The images/examples in this installation manual are from a BMW 3-Series E9x. The
actual steps for a BMW 1-Series E8x can be slightly different.

Single Oil Cooler Kit:
• 1x Setrab 19-row oil cooler
• 1x Pre assembled stainless steel bracket
• 1x Oil adapter AN8
• 1x Hose Kit
• Installation kit
We highly recommend adding the Mosselman
N54 Oil Thermostat for optimal cooling results.
Before starting the installation of this product, please read this installation manual
carefully to prevent possible damage or injuries.

Preparing for Installation
1
1. Find a suitable place for installation, preferably inside. Beware that during the installation fluids
may leak oil on the floor.
2. Prepare an empty space to place the parts that you temporarily have to remove from your car.
Once the installation is finished, this makes it easy to confirm visually that all removed parts made
their way back into the car.
3. Do not make any changes or modifications to Mosselman Oil Cooler Kit.
4. The engine can get extremely hot during and after it has been used. Allow the engine to cool down
before beginning installation.
5. Open the hood, make sure the ignition is switched off, then remove the key and close the doors.
Now wait 5 minutes before starting the installation, this ensures the car has gone into sleep mode.

2.1 Installation environment.
• Find a suitable place for installation (preferably inside).
• Open the hood.
• The engine can get extremely hot during and after it has been used. Make sure not to touch the engine
until it is completely cool.

• Lift the car properly and remove the wheel on the right side.
• Remove the covers located in fig. 2.1.

2.3 Optional: Removing the floor panel
• Removing the floor panel is optional, but it will make the installation easier. Oil can leak into the engine bay
during the installation of the oil cooler and thermostat. Removing the floor panel makes it easier to clean it
afterward.

2.4 Remove the air duct.
• Remove the air duct located in fig. 4.1.

2.5 Remove the oil lines
• Open the screw cap from the coolant tank, located in fig. 5.1, to release the pressure.

• Remove the oil lines from the oil thermostat. Beware: oil may leak out from the oil lines, use paper towels to
prevent oil from leaking into the engine bay.
Caution: Be careful opening the screw cap. Do not open the coolant tank if the engine is still hot!

2.6 Remove the oil lines
• Remove the bolt located in fig. 6.2 and remove the oil lines completely from the engine bay.
Beware: oil may leak out from the oil lines, use paper towels to prevent oil from leaking into the engine bay.

2.7 Remove the oil cooler
• Remove the bolts, located in fig. 7.1, and remove the oil cooler.
• Remove the oil cooler air duct located in fig. 7.2.

2.8 Remove the brake air duct
• Remove the brake air duct located in fig. 8.1.
2.9. Optional: Remove the oil thermostat
The Mosselman Oil Thermostat is optional, but highly recommend for optimal cooling results.
Skip to step 2.11 if you are using the OEM thermostat.
• Remove the bolts, located in fig. 9.1, and remove the oil thermostat.
Beware: oil may leak out from the thermostat, use paper towels to prevent oil from leaking into the engine bay.

2.10 Optional: Oil Thermostat
• Remove the old rubber gasket from the housing. Clean the housing properly to be sure that there will be no
dirt between the new gasket and the oil thermostat.
• Install a new rubber gasket.

2.11 Install the oil thermostat
• Place the Mosselman oil thermostat on the housing and tighten the 3 bolts with 18Nm of torque (fig. 11.1).
• Put new o-rings on the oil adapter and install it (fig. 11.2). Tighten the bolt with 19Nm of torque.

2.12 Oil Cooler
• Install the oil line adapters on the oil cooler (fig. 12.1). Make sure that the aluminum ring is in place between
the adapter and cooler.
The brake air duct needs to be modified to make the new oil cooler fit into the car.
• Remove the part left of the red dotted line from the brake air duct (fig. 12.2).

• Install the brake air duct and oil cooler air duct (fig. 13.1).
• Install the Mosselman Oil Cooler (fig. 13.2).
- Use the nuts provided in the installation kit for locations 1and 2.
- Use the OEM screws for locations 3and 4.

• Connect the oil lines to the Mosselman oil cooler (fig. 14.1). Use the longest oil line (1140mm) for location 2.
• Use the mounting bracket to install the Mosselman oil cooler (fig. 14.2).
- Use the OEM bolt for location 1.
- Use the bolts provided in the installation kit for locations 2and 3.

2.15 Connect the oil lines
• Connect the oil lines to the Mosselman oil thermostat (fig. 15.1).

2.16 Secure the oil lines
• Secure the oil lines using the cable ties provided in the box. Make sure that they can’t reach hot or moving
parts.
