befreefromdefectsinmaterialandworkmanshipforthewarrantyperiod.
What this Limited Warranty Does Not Cover -Montagisnotresponsiblefor,andthislimitedwarrantydoesnotcover:
(1)usedparts,(2)anypartthathasbeenalteredormodiedinwaysnotapprovedbyMontag,(3)depreciationordamage
causedbynormalwearandtear,(4)unauthorizedrepairoradjustments,(5)reimbursementforworkcompletedbyan
unauthorizedservicecenter,(6)otherequipment,crops,orpropertywithwhichMontagequipmentcomesintocontact,
(7) components manufactured and warranted by other manufacturers such as tires and hydraulic equipment, (8) loss

Warranty Term and Coverage - Thislimitedwarrantyprovidescoverageforthreeyearsfromthedatetheequipmentis
deliveredtotherstpurchaserandextendstotheoriginalpurchaserandanysubsequentowner.
What Montag Will Do –(1)Montagwillprovidetelephoneconsultationwithatrainedrepresentativeregardlessofthe
locationoftheequipment.(2)ForequipmentlocatedinthegeneralgeographicareaservedbyaMontagdealer,Montag
may,ifMontagdeemsitnecessaryorexpedient,sendatrainedtechniciantoworkontheequipmentattheowner’splace
ofbusiness.(3)EquipmentthatrequiresserviceorrepairattheMontagmanufacturingfacilityoratanauthorizedMontag
dealershipmustbetransportedorshippedtoandfromtheMontagmanufacturingfacilityorMontagauthorizeddealership
attheowner’ssoleexpense.

ThissectionexplainsthelevelofriskandpotentialhazardsassociatedwithoperatingandmaintainingMontagFertilizer/
SeederApplicationSystems.Thesafetysignsandtheirlocationsonthemachinearealsoidentied.
2.2 SAFETY
This Owner’s Manual covers the fertilizer /seeder applicator produced by Montag Manufacturing. Before operating or
servicingthefertilizer/seederapplicator,youmustread,understandandfollowtheinstructionsandsafetywarningsin
thismanual.AlwayswearproperPersonalProtectiveEquipment(PPE)forthejob.Yourfertilizer/seederapplicatormay
notbeequippedwithsomeoftheoptionalequipmentshownintheillustrationsinthismanual.

2.2.1 KEEP ALL GUARDS IN PLACE
Removeguardsonlyforadjustmentandmaintenance,installimmediatelywhentaskiscompleted.Donotoperatemeter
orfanwithcoversremoved.Donotwearloosettingclothingthatcancatchinrotatingequipment.

2.2.2 STAY AWAY FROM ROTATING AUGERS
Keephandsandngersawayfrommeteringaugersunlesscouplerhasbeenremovedfrom
augerdrivemotor.

Severing hazard.
Rotating augers can sever digits.
Remove coupler from auger drive motor before touching
metering augers.
2.2.3 KEEP RIDERS OFF EQUIPMENT
Neverallowpeopleonorneartheequipmentwhileitismoving.Riderscanbethrownoor
undertheequipment,whichmayresultindeathorseriousinjury.Neverclimbonequipment
whileequipmentismoving.Keepchildrenawayfromequipmentatalltimes.
FollowallsafetyinstructionsinHagieownersmanual.

Crushing hazard.
Riders can fall from equipment, resulting in death or serious injury.
Never allow riders on the equipment.
2.2.4 AVOID HOT PARTS
Afterseveralminutesofequipmentoperation,surfacescontaininghydraulicuidcanbecomeveryhot.

Burn hazard.
Do not touch hot hydraulic surfaces.
Do not work on hydraulic system when it is hot.

2.2.5 AVOID HIGH PRESSURE HYDRAULIC FLUID
Alwaysrelievehydraulicsystempressurebeforeperforminganyworkonthesystem.Useapieceofcardboardorpaper,
notyourhand,tocheckforleaks.
^WARNING
Relieve pressure before disconnecting hydraulic lines.
Tighten all connections before applying pressure.
Seek medical attention immediately if uid is injected into skin.
2.2.6 AVOID FLYING OBJECT INJURIES
Whenfanisrunning,debriscanbethrownfromtheairoutlet,causinginjuryorpossiblelossofsight.

Projectile hazard.
Do not stand in front of air outlet while fan is operating.
2.2.7 AVOID LOSS OF CONTROL
TransportingFortieratexcessivespeedcanresultinlossofcontrol,causingdeathorseriousinjury.

Danger of loss of control when transporting Fortier.
Remove all product from tank before transporting on roads.
Maximum speed for cart with full tank is reduced.
Follow all safety instructions in Hagie owner manual.
2.2.8 AVOID TIPPING CART
Ifladders areinstalledon rearof drytank, tankcan tipoverif peopleclimb onstairs withFortier disconnected from
implement,resultingindeathorseriousinjury.

Crushing hazard.
Do not climb on tank steps when Fortier is disconnected from implement.

Know the height, width and length of the equipment.
Always be aware of clearances.
2.2.10 MAINTENANCE

• Park the equipment on rm, level surface.
• Turn on parking brake, turn engine o and remove ignition key.
• Verify service locks are properly engaged.

• Decideontheexactpositionbeforeyouremovethebackingpaper.
• Removethesmallestportionofthesplitbackingpaper.
• Alignthedecaloverthespeciedareaandcarefullypressthesmallportionwiththeexposedstickybackinginplace.
• Slowlypeelbacktheremainingpaperandcarefullysmooththeremainingportionofthedecalinplace.
• Smallairpocketscanbepiercedwithapinandsmoothedoutusingthepieceofdecalbackingpaper.

• Alwaysdriveatasafespeedrelativetolocalconditionsandensurethatyourspeedislowenoughforanemergency
stoptobesafeandsecure.Keepspeedtoaminimum.
• Reducespeedpriortoturnstoavoidtheriskofoverturning.

• Donotdrinkanddrive!
• Complywithstateandlocallawsgoverninghighwaysafetyandmovementoffarmmachineryonpublicroads.
• Useapprovedaccessorylightingagsandnecessarywarningdevicestoprotectoperatorsofothervehiclesonthe
highwayduringdaylightandnighttimetransport.Varioussafetylightsanddevicesareavailablefromyourdealer.
• Theuseofashingamberlightsisacceptableinmostlocalities.However,somelocalitiesprohibittheiruse.Local
lawsshouldbecheckedforallhighwaylightingandmarkingrequirements.
• Whendrivingthetractorandequipmentontheroadorhighwayunder40kph(20mph)atnightorduringtheday,use

• Planyourroutetoavoidheavytrac.

• Pick the levelest possible route when transporting across elds. Avoid the edges of ditches or gullies and steep
hillsides.
• Beextracarefulwhenworkingoninclines.
• Maneuvervehicleatsafespeeds.
• Avoidoverheadwiresorotherobstacles.Contactwithoverheadlinescouldcauseseriousinjuryordeath.
• Avoidloosell,rocksandholes;theycanbedangerousforequipmentoperationormovement.
• Allowforunitlengthwhenmakingturns.
• Operatethevehiclefromtheoperator’sseatonly.
• Neverstandalongsideofunitwithenginerunningorattempttostartengineand/oroperatemachinewhilestanding
alongsideofunit.
• Neverleaverunningequipmentattachmentsunattended.
• As a precaution, always recheck the hardware on equipment following every 100 hours of operation. Correct all
problems.Followthemaintenancesafetyprocedures.

Dry fertilizer dry box weighs approximately 3300 lbs (1500 kg).

ondryboxalignedwithfourmountingbracketsonHagie.MountfanendtotherearoftheHagie.Careshouldbe
giventokeepdryboxfromcontactingwindowofcab.Bewatchfulofelectricalharnessesandhydrauliccomponents
andhosesfrombeingpinchedbetweendryboxandsteporotherpointsofcontactontheHagie.
