safe driving practices.
Drivers should exercise caution in using the Mobileye AWS Display Unit. Al ays maintain
full concentration on the road at all times including hile looking at the Mobileye AWS
display.
1.2. SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
•The Mobile e AWS is intended for paved roads, with clear lane
markings.
•The Mobile e AWS onl detects full visible rear ends of vehicles.
Therefore the detection of crossing, oncoming, and passing vehicles, as
well as motorc cles, bic cles, and pedestrians is not supported.
•The Mobile e AWS does not guarantee 100% accurac in the detection
of vehicles or driving lanes, nor in providing warnings of all potential
road hazards. In addition, road, weather and other conditions can
adversel affect the Mobile e AWS s stem’s recognition and response
capabilities.
•An conditions that form partial or full blockage of the camera’s view
will result in reduced or non-functionalit of Mobile e AWS. Alwa s
ensure clear camera view.

1.3. INSTALLATION AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
•AWS installation must be carried out b an Authorized Mobile e AWS
Dealer or Installer.
•The Mobile e AWS s stem should not be transferred between vehicles,
other than b an Authorized Mobile e AWS Dealer or Installer.
•The Mobile e AWS should onl be operated with 12VDC~24VDC power.
•Do not cover or obstruct the Camera Unit or Mobile e AWS Displa and
Control Unit.
•Do not use Mobile e AWS s stem for an purpose other than described
in this User Manual.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS
The Mobileye AWS-4000 includes the follo ing components:
•Camera Unit
•Displa and Control Unit
•Stereo speakers
AWS-4000 system components
The functionality of these components is described in the follo ing sections.
2.1. CAMERA UNIT
The Camera Unit contains the camera and the main processor of the Mobileye AWS. The
Camera Unit:
•Identifies lane markings
•Identifies vehicles that are driving ahead of ou
•Processes the video data for potentiall dangerous situations
•Instructs the s stem as to which alert to produce and when to issue it.
The Camera Unit is attached to the front indshield by a Windshield Mount – a black
plastic element that fastens the Camera Unit to the front indshield. (Please refer to the
follo ing illustration.)
IMPORTANT NOTE: To prevent possible degradation in system accuracy, do not
remove or tamper ith the Camera Unit or the Windshield Mount.

CAUTION: The Camera Unit can heat up during operation. Refrain from
touching the Camera Unit during or immediatel after operation.
2.2. WINDSHIELD MOUNT
The Windshield Mount is used to attach the Camera Unit to the front indshield. It also
protects the Camera Unit, and ensures a clear, unobstructed vie .
The Po er Indication Light on the back left side of the Windshield Mount (follo ing
illustration) indicates that the Camera Unit is receiving po er.

2.3. DISPLAY AND CONTROL UNIT
The Display and Control Unit provides you ith:
•Visual alerts (for example, visual indication of our current driving
distance from the vehicle ahead).
•S stem status indications (for example, a low visibilit situation)
•Control buttons for s stem control and configuration
The Display and Control Unit is attached either to the dashboard or to the front
indshield of the vehicle.
2.4. LOUDSPEAKERS
The Mobileye AWS-4000 includes loudspeakers installed to the left and right sides of the
driver. They are used for sounding directional audio alerts, according to the direction of
danger.

GETTING STARTED
3.1. TURNING ON MOBILEYE AWS-4000
The system is turned on automatically hen the car is started.
NOTE: The Mobileye AWS-4000 is fully operational and requires no additional
setup by the driver. Should the need arise to change the AWS-4000 configuration,
please refer to Section 8 of this manual before trying to use the Mobileye AWS-
4000 control panel. Careless changes in system settings may result in undesirable
behavior.
A number of seconds after you start the car, the Mobileye AWS-4000 display ill sho
the “System Ready” screen.
The “System Ready screen
The displayed elements on the “System Ready” screen are:
•LDW OFF – indicates that Lane Departure Warnings are currentl
unavailable. This indication will disappear when the car reaches a
speed of 55 km/h (34 mph), and the LDW feature becomes active.
•HW OFF – indicates that Headwa Warnings are currentl unavailable.
This indication will appear if Headwa Warnings are manuall disabled.
• “_ _” – this indication (on the lower part of “S stem Read ” screen)
appears whenever the car is at a standstill. It will disappear when the
car starts moving.

4.1. WHAT IS FCW?
The For ard Collision Warning alerts you to the danger of an impending collision ith
the vehicle ahead. The Mobileye AWS-4000 calculates the expected Time to Collision
(TTC) ith the vehicle in front and, hen the TTC drops to a dangerous threshold, it
immediately generates an FCW alert.
4.2. FCW IS GENERATED WHEN…
An FCW is generated up to 2.7 seconds before possible collision ith the vehicle in front.
4.3. FCW AUDIO ALERT
An FCW audio alert is a series of loud, high-pitched beeps hich effectively dra your
attention to the emergency.
4.4. FCW ACTIVATION
The FCW function is al ays active.
4.5. FCW VISUAL ALERT
When an FCW is emitted, a red, flashing car icon is sho n on the Display Unit (please
refer to the follo ing illustration).

4.6. WHEN IS FCW NOT GENERATED?
A FCW is al ays active unless the system has been turned off.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The For ard Collision Warning is a critical alert that cannot
be disabled or muted. However, if the s stem is turned off, no warnings will
be issued, including FCW.

LANE DEPARTURE WARNING (LDW)
5.1. WHAT IS LDW?
The Mobileye AWS-4000 provides a Lane Departure Warning (LDW) to alert you hen
you are about to unintentionally s erve outside of the lane you are driving in.
5.2. LDW IS GENERATED WHEN…
LDW alerts you hen the car begins to s erve from the driving lane. The system
generates an LDW alert up to 0.5 seconds before the vehicle crosses the lane marking.
If you use the turn signal prior to moving bet een lanes, an alert is not generated.
5.3. LDW AUDIO ALERT
The LDW audio alert is a directional sound, emitted for a duration of 1 second, from the
left or the right speaker, relative to the direction of the deviation.
5.4. LDW VISUAL ALERT
On the Mobileye AWS-4000 Display Unit, the relevant right or left Lane Departure
indicator flashes, as sho n in the follo ing illustration.

5.5. LDW ACTIVATION
The LDW is active at speeds above 55 km/h (34 mph).
NOTE: If your heels touch the inner lane marking on a curve, the arning ill be
some hat delayed, to avoid unnecessary alerts.
5.6. WHEN IS LDW NOT GENERATED?
An LDW ill not issue an audio alert in any of the follo ing circumstances:
•Lanes are poorl marked or unmarked.
•You signal before changing lanes.
•The LDW is disabled (sensitivit level is set to zero).
•You make a sharp turn (such as at an exit at a highwa interchange).
•The s stem has been intentionall muted.
•You are driving at speeds below 55 km/h (34 mph)

HEADWAY MONITORING AND WARNING (HMW)
6.1. WHAT IS HMW?
The Mobileye AWS-4000 Head ay Monitoring and Warning monitors the driving distance
from the vehicle in front of you (head ay) and alerts you hen the head ay is less than
a pre-defined threshold.
Head ay is measured in seconds, and not physical distance. The head ay is the
number of seconds it ould take for your vehicle to reach the current position of the
vehicle ahead. Mobileye AWS-4000 continuously calculates your head ay and displays it
numerically on the display Unit.
A t o-second head ay, in clear eather, is usually considered a safe distance.
6.2. A HEADWAY WARNING IS GENERATED WHEN…
A head ay arning is initiated hen the head ay value is less than a pre-defined
threshold. This value is configurable by the user.
6.3. HMW VISUAL ALERT
The Head ay Meter displays the Head ay distance in seconds. As long as there is a
vehicle ahead of you in your lane, the Head ay Meter’s displayed value is continuously
updated. If no head ay value is displayed, the vehicle in front of you is more than 2.5
seconds a ay.

There are three HMW visual alerts, sho n in the follo ing illustration, issued according
to the proximity of the t o vehicles:
Notice – A green car icon is displayed from the moment the system detects a vehicle in
front of your car and as long as the head ay remains greater than 1 second.
Caution – An amber car icon is displayed hen head ay is bet een 1 second and 0.6
seconds. The distance bet een the t o cars is unsafe.
Warning! – A red car icon is displayed hen head ay is less than 0.6 seconds. This is
dangerous tailgating, and the distance bet een the t o cars is perilous.

6.4. HMW AUDIO ALERT
A single chime is sounded to dra your attention to a dangerous head ay situation. The
timing of the arning can be customized by the user. (Please refer to Section 8.5.1 for
customization instructions.)
6.5. HMW ACTIVATION
The visual alert is displayed henever a detected car traveling in front of your vehicle.
The audio alert is active hen you are driving at speeds greater than 30 km/h (19
mph).
NOTE: HMW is activated only after you reach a speed of 40 km/h (25 mph). It
then remains active until your driving speed drops belo 30 km/h (19 mph).
6.6. WHEN ARE HMW AUDIO WARNINGS NOT GENERATED?
While Head ay Monitoring and Warning visual indications cannot be disabled, it is
possible to mute this function’s audio alert. HMW ill not issue audio arnings hen:
•You drive at speeds below 30 km/h (19 mph).
•The HMW has been intentionall disabled b setting its alert distance to
‘OFF’.
•The Mobile e AWS volume level has been set to ‘Mute’.
NOTES:
•When a passing vehicle cuts in front of you in your lane and drives a ay, a
HMW alert is not generated.
•The HMW arning scheme can be customized – mainly for commercial vehicles
– so that the audio arning ill increase in frequency as the head ay value
decreases.
6.7. CHANGING THE TIMING OF THE HEADWAY AUDIO ALERT
The timing of HMW audio arning is set by default to 0.6 seconds. You can change this
setting to any value bet een 0.4 and 2.0 seconds. To learn ho to change the Head ay
Warning timing, refer to paragraph 8.5.1.
WARNINGS!
•Never configure Mobile e AWS-4000 while driving!
•Setting the timing of the headwa alert to a low value will activate the
alert when vehicles are ver close. You are alwa s solel responsible for
maintaining a safe driving distance from vehicles ahead, regardless of
Mobile e AWS-4000 warnings or lack of them.

DISPLAY UNIT

The Display Unit - visual indications
7.1. LEFT DEVIATION ALERT
This flashing indicator is displayed up to 0.5 seconds before your vehicle touches the left
lane mark, if you have not signaled.
7.2. LDW AVAILABILITY
When the “LDW OFF” indication is lit, Lane Departure Warnings are unavailable. This
happens hen you drive at speeds belo 55 km/h (34 mph), the system is muted, or
the LDW alerts have been manually disabled.
7.3. HEADWAY VISUAL ALERT
The car icon is displayed hen a vehicle is detected ahead of you in the driving lane.
This icon is colored green, amber, or red according to the increasing alert severity (see
paragraph 6.3 for additional information).
7.4. RIGHT DEVIATION ALERT
This flashing indicator is displayed up to 0.5 seconds before a vehicle touches the right
lane mark ithout signaling.
7.5. “SYSTEM ON” INDICATOR
This green dot is al ays on hen Mobileye AWS-4000 is turned on.
7.6. MODE SELECTION
These icons indicate that either the Head ay Warning timing or the LDW sensitivity is in
configuration mode.
7.7. SECONDS
The letter “s” indicates that the displayed value is in Head ay Seconds. This icon is
displayed henever the Head ay Meter displays a numerical head ay value.

7.8. HEADWAY METER
This is a continuous display of the head ay distance (in seconds) from the vehicle
ahead that is detected by the Mobileye AWS-4000. Only values of 2.5 seconds or less
are displayed.
7.9. MAINTENANCE
This icon indicates that you may have a malfunction in your system. When the vehicle is
at a standstill, turn the s itch off and then restart the car. If the icon still appears, refer
to Section 9, Troubleshooting.
7.10. MUTE
This speaker-shaped icon indicates that all audio alerts are muted except for the
For ard Collision Warning alert, hich cannot be muted due to its critical importance.
7.11. LOW VISIBILITY
The eye-shaped icon is displayed hen lo visibility is detected. Lo visibility may be
caused by bad eather (heavy rain, thick fog), direct sunlight, or some obstructing
element (condensation or dirt on the indshield, etc.) that is blocking the camera’s field
of vie . The Mobileye AWS-4000 ill continue to ork during lo visibility conditions,
but may have a shorter range of detection.

Do not adjust Mobile e AWS-4000 controls while driving!

8.1. ON/OFF ( )
To turn off the Mobileye AWS-4000, press the ON/OFF button until ‘OF’ is displayed in
the lo er part of the Display Unit. To turn on the Mobileye AWS-4000 again, press the
ON/OFF button once.

WARNING!
When the Mobile e AWS-4000 is turned OFF, no warnings will be issued.
8.2. MUTE ( )
Press this button to Mute/Un-Mute the Mobileye AWS-4000. Muting ill disable the HMW
and LDW audio alerts.
NOTES:
•The For ard Collision Warning alerts cannot be muted – they are critical alerts.
•Mute and OFF conditions are not saved by the system. Each time the vehicle is
restarted, the Mobileye AWS-4000 is ON, and NOT muted.
8.3. INCREASE/DECREASE VOLUME /
The Increase and Decrease volume buttons let you select bet een 10 volume levels.
Press the “ ” button to increase volume, and the “ ” button to decrease volume.
When you change the volume level of the system, the selected volume level ill be
displayed on the alphanumeric display, and a short audio alert ill be played to
demonstrate the selected volume level.
NOTE: You can turn do n LDW and HMW audio alerts by lo ering the system
volume. FCW volume can be decreased, but only do n to a certain minimum at
hich it still can be heard.
8.4. LUMINANCE ( )
The Luminance button controls the brightness of Mobileye AWS-4000 Display Unit.
There are four levels of luminance: LO, 01, 02, and HI. Press this button repeatedly to
cycle bet een the four luminance levels.
NOTE: The Mobileye AWS-4000 identifies day and night conditions and
automatically s itches bet een ‘Day’ and ‘Night’ modes. Each mode has its o n
independent luminance level that can be configured separately. The system saves
the latest luminance settings for both ‘Day’ and ‘Night’ modes until they are
changed, or until reset to factory defaults.
8.5. MODE SELECTION ( )
This button lets you adjust the follo ing alert functionality:
•Timing of HMW audio alerts
•Sensitivit of LDW alerts
8.5.1. Setting HMW Alert Timing
By default, the HMW audio alert is sounded hen head ay is less than 0.6 seconds. If
you ish to have the audio arning sounded earlier (at a greater head ay distance), or
later (at a shorter head ay), the HMW audio alert timing can be changed to a value
bet een 0.4 and 2.0 seconds.

Do not change Mobile e AWS-4000 settings while driving.

To set HMW audio alerts timing perform the follo ing steps:
1. Press the button once. This will change the s stem mode to “HMW
Configuration”. The “Headwa ” icon is lit and remains so as long as the
s stem is in configuration mode.
2. Press the “ ” and “ ”buttons to increase or decrease timing.
3. Wait 5 seconds for the new settings to take effect.
NOTE: Increasing the timing means the HMW audio alert ill be sounded hile
your vehicle is at a greater distance from the vehicle ahead than hen the default
settings are in effect. If you decrease the timing, the alert ill be activated hen
your car is relatively close to the vehicle ahead. For example, setting the HMW
audio alert value to 1.2 seconds ill cause the system to sound a arning hen
head ay falls to less than 1.2 seconds.
CAUTIONS:
•Setting the HMW timing to “OFF” (one level below 0.4 seconds) will
disable the HMW audio alerts.
•If level “OFF” is selected, the “HW OFF” icon on the Displa Unit will be
lit to indicate that HMW audio alerts will not be generated.
•To enable HMW audio alerts, make sure HMW timing is set to a value
between 0.4 and 2.0.
8.5.2. Setting LDW Alerts Sensitivity
LDW alerts are issued, by default, up to 0.5 seconds before you s erve out of the lane,
ithout signaling. You can modify LDW alerts by changing LDW sensitivity. There are
three LDW sensitivity levels: OFF, 1, and 2.
Level 2 is the default. Reducing sensitivity to level 1 ill delay the LDW alerts, and
setting the system to OFF ill turn off LDW alerts.
WARNING!
Do not change Mobile e AWS-4000 settings while driving.
To set the LDW sensitivity level perform the follo ing steps:
1. Press the button twice. This will change the s stem mode into “LDW
Sensitivit ” configuration. The “LDW” icon is now lit, and will remain lit as
long as the s stem is in LDW Sensitivit configuration mode.
2. Press the “ ” and “ ”buttons to increase or decrease sensitivit .
3. Wait 5 seconds for the new settings to take effect.
NOTE: Increasing LDW sensitivity means the LDW alerts ill be issued hen you
have not yet verged from the lane (either physically, or in terms of time to lane
crossing). Decreasing LDW sensitivity ill let you get relatively closer to the lane
marking (either physically, or in terms of time to lane crossing), before the alert is
activated. If you select level 1, the arning line is pushed out ards by 20 cm.

TROUBLESHOOTING

CAUTION:
•If ou set LDW sensitivit to “OFF”, it will disable LDW alerts.

TROUBLESHOOTING
The follo ing section provides possible solutions to situations that may occur hen
using the Mobileye AWS-4000. Should this section fail in providing the required solution,
please contact technical support for assistance.

LICENSE AND WARRANTIES
10.1. LIMITED USE LICENSE
a. Mobileye hereby grants the original purchaser of the Mobileye AWS (“Buyer”), a non-
exclusive and non-transferable license to use the soft are embedded in Mobileye
AWS as supplied by Mobileye, as ell as the documentation accompanying Mobileye
AWS.
b. Buyer shall not: (a) modify, adapt, alter, translate, or create derivative orks from
any soft are residing in or provided by Mobileye in conjunction ith the Mobileye
AWS, (b) reverse assemble, decompile, disassemble, or other ise attempt to derive
the source code for such soft are ithout ritten authorization from Mobileye, (c)
assign, sublicense, lease, rent, loan, transfer, disclose, or other ise make available
such soft are, or (d) remove proprietary notices on Product or Documentation.
10.2. LIMITED WARRANTY
The Mobileye AWS Limited Warranty (the "Limited Warranty") covers the original
purchaser of an AWS system installed on the original vehicle for hich the system as
purchased against defects in material or orkmanship for a period of one year from the
date of purchase. This Limited Warranty is not assignable, and shall be voided if
Mobileye AWS is transferred to another vehicle. Proof of original purchase is required
from the arranty holder to obtain limited arranty coverage.
The sole obligation of Mobileye under this Limited Warranty is to repair or replace, at
Mobileye’s discretion, any AWS system, hich is determined by Mobileye to have been
defective in materials or orkmanship provided by Mobileye. Mobileye ill not be
responsible for conditions arising as a result of installation or use of Mobileye AWS. The
original purchaser is responsible for all installation charges or incidental expenses
associated ith replacing Mobileye AWS.
The follo ing are excluded from arranty coverage:
a. Damage from misuse, negligence, improper installation or accident.
b. Installation on a vehicle other than the vehicle for hich Mobileye AWS as
designed.
c. Repair or alteration of AWS by any party other than Mobileye.
10.3. WARRANTY DISCLAIMER
This Limited Warranty is the sole and exclusive arranty applicable to the Mobileye
AWS. Mobileye disclaims all other expressed arranties and all implied arranties of
merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, to the fullest extent permitted by
applicable la . No representative, distributor, dealer or agent of Mobileye has the

authority to make any representation, arranty, or agreement on behalf of Mobileye
ith respect to the Mobileye AWS. No arranty of any kind or nature is made by
Mobileye beyond those expressly stated herein.
In no event shall Mobileye be liable for any special, collateral, indirect, punitive,
incidental, consequential, or exemplary damages in connection ith or arising out of the
use of the Mobileye AWS.
10.4. IF WARRANTY SERVICE IS NEEDED
The follo ing procedure is to be follo ed if a problem arises ith the Mobileye AWS:
1 Contact the dealer, if the Mobileye AWS as purchased from dealer.
2 Contact Mobileye if the Mobileye AWS as purchased directly from us. All
Mobileye AWS must be returned to Mobileye ith prepaid freight and return
freight. A return authorization number is required and may be obtained by
contacting our Customer Service Dept. at [e-mail]
3 Warranty service requires verification of o nership and date of purchase. Please
submit the original invoice to establish o nership and date of purchase. If
acceptable proof of purchase is not available for verification, the arranty period is
deemed to have begun on the manufacturing date marked on the Mobileye AWS.
